I thought I'd try these since them come in a set of two and I'm glad I purchased. They both work perfect, fit in phone like they should and charge at a normal pace. Highly recommend!!

Your iPhone will give you a message that it's not a supported accessory, but it will charge your phone and the price is cheaper than I've seen in retail stores.

5Better than expected!
By RoxberryNY
Fits like a glove, doesn't obstruct any functions. Adds a nice grip and bulk to a thin small phone. Inner lining is nice and smooth not like most two layer cases that I've seen which are almost tacky and create an anti skid feeling. This case is nice and smooth. Better than expected :) ordered on a Sunday and got it on Wednesday so shipping was great too.

1LifeProof Warranty is Outrageous
By James Wynne
I purchased this product for my iPad about a year ago and love it. In fact I loved it so much I bought one for my iPhone as well as the wife's iPhone. A couple of months ago, I purchased another LifeProof case for my wife's iPad...though a different color of course. I recently (about a week ago) surprised her with it and so this weekend (8/10/13) she decides to put it all together. However, when she ran the leak test the unit failed. So we pulled the gaskets out cleaned them off with a damp rag, re-inserted them and tested again and again...but the lead test continues to fail. I even pulled my LifeProof apart and used its gasket for a test...but it still failed. I am now looking to just get a replacement but since it has been greater than 30 days since I ordered it, we are out of luck. Really?? I paid $150 for this and only get a 30 day warranty from the manufacturer and Amazon as well? This is a brand new item removed from the box and I get nothing for it since I didn't open it right away. For a company, LifeProof, that touts their product as being the best on the market for what it does, they certainly don't have much faith in its longevity.
This really is a great product and would well deserve a five star rating, however be warned that if you are purchasing this product...test it out as soon as you get it...for if you don't and it fails the leak test past the 30 days of purchase...it will be you who just took the bath.

1one fall, one shatter, no coverage from LifeProof
By kathleen wallace
I am astounded by the horrific experience I have just had with my iPad LifeProof case. I am a teacher and have been using my iPad for my job which requires me to travel through junior high hallways each passing period. I figured I'd better get the best case possible since I would likely drop the iPad at some point in the school year. I bought the LifeProof case, thinking it would protect my iPad. I have used the case for exactly 2 weeks and have not dropped it a single time. Last night my son dropped my ipad from his hands, it fell on a tile floor, and the entire screen shattered into hundreds of tiny shards. I was ASTOUNDED. It was as if there had been no case at all. Are you kidding me? I guess the "proof" is in the puddin' - or the shards, as the case may be. This morning, I called LifeProof and spoke to an actual human being who told me that they warranty the case itself. So, if the case had cracked into shards, they will warranty the case but the item inside gets no coverage whatsoever. This case has literally dropped one single time and my iPad is utterly ruined; the case did not protect it in the smallest way. Despite the video they have imbedded in their website, where people are dropping it on the side walk and it's getting whipped off a taxi, this will NOT protect your electronic device when you really need it to. I will return the case because it's been less than 30 days and I will never buy this ridiculously expensive, useless product again. Be ye warned!!!! - LifeProof neither protects nor replaces your electronics - and watch your eyes, my son now has an irritation in his eye from the spray of glass dust.

1A bit annoying ...
By T. Wynia
ONLY buy this if you MUST have a fully water/dust proof case !!! Its a great product for what it really is and really admire the o-ring design but this is not for the very large majority of people. I use my iPad for GPS in an open off road vehicle in heavy dust and rain so perfect for me but gave it a low review as this product is pushed heavily to the mainstream users when it should not be:

- Speaker is muffled and at least 25% less sound and loose some serious fidelity
- The Nuud idea of no screen protector is a cool thought but I really think all of us want some screen protection especially at this price point and cost of an iPad. Atleast it does come with the snap on face cover but its really only practical for storage in my opinion. Weird that when removed it wont snap ontot he backside of the case so its an extra loose item to carry around. It also has a built in kickstand and thus doubles as a stand so that is nice but still not well thought out as only good for landscape orientation. Expect a lot more at this price point in general.
- Only OEM charger will fit ... had to buy adapters for all my chargers and most don't fit and need to be modified
- The door design for charger makes it a little tricky (you get use to it) to insert the charger
- My headphones wont plug in by simply removing the waterproof plug (which is a bit annoying in general). have to use the adapter to make contact properly so its another thing dangling off the case which is annoying.
- Very bulky but good quality
- SUPER Expensive ... throw in a good NUUD screen protector film custom cut (Zagg) to maintain waterproof and getting way up as cant use a standard film screen protector

Was hoping I could tolerate this case to still use it for work also when I don't need waterproof and tried to get use to it but I am going to a standard cover/case for normal use. Really surprised how many of these have sold and are pushed heavily in the big box stores too ... it should be a niche only product.

5works like a charm
By Brandon P.
I purchased this cable in order to watch content from my Lenovo T410 laptop on a HD TV. The laptop has a DisplayPort (DP++) output and the TV has HDMI input.

Simply by connecting the ends of this cable to my laptop and TV, I had an 720p HD image of my laptop screen almost instantly. However, there was no audio.

The lack of audio was *not* due to any flaw in the cable. In the process of troubleshooting, I saw several websites which simply blamed this sort of no-audio problem on a "cheap cable" -- but, while this cable is certainly inexpensive (which is one of the reasons I got it!), it has no trouble carrying audio (and very clear audio, at that).

I eventually found a Lenovo forum which held the answer: "First go to your audio settings by going FN + F6, choose 'Audio Defaults + Settings'. Then choose your TV as the default audio."

This did the trick for me -- I instantly had audio (both through the laptop speakers and the HD TV).

The poster on the Lenovo forum also had this piece of advice (which I never followed, since the first step solved the problem for me): "Now the sneaky part. Push FN + F7 and choose 'Projector Only', then sound will come out of the TV. Took me forever to figure out." Again, I had no need to do this, but I'm re-posting it in case someone else does.

In summary, after some fiddling with my cpu's settings, this cable delivered all that was promised: crystal clear audio and visual from my laptop to my HD TV. Note: I have only used the cable on a handful of occasions during the past few weeks, so I'm not in a good position to evaluate its durability. As a previous reviewer has mentioned, when the DisplayPort end connects to the computer, it "latches" into place, and a small panel must be pressed in order to release it -- this "release latch" doesn't feel like the most sturdy thing in the world, but it hasn't given my any problems so far, and handled gently, I would imagine that it will continue to function just fine.

5great cable
By Chris
I had been looking for something to hook my Lenovo ThinkPad T420 up to an HDMI based display (both a projector and a 40" TV). I almost ordered one of the cheap adapters I found on Amazon until I read the reviews that they got stuck in the Display Port on the computer and would not come out. I then opted to go for a cable with the Display Port on one end and the HDMI on the other end. This cable is great. Does exactly what I needed it to. I get full 1920 x 1080 on both the projector and TV which is the resolution they support, and the sound goes through as well. Couldn't be happier.

5Excellent. The only 25' DisplayPort to HDMI cable I could find and it works great.
By S. Power
My HP EliteBook 8560p has a DisplayPort video output on it instead of the older HDMI type of port. There are a pretty good number of "adapters" on the market, and also short cables, but I wanted a durable end-to-end solution with none of the opportunities for issues that an adapter introduces. I wanted to get this cable from AmazonBasics or from Cables-to-Go, because I've have very good luck with both of them. As it turned out, when I was shopping, this one from "Cable Matters" was the only option that met my needs. I am happy to say, that I am not disappointed at all. The cable does great at sending high definition 1080P 120hz video and high definition audio from my laptop's DisplayPort to my TV's HDMI input. It works wonderfully, and I'm very happy.

The cable is well made and has good, solid, connectors on both ends. It is the correct length and was packaged properly. It is malleable, yet solid.

I have no complaints at all about this cable. The price was a little steep at $25, when I bought it, but considering there is no competition yet for this length cable, I'm not too surprised or upset. I can remember paying two or three times that amount for a similar cable at brick and mortar stores, back before there were alternatives.

I highly recommend this cable. If there is anything else that you'd like to know about it, that I forgot to put in this review, please let me know in the comments section, and I'll address it.

4A perfect case but they did not install the magnets for the Sleep/Wake function! Come on man, what were you thinking!
By jjceo
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R38HSXAUJRZZE3 I have used Otterbox defender cases for years and I have purchased them for my iPads and iPhones. I have also purchased 4 of them for friends and family as gifts. This model is really the best one yet for protection and clarity of the screen for the iPad Air. There is only one major issue for me and that is the fact that Otterbox did not include the magnets in the snap on lid to put the iPad to sleep or to wake it up to conserve battery power.

I put together a video to show the benefits and features of this new case and basically it is nicely designed. I like the screen shield as it is clear and easy to see through and use. That has been my major complaint in the last two generations of iPad Defender cases and frankly I cut the screen shield out of the old cases as they made the retina screen look granulated and it diminished the quality of the screen image. This model has a clear shield and it really is very good when compared to the older versions.

The synthetic rubber outer layer is tight and the texture on it is very nice. It will not show scuffs and finger prints as easily as the one I have on my iPad 3.

I have to tell you that I am upset about the failure of Otterbox to put the two magnets into the snap on lid for the sleep/wake function. For me that is a major feature. I review a lot of products and I have already reviewed multiple cases with the magnets built in and even Bluetooth keyboard cases for the iPad Air with this feature. There simply is no excuse for having not included this feature that conserves iPad battery power. For me the case was just rushed to market to make shipments for the Christmas season as the expense of loyal customers that would have simply expected this feature as a standard built in part of the design. It is like buying a car and not getting brakes on the car. Just think, who would even think to ask if a car came with brakes or not or if an $89.95 case had a basic sleep/wake feature for an Apple iPad.

I rated this case as a four star item and it would have clearly been a 5 star review with this feature built in. Dear Otterbox, come on man, what were you thinking!

1Extremely disappointed in this case.
By jambi
I'm extremely disappointed in this case. I had an iPad 3 and an OtterBox Defender case to go with it and never had any issues with it at all. In fact it was - and still is - by far the best tablet protecting case I've been able to find.

Fast forward to just recently when I upgraded to the new iPad Air. I came here looking for an OttterBox Defender case and couldn't find one. Went to their website and couldn't find one there either. I ended up buying a temporary case from Amazon until I could find a Defender. Finally they became available here on Amazon. I purchased it, though I thought $89 was a little steep for a case, especially since I only spent around $50 or so for the last one. However, I felt at the time it was worth it as I'd become a fan of the Defender series.

I just received the case in the mail. Opened it up and immediately noticed the magnets that were in the lid to put the device to sleep when the lid is closed were not there. Doing a bit of researching, it seems OtterBox has decided to remove one of the main benefits of the case (the magnets for putting the device to sleep when the lid is closed) and jack the price up an extra $30 or so.

Completely unacceptable, in my opinion.

Come on, OtterBox. I've been a fan of your products for a while now. I've used them for my tablets as well as my phones, and I've talked friends, family members, and coworkers into purchasing them as well. I expected much, much more from you than this.

4Having had an Otter Defender Case for my iPhone the ...
By dhechinger
Having had an Otter Defender Case for my iPhone the past year, I anticipated purchasing the just released Defender Case for the iPad Air. It is a substantial case, shipped in several parts, with a minimalist instruction sheet packed inside. The positive points included the fit and finish of the product and the case's built in four-way stand (2 vertical and 2 horizontal options for respective portrait and landscape use). The case weighs 1 lb, 1 1/2 oz, a little more than the bare iPad Air (obviously, protection was the primary consideration in the design). With the plastic rear component (containing the stand), the case is one inch thick and ten and a quarter inches long. Negative points were the three broken fingernails during assembly and a scratched plastic screen protector (I will request a replacement from Otter). Had the assembly been less dramatic, and the plastic screen protector not been scratched, I would have given a higher score.

Dec.13...After contacting customer service re: the defective item, and forwarding two images of the case, I have been told I would receive a replacement as soon as they become available (backordered at this time). Upon receiving the new component, I will reevaluate my rating...dh

January...requested and received a replacement case from Otter. Replacement plastic screen protector was also scratched (quality control re: plastic screen protectors appears less than optimal ), but increased rating by one star in that Otter made a good faith effort to replace original case. Printed instruction sheet needs to be reviewed along with online video to reduce frustrations incurred while assembling.

5ASUS M11AD-US006O
By Bryan Feldman
I selected this computer for speed and reliability. Since it was to be used primarily for software development, I didn't need a graphics card. And I definitely didn't want Windows 8. So far (after about a week) I am very satisfied.

When the computer arrived it was well packaged. I opened it up to make sure everything was intact and seated securely; it was. Inside this computer is simple and neat with well-routed wires and lots of open space.

The computer has the Core i7-4770S processor running at 3.10 GHz, not 3.4 as stated, and 16 GB (15.7 usable) RAM. It includes Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1. It has a 2 TB hard disk which is divided into two partitions: WIN7 (C:) which has 745 GB usable and DATA (D:) which has 1.07 TB available and comes completely empty.

It comes with some Asus bloatware, some of which run at startup and you may want to disable. Some of the apps may be useful but I have not looked into them yet. This computer includes Bing Bar which states it will collect information about you and you must agree in order to accept the Windows license agreement. And it includes McAfee Internet Security 2012 edition with a one-month subscription.

Initial setup is straightforward and smooth. Once it's complete, you have an option of making a system image backup, which worked well, used four DVDs and took about two hours. First thing I did after that was to remove the Bing Bar and install a non-Microsoft browser.

It has two front USB 2.0 ports and four rear. I would have liked more but I use a small, unpowered hub to attach more stuff. It also has two USB 3.0 ports in the rear. One in the front would have been useful for external hard drives. Note the image of the back of the computer shown on this page is not the correct one and the features pictured there vary significantly from this PC; you can download the documentation from the Asus website to see what it really looks like. The PC is quiet except for a somewhat noisy hard drive, but I am comparing it to my old system; it had an SSD which of course is silent.

The motherboard-based Intel 4600 graphics has 1.75 GB of RAM, supports two HD monitors with Aero Glass, and performs well for my non-gaming use. Also built in is Realtek High Definition Audio. It has a 350-watt peak, 286-watt continuous power supply.

Here's the key point about this computer: it is FAST. Really, really fast. Large programs like Eclipse ADT and Photoshop load amazingly quickly. Big software projects compile in half the time they used to or less even though my prior machine was not slow. The Windows Experience Index gets a 5.9 overall score with the primary hard disk data transfer rate scoring lowest (5.9), graphics scoring 6.7, and RAM and processor scoring a lovely 7.7.

It came with a keyboard and mouse which I did not use and so cannot comment on. The case feels solid and well-made and is handsome and not too big.

Any more questions, please ask and I will add them to this review.

5Awesome phone, incremental upgrade from SIII
By rpv
Galaxy S4 is an incredible phone. I have been using this unlocked S4 for past 2 days helping a friend to migrate from iPhone 4S. My friend has been on iPhone and it also gave me a unique perspective. I used iPhone for couple of years and been using Android for past 3+ years.

I have used Galaxy S3, Note II and for me S4 is more like a S3s :) If you have a Galaxy S3, it is perfect and there is no need to move to S4. The new features are more like minor upgrades for me. Just like Detroit rolls out new cars every year, phone manufacturers have found excellent way to make yearly upgrades.

Battery came for almost a day. The video playback was crisp and my friend was amazed at the customization options. It is heaven for a iphone user to come out of shackles and explores the wonderful world of Android. It sure sounds like it is for geeks, but Samsung has created lot of ways to simplify and make it less intimidating. The EASY mode is for one such reason. Samsung's addition of all those apps (commonly referred as crapware) is not as bad as HTC or LG. Android experience is classified as pure vanilla in phones like Nexus. Vendors like Samsung have added a whole lot of extra programs.

5" HD Super AMOLED 1920 x 1080 display (441 ppi) is just plain gorgeous. 13 MP camera takes ginormous image sizes. I put a 64 GB microSDXC card SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC Class 6 Memory Card with SD Adapter - Retail Packaging as my friend wants to take lot of movies (built-in 2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM). No stuttering, and very smooth playback of videos captured in varying light conditions (HD Playback; HD Recording). Compatible video types are AVI/DIVX, WMV/ASF, FLV, MKV, MP4/3GP, WEBM. HDR and Panaromic photos were incredibly sharp. Compatible audio types are: AAC, AMR, MP3, OGG, WMA/ASF, 3GA/M4A, FLAC, WAV. Google Music, PlayerPro Music player are producing excellent music. Audio/Video is one section where S4 has nudged S3. For a normal user, if you are not into lot of video processing this does not matter.

S4's infrared sensor is the same technology as TV remote control, so with WatchON you can change the TV channel from your phone. My friend was shocked to see this feature. Having used Android for a long time, I explored all new features one by one. My friend is still getting used to and feels this is too complicated. I broke down into lot of sub features and told my friend he may not use 50% of features, but told him to explore one feature at a time and focus on that.

Games were very buttery, this phones runs ARM®-based octa-core mobile CPU. This is apparently world's first! Inside this chip is Imagination Technologies' PowerVR SGX544MP3 GPU. I tried several car racing games and performance was phenomenal. People on the XDA-Developers forum report seeing smearing and ghosting when scrolling on the phone. This especially occurs to people when scrolling among darker colors, which begin showing up as purple. I tried hard to see if I could on the S4 I was testing with my friend and I could not see it. I am sure these can be upgraded with software over due course.

Air View and Air Gestures - are they worth it? Air view is similar to how the S-pen on the Galaxy Note 8 works. Simply hover finger a few millimeters above the screen and in supported apps, you'll see a preview of content. This works with many of Samsung's built-in apps, including the photo gallery, the dialer, Samsung's browser and email client. It also works with Flipboard. Air View works by cranking up the capacitive sensor on the screen. Another new feature is Air Gestures. This uses the IR sensor on the top of the phone to detect movement by your palm or finger. One can flip between open tabs in Samsung's browser app, skip to a new song in the music player and do many other things. I say these are still in works and sometimes not very efficient.

GPS was spot on and I tried multiple GPS apps. It was bright outdoors (had to crank the brightness all the way up). I tried multiple apps to demonstrate to my friend. In the end, my friend was impressed with what all Android and in particular S4 had to offer. Smooth and Stunning display!

I tried following apps and they just worked awesome.

Amazon Mobile
Android Status
Androidify
Angry Birds (Space/Seasons)
Asphalt 7

Car Maintenance Reminder Pro

NAVIGON (from Garmin - offline maps)

4Lots of positives, few negatives
By J. Darnell
Compared to the iPhone 4S version of this case this is a complete redesign. Part of that was required because of the new dimension, port locations and size of the iPhone 5, but other parts seem to be a genuine attempt at improvements.

Positives
--Feels very well protected.
--Newer rubber material is more plasticky than previous versions. Better feel, nicer fit and seems less likely to stretch over time. Also doesn't catch when going into the pocket.

Neutral
--Edge on the front glass is significant. This doesn't encumber my typing but I am aware of it. Of course, this is part of the protection of this case and is a fair trade-off in my opinion.
--General thickness. Definitely distracts from the beauty of an iPhone 5. This is not a flaw in the product, though, just a decisions making point for the consumer. That thickness is, once again, a trade-off for protection.

Negatives
--Power button has a ton of resistance while in this case. Not sure if this will break in with time or not.

Having said all of that I recommend this case whole-heartedly if you're looking for a good amount of protection and you're willing to trade some sleekness for it. For me it seems like a significant step up in materials and fit and finish quality over the previous versions.

No, this case is not sleek, it's a !@$*& otter box. If you bought this case, or are considering buying this case, it's because you want to protect your phone and prevent any damage from occurring. This phone is perfect for that purpose.

It may not still be as small as just the phone in your pocket, but who expects that when they buy an otter box? This case protects my phone great. It has a silicone insert which you put your phone into first, and then you put it into the hard, outer shell. This case even comes with a screen protector. Well worth the money in my opinion.

And on another note, the power button is not as hard to press as people make it sound, and I am sure it will get easier to press the longer you own the case.

The only thing I might say could be improved upon would be to put rubber on the bottom side of the case (perhaps a rubber bumper in each corner) to prevent it from sliding around. I have noticed when I toss the phone on my desk, it slides quite a bit. Perhaps my desk is just clean, but that's the only thing I could nit pick about this wonderful case.

5Solid protection, moderately slim and lightweight
By Gordon Todd
Bottom line: The Otterbox Commuter case is great protection for your iPhone 5 investment. And it's sleeker and lighter than the negative reviews might lead you to believe.

My highest priority was to protect this $400 gadget from damage. I also have preschoolers who are additional risks to anything fragile! Check.

At the same time, I wanted something with good design that would fit unobtrusively in my pants or shirt pocket. Check and check.

Also wanted materials that are durable. Time will tell, but my initial analysis indicates check.

FYI, I compared to the Otterbox Defender, which offers more protection, but is bulkier and more noticeable in my pocket. Also compared it to several different Speck cases, which appeared to offer similar protection at the same price, but did not come with a screen protector. Plus, the Otterbox color combinations, from black/white to lime green/navy, accommodate a range of tastes.

The criticisms in other reviews appear overblown. Regarding on/off switch stiffness, this isn't a factor at all. The case fits the phone perfectly. I didn't notice the "rough" edges on the bottom back because I don't hold it there.

In my four years of owning iPhones, iPads and cases, my experience is that no case is "perfect." If you want solid protection without too much bulk, this case is worth your consideration.

5Almost didn't get this great unit... but so glad I did
By Michael
I presently have the Nuvi 3790 and almost didn't go for this new unit. I am now glad I did. I have a number of trips all over in the next few weeks and was anxious to get this unit before they began. Had it pre-ordered on Amazon, they sent me a note that it was shipping and then it didn't and got delayed, so I got it elsewhere.

Registering the unit was a breeze. No problem for my Garmin communicator to recognize the unit and ask me if I wanted to register it. Went smoothly. I also loaded safety camera poi's from a third party and that went well too. I use web-updater usually as I can control what gets updated. I had an issue with the 3790 and it had to be replaced (with a refurbished unit). I would NOT load their map updater. I want to be in control of what gets updated. Just my two cents worth of experience.

A word of caution, you have to spend some time drilling down all the menu options, since you have a lot of control over what you want displayed on the screen. The three default buttons seemed fine at first, but I changed one of them ... left the traffic and mute button and changed the stop route button to where to. It seemed to me easier to hit the button to choose a via point than hit a button twice. My personal preference. You can eliminate all the shortcut buttons if you want. I like the idea of them on the screen though.

Speaking of via points, I like how this unit handles them. You can add a lot of them on the way. And you can reorder them as to how you get to them and in what order. Not sure if it optimizes the routing for them, but I suspect it doesn't. I like this approach and control.

I also love the idea of having your favorite poi's or saved destinations available as shortcuts on the where to menu. Reminds me of Magellan -- I have had a few of them in the past -- but like Garmin better.

I also like being able to select what poi's you would like to see pop up on the screen as you travel. Reminds me of my Navigons years ago. Really enjoyed seeing for instance a McDonald's near my travels and just driving in its direction when I had a Navigon 7100 and 7200.

I was concerned that the new user interface was taking away things from me. I love info and the ability to control it. And while the dashboards need some work I found the default one seems to work for me at this point the best. I expect Garmin will update these along the way. I have pretty much what info I had before available to me and even more.

When you calculate a route you are often given a number of options. This happens on the 3790 as well, but it is easier to use on the 3490. Again it reminds me of Navigon. I was sad to see them leave the US market, but Garmin has caught up with their great ideas.

On the first leg of my trip I had the 3790 and 3490 set up side by side. The 3490 got going faster than the 3790. Both had been turned on and had acquired signals the day before, so it was an equal comparison when I pushed both on buttons at the same time. I was well on my way with the 3490 when the 3790 kicked in.

I also noticed more lane assist screens on the 3490 than the 3790. I had read that street info wasn't as prevalent as the 3790, but I selected the more detail option and haven't really noticed much difference.

I have found lane assist to be invaluable. I also like how junction views look with photo real pictures and now sharing the screen and staying on the screen until you get there. Much better approach than a few seconds for a pop up covering the whole screen in the past.

Arrival times always vary. It's hard for any GPS to take into account traffic lights and construction on regular streets. UPS years ago programmed their computers to eliminate left turns as much as possible to save gas and time. They save lots and lots of money. It makes sense if you think about it.

Also, this is the first Garmin unit I have owned that does not say, "recalculating" when a route is being recalculated. It got to be annoying at times. This unit just recalculates with no notice. I also found the voice command feature to be a bit more responsive and accurate than the 3790.

I suspect that one reason the 3400 and 3700 series are not live like the 1695 is its size. No room for the receiver. I did enjoy the live feature and Google search on the 1695 I had, but it's a trade off for the great size.

This is a very compact unit. It's actually the 3790 unit size, but a fraction heavier, just a fraction. I love this size because I carry it in my shirt pocket when out of the car. Garmin has a perfect case just designed for the 3400 and 3700 series. I would urge you to get it. It's available on Amazon for a bit cheaper than the retail price. Garmin Carrying Case nüvi 37xx Series

While it first seemed to me to be an incremental upgrade, I have found the 3490 to be faster, easier to use and with more info options. Make sure you spend time going through all the options. Many things you may think aren't there or can't be changed actually are there and can be changed.

Very worthwhile investment.

10/22/11 Update ------ In the last week I have been to various parts of Central Florida and the Chicago area. I have found the Voice Command feature much better than the Nuvi 3790. More sensitive and better accuracy. Also, when on a route and you are looking for a POI you have the option of looking for it near you, along your route or at your destination. And you can use your voice to choose which option. Much better feature upgrade.

When you are arriving at your destination you know get an alert bar with a parking option. The bar is replaced shortly with a new button on the screen with a P. So now you can easily choose to look for a parking garage, etc. Of course this only happens in areas where there are parking options and would not pop up in a residential area.

Traffic is so far for me hit or miss. I do not like that the traffic button stays green even if there is no signal being received. Very confusing. When it works I like that you get an alert bar at the top telling you of traffic and as with the parking alert above, it gets replaced with an icon of the traffic issue that counts down the mileage to the incident. Nice feature. Also if along the way the Nuvi finds an alternate route that saves time it gives you an alert so you can see the options and change to that routing. Again a nice feature.

Great new unit and I am more convinced that I made a good choice in going with this unit.

11/4/11 Update ----- Garmin issued a software update that improved map drawing, corrected a routing error when going through tunnels, and improved traffic performance, among a number of fixes. One obvious fix is that the green traffic icon now shows gray when not receiving traffic info, which is a real great update. But as I discovered it just means the traffic receiver is not attached. It still shows green when the receiver is attached but not receiving info - not a good thing. Traffic of course is dependent on your area. I have used many such services including Garmin's NuLink, at times with other units side by side. They all are great sometimes, not so great other times. This HD approach is the latest and so far I have had no major issues. Again, keeping in mind that traffic is not always 100%, even those live traffic reporters report a problem in an area I am in and it's not there any more (so much for real-time, live coverage). But when I was on 495 around Washington, DC, it was spot on with delays and location of start and end. Not bad at all.

3Visually stunning, great features, but......traffic is poor
By Jackson
The unit looks great, it has very vivid graphics with sharp detail. The navigation features seem good, although it does work a bit differently than other Garmin units I own, so I am working through a learning curve. The "Voice Command" feature is GREAT. It has lots of functionality, and recognizes my voice commands very nearly flawlessly, available commands and options are presented to you on each screen so you don't have to memorize options, it's a CLEAR winner of a feature. The mounting system is easy to use and well designed (I own a Tomtom unit as well, which has a horrible mount system, so this comment is actually important to frustrated Tomtom users). Routing speed is fast (another clear advantage over my tomtom). There are lots of other options I haven't even begun to play with, like Exit Services, points of interest, customizable buttons on the screen, multiple destination routing, and on and on.

So what's not to love? In a word - TRAFFIC. Or the lack of it. And the advertised "HD Traffic" (whatever that means) was one of the main reasons I bought the unit. I live and work in the Pittsburgh, PA area, and normally drive up and down the turnpike (I-76) to/from work. My tomtom receives the traditional NAVTEQ traffic signal for the entire route at full strength. The first 3490LMT I bought never picked up the traffic signal on that route, not once. I called Garmin tech support, they ended up suggesting I return it for another, which I did. The second 3490LMT got a SNIFF of traffic the next day, for about 60 seconds, then gone again. To check it, on the way home I actually detoured through downtown, and sure enough, it finally began picking up signal, although never at full strength that I noticed. The NAVTEQ signal my tomtom picks up without issue is not even registering with the Garmin, much less any of the sexy "update every 60 second traffic" features. Maybe it was supposed to say "updates FOR 60 seconds" not "EVERY 60 seconds." Har har.

So....I'm at a loss as to whether to keep it or return it. I would rate everything but the traffic a solid 5 stars. I rate the traffic a solid 1 star. You can make up your mind how important that feature is to you. For me, I paid a premium price for the unit, with a lot of value deriving from the traffic feature, and without it I'm very disappointed.

UPDATE 26 Oct 2011: I ended up returning the unit. I really did like everything about it except the anemic traffic a lot, and tried to talk myself into not wanting the traffic feature. But in the end I decided that only having a traffic signal for the few blocks surrounding the downtown Pittsburgh area was just too silly - Pittsburgh does actually have a lot of traffice outside those few blocks - and it had to go back. I see other reviews complaining about the traffic as well. I'll wait, and if Garmin releases a new production run with an updated receiver I'll consider buying then. Until then I'll plod along with my Tomtom, which annoys me more every day it seems, heh...

2Digital 3D Traffic doesn't work properly
By Mark Denne
I live in LA. So for obvious reasons, high quality and up-to-date real-time traffic information is important to me. I purchased this unit to replace a Garmin 3790, which had proved disappointing. The 3790 uses Garmin's "3D Traffic" service which receives traffic data over standard FM radio. It updated too slowly. Sometimes it would take as long as 20 minutes after switch-on before its traffic data was fully loaded. And this delay meant I would often get told about a traffic back-up too late to do anything about it. Also, 3D Traffic is only good for freeway information. So if you opt to avoid conjestion by switching to a surface street, you don't know if that route is also conjested until you get there.

The great thing about the 3490 is that it comes with "Digital 3D Traffic". This uses HD radio which transmits traffic data much more quickly. The 3490 usually tells me its traffic information is up to date within just a couple of minutes of being switched on. In addition, it gives me traffic information about major surface streets, not just the freeways.

There's lots to like about the Garmin 3490. It's slim, fast and intuitive. I especially like the way that I can key in a destination address by giving the street number and street name first (instead of city first). Before I even enter the city name, it's already worked out which cities have that street number and name. Most of the time, I don't even have to enter the city - it's already worked it out. And unlike many other GPS devices I've tried, it has reliable Point of Interest data, so I can find anything from a furniture store to a theme park very quickly.

But the 3490 has two critical flaws. And for me they're show-stoppers. They're both related to the Digital 3D Traffic functionality.

The first is that the reception of Digital 3D Traffic data is disappointingly poor. For example, today I drove from San Diego to Burbank and I had no traffic updates for 26 minutes from just north of San Clemente until just before the Euclid Avenue intersection on I5. That's a long time not to have any updates. A lot can happen on I5 in 26 minutes! And this lack of reception isn't happening out in the desert, it's happening in Orange County. The HD receiver was perfectly positioned on the dash of the car throughout this time. Not good. But, to be fair, HD radio reception isn't Garmin's problem. So although the gaps in coverage are annoying, I can't fault Garmin for them. But I can definitely fault Garmin for the second flaw.

The device has a color-coded traffic indicator that shows up in the Maps view. When it's green it indicates no traffic on route. When it's yellow it indicates there's problem ahead but it's not serious enough to require a re-route. You can click on the indicator to see where the problem is and how long your delay is predicted to be. When it's red, it indicates a serious traffic problem ahead. The 3490 will either re-route you automatically (and tell you it's doing that) or you can click on the red indicator and choose a suggested alternative route by hand. All very reasonable you may think. So if you're driving along a freeway and the traffic indicator stays green you can relax and feel confident that you're not about to run into a major freeway backup - right? Wrong! And the reason is very simple. The unit also shows the green indicator when it has no traffic data. Which is exactly what happened to me today.

So to my annoyance, I came across a backup on I5 in Tustin, just after the I5 - I405 split. If the 3490 had told me there was a backup on I5, I could have easily diverted to the 405. Exactly the kind of decision that I expect a real-time traffic GPS to help me make. But I made the mistake of believing the green traffic indicator. And you can't trust it. Sometimes it means there's no traffic data, and sometimes it means there's no traffic. Those two are very different conditions. If only the unit would do something like gray-out the traffic indicator to indicate "no data" it wouldn't be so bad. At least I'd then know to check the traffic channel on the radio, or I could ask a passenger to look at SigAlert or GoogleMaps. But the way it works right now, the green traffic indicator is misleading and therefore ultimately annoying.

I need a device that gives me reliable continuous real-time traffic data in metropolitan areas. And I need a device that I can trust when it says there is no traffic en-route. Unfortunately the Garmin 3490LMT doesn't do either of those reliably, so it isn't the device for me. I'm returning mine tomorrow.

4Review: Canon PIXMA MG7120 Color Photo Printer, Scanner, Copier
By Neil E. Isenberg
Canon PIXMA MG7120 Black/White/Red/Brown Wireless Color Photo Printer with Scanner and Copier

OVERVIEW:
-----------

This is a new sweet spot for the Canon PIXMA line with a lot of bang for the buck. This is the replacement for the still produced MG6320. The MG7120 has only been available since August 2013.

PROS:
------

- One more color than the MG5420/MG5320 models, GRAY, just like its MG6320/MG6220 predecessors. GRAY is for improved black and white results and to better darken colors. I haven't seen the difference gray makes with color pages, but some reviewers can.

- Has an ETHERNET connection, allowing a solid, simple shared/network wired connection that stays up even when computers are down. Its predecessors MG6320/MG6220 have it too, the MG5420/MG5320 models do not.

- One of the few models that comes in WHITE (as well as BLACK, RED, and BROWN). The MG6320 before it started the white model option and it was a hit.

- Has a handy separate 4"x6" and 5"x7" PHOTO PAPER DRAWER at the front. The year old MG6320/MG5420 models have this too, the older MG6220/MG5320 models before that did not.

- Like the MG6320 before it, the MG7120 is a bit shorter/squatter than the earlier MG6220, which for some is a nicer form factor if on a desk and certainly if on a deep shelf, for example. The new design ditches the rear paper feed to help achieve its new shelf friendly size and form factor. Listed in a section below are some alternatives with rear/straight feed.

- The 250/251 ink tanks, a little over a year old now, for the MG7120/MG6320/MG5420 also come in an XL SIZE now which reduces the page cost significantly. The ink in the 250/251 tanks are the same formula as in the earlier 225/226 ink tanks according to Canon support.

- The touch screen content-sensitive interface of the MG7120 and MG6320 gets rave reviews, however, I find the old interface of the MG6220 just as easy, but the unanimity of positive reviews for it suggests it really is much better for many.

- For copying/scanning the top comes easily off just like the MG6320 (unlike the previous generation MG6220).

- The MG7120 (and MG6320 and MG5420 models) have 2x the number of black ink nozzles as their predecessors the MG6220/MG5320 models. This allows more efficient use of black ink and greater dot accuracy.

- See "vs. MG6320" section below for details on printing directly from mobile.

- With 10+ years of having a number of their products I have always found Canon to have great customer service, which for U.S. customers appears to be based out of Maryland and Virgina.

LESSER PROS:
-------------

- 5-15% faster printing for the MG7120/MG6320 than the older MG6220 depending on b&w vs. color, quality, etc.

- Can print directly from CF memory cards on the MG7120/MG6320 models, unlike the older MG6220, if that is important to you. In addition can print from most SD/MMC/Memory Stick/xD-Picture card types, as always.

- I am leaving out a laundry list of features and specifications you can read on the Canon site to keep the review focused on the big defining features/differences of this model.

CONS/WARNINGS:
-----------------

- This is new (Aug 2013) and as such can be expected to have more issues than after some time passes. On the other hand, this may just be an incremental modification to the MG6320 and so may not have this issue as much.

- These 250/251 ink tanks are different for these newer MG7120/MG6320/MG5420 models than for the previous generation and thus are at this time (late 2013), a little harder to find available at stores, especially in XL sizes.

- For copying/scanning, the lid telescopes up for books only to the thickness of around a cellphone, whereas the MG6220 telescoped up to around twice that. On the other hand the top COMES OFF easily now with the MG7120/MG6320.

- NO BUILT-IN FAX, if this is important to you in an all-in-one. Perhaps you want to get a dedicated fax machine of your choosing near a phone line anyways, however if you are looking for a built-in fax the MX922/MX892 printers have one.

- NO ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), if this is important to you in an all-in-one. The MX922/MX892 printers have an ADF.

- No straight paper path. If this is important to you, consider the rear-feeding models like the MX892 listed in a section below. Keep in mind that the certified paper weight for non-Canon paper is still 17#-30# for MX892 and 17#-28# for MG7120, so not that much difference. Even the old MG6220 rear feed recommendation maxed out at 28#. For Canon Genuine Paper the MG7120 is certified up to 78#.

vs. MG6320 (Its Predecessor):
-----------------------------

- NEW: The MG7120 will automatically turn on if it is off when a print request is sent.

- NEW: The grinding noise of the MG6320 a minute or so after startup appears to have been greatly lessened in the MG7120, it is much quieter during that process whether or not you are in quiet mode. It may have been resolved in newer MG6320's, too, I haven't heard.

- NEW: The MG6320 required a wireless router to print from a mobile device. The MG7120 has an Access Point Mode which allows direct printing to the printer without need for a wireless router.

- NEW: The MG6320 allowed you to print directly (no computer needed) from Picasa, Canon Image Gateway, and Google Cloud Print. The MG7120 now allows you to also download apps to the printer itself that allow printing directly also from Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, DropBox, Evernote, and more.

- There is a specification error online suggesting some changes in the photo paper drawer and MMC card compatibility, but these are misprints, they are the same. The MG7120 and MG6320 are very similar feature-wise.

NEW MODEL NUMBERS CONFUSION
(as of late 2013):
---------------------------------

- The MG5520 you would think replaces the MG5420, however the MG5520 4x6 photo printing can be 110% slower, the copying can be 30% slower, has lower max color resolution, has lower max scanning resolution, and can't print on CDs/DVDs. Thus for 5 ink MG series solutions, MG5420 may still be the sweet spot.

- The MG6420 you would think replaces the MG6320, however the MG6420 is missing the gray tank, has no Ethernet, 4x6 photo printing can be 110% slower, copying can be 30% slower, has lower max color resolution, has lower max scanning resolution, and can't print on CDs/DVDs. Thus it is really the MG7120 that is replacing the MG6320 in my opinion.

SUGGESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
----------------------------

- See below consideration to select it not to automatically shut-off to reduce ink wastage.

- Consider choosing to print "Grayscale" when color isn't necessary, this can lessen the amount of color layering to get black (though the use of grey and colors is not necessarily eliminated). Canon feels the black is better with more color layering, you decide :).

- If the GRAY and ETHERNET (MG7120/MG6320/MG6220) is for sure useless to you and you'd like a SMALLER FORM FACTOR, you might consider looking into the MG5420/MG5320, which are otherwise somewhat similar.

- Use Canon paper when you need optimal results with their ink, and test matte vs. glossy. Matte is much less expensive and may meet most of your needs. Let me know in comments if anyone finds a comparable quality and yet significantly less costly photo paper for this printer, I'd like to test it out.

- When doing black & white, for example text, consider choosing the HIGH QUALITY setting (and perhaps set it as the default) in the printer page set-up, it really makes a difference (though it is slower and uses more ink).

- The Canon site has lots of easy to find product comparison information for these inkjets, you might consider reviewing it before committing on a model. There are errors of omission suggesting differences that are not there, if important you may want to double-check with Canon.

- In case of POWER OUTAGE, it is sometimes necessary to unplug it for A FEW MINUTES and then plug it back in. This allows capacitor discharge. Thanks to Karen for the heads up on this in a comment.

- As soon as you can after getting your printer, print samples of full color, b&w, borderless photos, print on a DVD if that's important to you, etc. Determine if you have a lemon before you get too busy with other things so you can exchange for a good one while it is easy to do. These are complicated machines with lots of parts.

INK USAGE:
-----------

Anyone researching Ink Jet Printers will likely be concerned about ink costs. Here are 6 things you can do to mitigate this with the MG7120:

- Buy the XL versions of the ink, this is supposed to reduce the cost per color page to a very competitive 13-14 cents per page (vs. 16-19 cents).

- As noted above, choose to print black and white or grey scale when that will do just fine. For some documents this can avoid black made from layers of colors. Canon says, for example, MS Word may print in black only with default text color but an Adobe graphics document not saved in a grey scale only format will likely use colors to try to faithfully reproduce the graphics.

- Turn off the automatic shut-off. Standby mode uses 1.0W, so on standby even all year uses around 9kWh/yr., so around $1/yr depending on where you live. This can help lessen the number of minute or so long cleaning routines as it runs around a minute after start-up and sometimes at shutdown. It runs the cleaning other times, too, which is good as it keeps ink from clogging.

- Avoid printing pages with solid or heavily colored background in color when possible.

- Some fonts use 20-40% less ink than others. According to a leading consumer magazine, Times uses much less than Arial which uses much less than Calibri, for example.

- Draft quality mode uses less ink than Standard (and is faster), and of course both use less ink than High quality mode. Note that text is much sharper at high quality.

NOTE #1: If there is no printing or cleaning routine at least once a month or so, select it to run a cleaning routine (easy to do) or turn it off and on to force it to once a month or so to keep the nozzles unclogged. If they clog talk to Canon support for what is often an easy solution.

NOTE #2: The MG6220, 2 quick generations back from the MG7120, had a low ink early warning bug. For example, when I take ink from a MG5320 and put it in a MG6220, the low ink warning bars show the ink as vastly lower. This helps exaggerate the appearance of high ink usage. Actual ink usage is high enough that this bug is pretty unwelcome. If it wasn't for a leading consumer magazine's highest photo quality rating for all-in-ones and their estimated page cost that wasn't crazy, and lots of other favorable reviews, I think this bug could have been much worse for MG6220 sales. This might make you feel better about MG7120's past lineage ink usage wise.

NOTE #3: Gray is supposed to go much faster than the rest, thus you wouldn't want to measure average speed of ink usage based on gray. I haven't tracked it in comparison to the other inks myself.

NOTE #4: Just an informative, probably not very useful factoid :). This model range of Canon inkjet doesn't do a big cleaning/purging after it prints, you are usually hearing head realignment. However, it does quietly "prime the head" to keep the heat from ink clogging the print head and this uses a little ink (even for B&W). This is much less ink than with the big cleaning/purging routine that is much rarer if you set the printer not to auto shut-off.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

INK USAGE CANON DATASHEET:
------------------------------

As it is pretty difficult to find, here below is Canon's published Page Yield per Document numbers (I rounded a little) for MG7120. It is the same as for the MG6320.

I'm not sure how much of the difference between these numbers and users experience is due to the minute or so cleaning routine, difference between test and real world usage, etc.

Here at least you can see real world expected usage ratio between standard and XL cartridges and compare to costs to determine the better value.

HOW MANY SHEETS DOES IT HOLD?:
-----------------------------------

- 80 sheets of standard 24# ink jet paper comfortably (tested).

- Supposed to hold 125 sheets of 20# (not tested). This is what most copier paper is. Some cheaper 20# has LOOSER FIBERS which is NOT AS INKJET FRIENDLY, I'd stick to paper with a surface designed for ink jets, which is usually also 24#. Of course, specialty Canon papers for photos or line art for inkjets are heavier (45#-93#).

- If using 28# paper, expect less than 80 sheets to fit, of course. Sheets whose surface is designed for laser writers are usually also 28#.

5Better than expected
By Alligator Jack
Had a Canon 4600 5 cartridge photo printer that printed beautiful photos exactly matching what I saw on my monitor. Also had a separate scanner that set on edge and was difficult to use. Decided to see if canon had an all-in-one that would take up less space on my desk and be able to scan easier. Checked Amazon as usual and found this wireless printer had just been released by Canon and was being carried by Amazon at a $35 promotion discount under their Prime free priority shipping program. Ordered one, put it on my desk in our bedroom, printed beautiful pictures and crisp email messages from my cell phone in the living room. Has one tray for 5x7 and 4x6 photo papers and another for letter, legal & envelopes. Tried everything. Everything works as well or better than advertised. Quality of photos and text exceptional. This may be due to the additional grey cartridge. Duplex printing quicker than my old printer. Also the printer has a quiet mode that I use. In fact, everything about this printer is better than any printer I have ever used. The installation instructions are precise, clear, easy to understand, and should be followed exactly. Do not try to wing it.
I liked this all-in-one printer so well I ordered and had one shipped free directly to each of 4 grandchildren as early Christmas presents. They love them too.
Just used printer for making a Hallmark birthday card for my wife. you only have to configure the printer once and it retains the configuration for future cards. Used Hallmark Program and Avery Card stock. Card printed beautifully. Colors accurate in colors and shading.

5The Whole Truth on ink cost (please read & save lots of money). Ideal versatile printer. Does everything, installs itself.
By Mad Max
We have tested a LOT of printers - and at one point or another, we have owned every brand of printer.

I really wanted the MG7120 because I loved the last Canon PIXMA I owned. A fantastic versatile machine, great output, slim profile, and super cheap operating cost. But alas, but kids dropped the printer...TWICE! And it still worked!!!...but that second fall broke off the paper tray, so I ended up giving it away.

So the bottom line is, I love the MG7120 even more. This is the first printer that works exactly the way it should. It basically installs itself, maintains itself, does *everything*, beautiful print quality, extremely low operating cost, and versatile enough for home or office.

Yes it has some drawbacks but that doesn't prevent me from giving it 5 stars.

I could talk all day about this printer but here are some highlights:

CLOUD PRINT
If you haven't discovered the world of cloud printing, I strongly suggest downloading Google Cloud Print. You can cloud print with any printer, but this model comes cloud-ready (easier to install/use).

Basically, you can print from anywhere in the world (as long as your printer is turned on). You can also print from just about any modern phone (with the cloud print app). This makes life easier, and it takes about 30 seconds to install Google Cloud Print on your PC, phone, or tablet.

INK
The cartridges that came with the printer have got to be starter cartridges. This was annoying, they only lasted a few days. I recommend ordering ink right away.

The 6th ink cartridge (gray) seems to be a fairly new thing. I can only find this ink in 5-packs (not 6-packs - they are missing the gray), so the gray has to be purchased separately. Not a huge deal since ink is so cheap. This will probably change soon, but just be prepared.

And here's the cost-saving tip for ink:

Modern generics are high-tech. Often, they use the exact same pigments (come off the same assembly line) & use the same chipsets, so the printer recognizes them (well, maybe 95% of the time).

Here's the catch: As I write this (November 2013) this is a fairly new Canon model, so there aren't that many generic inks available. Basically, right now there is one dependable company - Printronic (links below). But give just 2 months, and there will be LOTS more companies making these inks, and the cost will come down even more.

So today, these are the average prices I'm finding for ink replacement: $18.50 per 5-pack ($3.70 per cartridge) and/or $4.66 each per black cartridge (which are twice the capacity of the colors).

Here are two good deals for ink replacement: ASIN # B00DMGF2Z2 & B00EA55G1E. Again, just keep in mind, these prices will be dropping dramatically at the first of the year. And also keep in mind, prices on Amazon fluctuate almost daily.

Biggest Con:

This printer seems to take forever to do just about anything. It set itself up completely on its own...but it said it would take 6-7 minutes, and really took about 25 mins. Booting up takes several minutes. It self-cleans every so often, which interrupts printing & takes several minutes. Powering down takes almost a minute. I still think this is worth 5 stars, but be prepared for this minor annoyance.

Some other notes:

* Sheet capacity is only about 50 sheets, and since we're using in an office setting we're refilling frequently. But the paper tray is super easy to pull out & restock.

* Touch screen controls is super easy. We've never had to connect the printer to the computer via USB, and we've never had to tinker with drivers or settings - everything is on-board through the touch-screen control.

* Scans are quick & easy, scanner works exactly as it should.

* Copy mode is super easy. Just select "Copy" on the touch screen, then press the black/white or color button. One-touch copying for simple jobs, but it also has

* The "special" paper tray handles envelopes, photo paper, and a variety of other unique print jobs.

* With minor tinkering, you can get it to print legal size and also special jobs like CD/DVD printing (though I haven't tried this - you need a printable disc to do this).

* This is almost twice as heavy as the previous PIXMA, and the footprint is bigger. But the unit is still light enough to move around if needed, and the footprint isn't anything to complain about.

* A final note - I believe this unit is worth every penny, at around $150. But if you're not quite certain you need all the bells & whistles (like the cloud print, & the gray ink for quality black/white photos), there are some less expensive PIXMA printers that work just as well for most people. For a small step down, check out the MX922 (around $120). For a starter model, try the MG5420 (under $90).

Hope this helped you save some time & money. Good luck!

5Was worried but really like this case
By Lou
Was really concerned when I bought it but there werent a lot of options around and wanted it protected from day 1.

It was difficult to find something that didnt look cheap, add bulk, but still seamed to protect well. It seems that this case does all of that. I havent dropped it or anything yet, but seems pretty solid.

I'll rate the features 1-10...obviously my opinion based on my criteria above

Aesthetics: 10
Can't be more pleased. I got the silver one and it offsets the silver trim on the black phone perfectly. The color use is not overwhelming and adds enough highlight to still keep the phone clean and sharp looking. Its seems like the silver matches the color shown in the picture. Cant speak for the other colors.

Feel: 9
I wanted something that would keep the dimpled back of the phone. I like that feature on the S5. This case covers it, but has its own design that mimics the feel. The "grip" really only works if the phone is lying on its back, as the sides are clearly plastic and like anything that you do not grip well, it can slip our of your hand. The only solution would be to have a case with rubber or gel sides which may add more grip, but wasnt something I was concerned about when purchasing.

The case has rounded outside corners, but the surface and back edges are more square with the case on. It actually makes the phone feel more durable to me.

Ports and Buttons: 7
All the ports line up well, perhaps with exception to the IR sensor and mic on top. Its ever so slightly off...negligible really. Both work perfectly regardless of this.

The headphones port is awesome. Plenty of space for any jack you need to use.

I had no issue with the case and the finger print sensor. The sensor itself is a bit touchy but had nothing to do with the case.

The surface lip seems large enough to do its job and protect the screen when placed face down. I put a spigen screen protector on as well and I think its protected from scratches pretty well at this point.

Someone mentioned the "metal buttons: being plastic and loose. These are both true, but the plastic doesnt bother mean. I prefer it, to be honest. The rest of the phone is plastic so I didnt really want 1 or 2 pieces of metal. The buttons do have some play in them and wiggle a bit, but its nothing that affects the performance of the buttons or phone. They dont feel like theyre going to fall our or anything. Not an issue for me.

The charger port...this was probably the one thing that bothered me at first, and why I rated this a 7. The first time I tried to charge my phone I could not get my finger in the slot to get at the flap that covers the charging port. The thin straight piece that is directly below the home button was severely in the way. What I did figure out though is if I had opened the port cover once or twice without having the case on I would have had no problem. The port cover is a little snug right out of the box. After opening it a few times WITH the case on I have no problem now and I've only had the phone for a day or 2. If you have abnormally short nails, however, or are prone to chewing them you will have issues with this. This issues was nearly a deal breaker for me and the case was going back until it loosened up a bit.

I like everything else about this case, so I was pretty pissed when I thought I had to send it back.

Short of the long, if you like the look of the case in the pics you will like the case even more in person and on your phone...at least for the silver border. If you're looking to be able to throw the phone off a bridge and have it survive then this probably isnt the case for you. If you're going to drop it out of your pocket or something then I think you're all set with this one. For what I was looking for, it has a perfect balance of aesthetics and protection

5Otterbox what?
By Jps101
Really nice looking case. Also ordered a Otterbox after previously using on my other 2 smartphones. Was otterly sick of the same old design. Don't get me wrong, otterbox cases do what they are suppose to, it's just they are butt ugly.

My s5 looks way sleeker in this case. Never heard of a spiegen before this but they made a compelling case (pun intended) for this case with the that design. On top, it feels it's doing what it should, protect the phone.

This case for the person who wants equal style/protection. Def recommend buying for any new s5 owner. Brings up the semi ugly style of the phone to appear great! Dimples away

5Best yet
By waggs
I've had many phones phones and three galaxy phones. This is my favorite case because of its simplicity and the accuracy of build design. It's as thin as it can be while providing good protection, including a decent lip around the screen. It's comfortable in the hand and I find it nicer to hold than an un-cased phone. I like the buttons while they feel a little loose in the holes I understand they do need room to move. Yes the USB port is hard to open but it is anyway and that's the price you pay for a waterproof phone. If you bite your nails then good luck opening it without a tool. I believe Spigen made the opening as big as they could without encapsulating the mic along with it. It is what it is. Things I'd like to see is a metal band instead of plastic... maybe anodized aluminum? The option to buy the band separately so you could change colors would be great. Also real metal buttons would be pretty cool. This would increase the price considerably however I think people would pay the extra money to get these things. I would. The headphone jack opening is huge so they really nailed it there. The best way to put your case on the S5 is to assemble it first, then just pop your phone in one end then the two remaining corners. It was pretty easy that way. Great case well worth 20 bucks.

5Cassett pick up works great
By Norman Brown Jr.
I was surprised that the sound quality was excellent. No feed back, no distortion at all.
A whole lot better then trying to listen to blue tooth with the background interference. Received in excellent condition as promised.

5Good quality!!
By Michael
Its being about 2-3 months now of usage and have had no issues at all so I have no complaints, just be aware all cassete players will make noise at top volume when there is no music playing (you don't expect it to be like CD quality), I think this adapter should be one of the quitest.

2Worked fine for a couple of weeks
By Ryan M.
This was exactly what I was looking for, however after less than a month of light usage, this morning it started being rejected by the tape deck in my car. It looks like one of the fake spools has started to stick. Too bad, really. I liked it before then. I'm glad it wasn't very expensive.

5Works like a mouse pad.
By spottedred
I'm not really a connoisseur of mouse pads. I think this is the first one I've ever paid for. But, it seems to be the best mouse pad I've had. Works great with our optical mouse, and it's not too thick or too thin.

I'm not sure that a mouse pad deserve much more of a review than that.

3Decent basic mouse pad, but it smells terrible
By Brian
This is very basic mouse pad. It's perfectly functional and has a good mousing surface. However, it positively reeks of rubber. It smells strongly enough that you notice it when sitting next to it at your work station, and it permeates your hand while using it. Expect your mousing hand to smell like cheap tires or, in my opinion, somewhat like old cigarette smoke after using it for any length of time. It is difficult to wash the odor away.

1Ungodly smell will haunt you indefinitely
By Daniel S. Dunnam
Other people have complained about the odor, but I just want to reiterate this issue.

I was struck by how bad it smelled when I got it, but I figured after a few days the smell would dissipate and it wouldn't be an issue.

I was wrong. It was like my desk had a chemical plant sitting on it, emitting hazardous toxins into my nose at all times. It's hard to explain just how bad this smell is. It smells like an abusive relationship. Or a bum fight initiated by frat boys. Or dying alone with no friends to attend your funeral. Or whatever the worst possible thing you can imagine is. Seriously, that bad.

But to be less metaphoric, it smells like some sort of noxious chemical run-off odor, mixed with pungent body odor and a stale ashtray.

Your wrist rubs on this thing, and makes your sleeve smell like its putrescence.

After 5 days of it being on my desk and giving me a headache and it's odor not fading, I decided to try washing it. I used hot water and lots of strong soap. This had no effect.

After another few days, still unable to breath comfortably at my own desk, I threw it in the trash and closed the lid.

Here's the worst part: I threw it away over a week ago and my desktop STILL smells like that awful thing. Even in its absence it still almost triggers my gag reflex at times. I've washed my desktop surface multiple times now, with three different wood cleaners, letting them soak in, and STILL it wreaks.

I would not recommend this product to anyone, unless they were trying to ruin someone's desk with it.
