5Cassett pick up works great
By Norman Brown Jr.
I was surprised that the sound quality was excellent. No feed back, no distortion at all.
A whole lot better then trying to listen to blue tooth with the background interference. Received in excellent condition as promised.

5Good quality!!
By Michael
Its being about 2-3 months now of usage and have had no issues at all so I have no complaints, just be aware all cassete players will make noise at top volume when there is no music playing (you don't expect it to be like CD quality), I think this adapter should be one of the quitest.

2Worked fine for a couple of weeks
By Ryan M.
This was exactly what I was looking for, however after less than a month of light usage, this morning it started being rejected by the tape deck in my car. It looks like one of the fake spools has started to stick. Too bad, really. I liked it before then. I'm glad it wasn't very expensive.

5Very happy with this DVD player!
By Josie Whales
I am very happy with this purchase. It's fairly light weight and easy to use. I did find, however, that in pushing the buttons to make it work is like clicking the buttons on a cheap kids toy. Have to use the remote control for volume control. Has good sound especially when using ear phones. So all in all, I am very happy with it.

Excellent audio. Very portable. I use it when riding my stationary bike. Picture is excellent. I was looking for a model to mount in front of my stationary bike and this was perfect.

5I'm happy.
By Michele Wieser
I love this stereo, before this all I had was the stock cassette player in my car. So this was a giant step up for me in car stereo world. I'm not totally old school nor am I a car audio geek, but this was a breeze to pair with my Galaxy S4 and links up to Pandora and Bluetooth audio nicely. I've also used the USB and aux ports, which both worked perfectly. I should also add that making calls Bluetooth works quite well with this stereo; it comes with a microphone that you can position how you like in your car. So far I've had no complaints about the sound quality of calls. It also comes with a little remote which is a nice addition to the package, even though I don't always use it, but it's cool to have it. So in short, this is a pretty damn fine car stereo and I definitely recommend it to anyone in the market for a reasonably priced stereo with Bluetooth (for calls and music), and aux and USB ports.

5Great Value and iPhone integration in my Subaru. Pair it with a decent pair of speakers.
By swenpaylay
This is a really solid deck for a good price. I was looking for a fairly stripped down receiver that had bluetooth/iPhone integration and little else.

I didn't need satellite radio, I didn't need overly sophisticated EQ adjustments. Just good power, good looks, and Siri.

I researched thoroughly and came up with this Pioneer unit. It's great! It beat out a similar Alpine unit because it supposedly has superior Siri 'Eyes-Free' support.

Note: Does not have SD card slot as description says. USB, though.

I installed this along with a pair of thin Polk Audio speakers in the front of my 2007 Subaru WRX and couldn't be happier. They pair well and sound very, very good. No need for sub or rear upgrades, in my opinion. This is plenty for me and I am a borderline audiophile. I highly recommend upgrading the two front speakers in the car along with the deck or you'll get rattles and blown speakers. At least thats the case with Subarus and most non-luxury brands. With the Polks and the deck, and the fader about 70% to the front speakers, I have barely noticeable distortion at maximum volume. I used the 'powerful' EQ preset along with med loudness and 3 on the bass boost and it's great for hip-hop and house music. For honkey tonk and acoustic stuff, I'll probably turn the bass booster down but leave the rest. Yes, diversity in music taste. I run 320k MP3s exclusively. Haven't tested a CD yet. The FM tuner seems a little on the weak side but it has settings I haven't played with yet. The one AM station i listen to barely came in.

It's also much better looking than last years model both in layout and lighting. The dimmer keeps it from being obnoxious. I don't use the light effects except for when the phone rings. The fact that you can fine tune the lighting effects was a big selling point for me.

Bluetooth audio and phone conversations are perfect. I mounted the mic on my steering column. iPhone synced easily and reconnects when i turn the car on. Seems to be efficient with power compared to other bluetooth systems I've used. All contacts and track titles load on to the deck so when someone calls you know who it is.

No complaints so far. Some complain about it being too dim or too bright. Have you people had an aftermarket deck? it's always been an issue. I had a Clarion deck in my previous car, and I had to put electrical tape over the screen because it was blinding at night. Seriously, dangerous. The dimmer button gives you several brightness settings to match the situation. I keep mine turned down all the way and keep it green to match the Subaru's interior lights, and I can actually see it better in the day time than the factory unit.

I bought a 32gig USB stick, one of the tiny Sandisc ones, to pair with the deck. I plan to format it in FAT32 and load a big chunk of my library and have it dedicated for the car. This will save iPhone battery for music and probably marginally increase audio quality. I'll update the review with that info.

UPDATE: I went on a 10 hour road trip with the unit over the weekend and installed the 'SanDisk Cruzer Fit CZ33 32GB USB Flash Drive.'

The flash drive in the USB slot worked great. Very good quality and the interface for finding music is decent enough. I just made sure I was orderly with the files and deleted 'The' from the names of bands. It plays continuously and picks up where you left off when you get back in the car. It was a pain to get the music on the drive in an orderly way . A lot of my older files were apple AAC (which isn't supported) so i had to manually convert to mp3 and there was a loss of quality there. Other than that, though, I'm glad i got it done. having a 32 gig dedicated flash drive for the unit is awesome.

On the road, I did notice a problem with glare. Some people said the unit is too dim for bright daytime settings, but that's not the case. It's that the screen is too glossy in the plastic and it constantly reflects. I will probably trim an iphone anti-glare screen protector for this issue. Overall, though, it didn't bother me much.

Siri worked great on the road with the unit. Calls were clear and I checked NFL scores since I had to drive on a Sunday. When playing music through USB, the unit switches to the phone and back automatically for calls and Siri.

***A BIG However, if you use iPhone navigation, you have to use Bluetooth Audio for the directions to come through the car. This means that if you want that seamless fade out of the music for Siri to tell you where to go, you have to run BTA and NAV at the same time, which means your battery will last about 5 minutes in the phone. I don't fault the deck though, I'm sure it's an iPhone software thing.

Driving at midnight in the middle of nowhere in pitch darkness, the unit was still too bright even on the lowest setting. It wasn't blinding like other decks I've had, but I wish i could have turned it down a little bit more. Or, if it could be wired into the car's OEM dimmer wire that would be nice.

Overall, I'm very happy. Never had better sound on a road trip.

4Bought it for the bluetooth, it is a good replacement to my stock stero
By Alexander M.
I bought this car stereo because I wanted bluetooth in my car (Toyota Matrix). I had a Motorola Roadster and that was not that great. I figured a constantly powered bluetooth unit would be good.

This unit came with a microphone, which is a good thing. I pulled the wire through and it comes out to the side of the driver side visor. I have the microphone clipped on there - on the visor.

Testing out the bluetooth, the sound quality is quite good on the receiving side. In the car, the audio comes out of the car speakers, so there is no problem there.

Overall, for what I bought it for, i.e. Bluetooth, it works great.

As a stereo unit, I would say this is what I would expect. It has a lot of "features" with it, but honestly, I think those are mostly bells and whistles that does not add to the performance of the unit.

Bluetooth audio from my cell phone (Galaxy S3) played without incident. Quick and simple, just connect the phone and select BT Audio as the source. Done.

CD Audio and Radio is simple. I don't have to review these I think. This is such old technology now that they just work.

USB playback had a hiccup. I have a 16GB USB key that I loaded up with MP3s. I used Windows Media Player to sync the MP3s onto the USB key. This automatically created the folder structure on the USB key. In total, I started off with a total of about 570 MP3s within about 530 folders.

What I found was that some folders were not readable. It would report that there are no files to play within some folders.

At first I thought this meant that the player had a maximum number of files and / or folders that it could read from USB. To test this out, I deleted the folder structure on the USB key and manually copied the same folder structure back to the USB key, but a smaller chunk at a time to see if I can find the threshold.

In the end, I copied all the files back to the USB key in the same folder structure I had before and now everything is readable. I do not know why this is the case, but something funny may have happened when I used the "sync" function to copy the files in.

The panel lights need to be selected to your taste. Some colours are too bright for night time and some are too dark for day time driving. I would suggest picking one colour that works for all hours of the day and leaving it. That way, at least you can read the panel / display.

One final note about the display is that the plastic is actually quite polished. That means that it reflects the sun quite nicely. This makes it near impossible to read the screen when the sun is in the right location to shine against the display.

Overall, this unit works and is good for the bluetooth feature that I got it for. It plays my MP3s from USB, CD, radio and even BT audio from my phone. My only complaints are more cosmetic and aesthetic.

EDIT:
I did some further testing of the USB problem and I believe this unit has an upper limit of around 500 folders on the USB device before it starts to fail at reading the directories. I drop the number of folders (by lumping the MP3 files together in a folder) and now everthing is playing properly and can be found - consistently.

It is of course more difficult to "search" for a specific song, as the only way I can see to pick a song is by browsing the folder structure. I had so many folders because I separated the files by artist and albumn. Now I am only doing alphabetical (A - Z).

2Work for iPad but not USB devices
By Mark
The packaging for the Scosche USBC202M dual iPad charger states "Works with iPad ... Android Devices"
That is misleading.

Short version: if the technical info below means nothing to you, don't buy this charger to use with any device except the iPad:

===
This will apparently charge the iPad at the full 2.1 amp rate (I haven't tried it with two iPads but based on other reviews assume it will do that too).

However, I bought two of these - for my iPad AND two different cell phones (Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Android and HTC HD2, Windows Mobile) which can both be charged at around 1 amp but neither of which will charge at more than 0.5 amp using this charger - the same rate achieved from a computer USB slot.
Other car chargers work just fine, using this one actually causes my Samsung phone to have less battery after a few hours driving than when I started.
This is also not immediately apparent because the phones look like they are charging but when you watch the charge over a few hours, or (with the Samsung) check the charging status, it says "USB charging".

This is caused by a USB/iDevice design challenge; to protect computers, early USB spec stated that no USB device may draw more than 0.5 amp unless the computer agrees to it. Later USB specs allow the two USB data pins to be shorted to go up to 1.7 amps - this is what my phone needs. As I understand it, the iPad requires specific signals on the 2 data lines to use the full 2.1 amp charge rate, and if connected to a charger that has shorted data pins - i.e. one that works well for most phones, will not charge at the full rate, if it charges at all. All this regardless of the maximum charge current the charger can provide.

My workaround is to acquire a cable that shorts the data pins for just the outlet I want to use with the phone.

Otherwise, for anyone that has two iPads, this is a super device - the smallest dual port iPad (2x 2.1A) charger I have seen yet and I love the low profile (most vehicle chargers consume way too much space outside of the vehicle outlet).

It would have given 3 stars if it had not used misleading wording on the packaging, 4 stars if the packaging had pointed out the USB challenges, and 5 stars if it had a mechanical or electronic switch to make it compatible with other modern USB devices.

4Needs a 'charge only' cable for Google Nexus 7
By Brad
As many reviews before state, this charger is designed for Apple devices. It requires a charge only cable to comply with the USB standards required by many android devices, which includes the Google Nexus 7.

5Great and powerful charger but you need a "charge only cable" for USB Devices!
By Techguru
The charger is great and provides an AC charge to my Samsung Galaxy S3. This basically means that using the charger with a "charge only" USB cable will make your phone think that it is plugged into the wall. Apple products DO NOT have this issue with charging on USB chargers as the technology that developed with the Apple charging system was designed to circumvent that specific problem. Apple users are good to go with any of their native cables. If you have an Android device, you will need to purchase a "charge only" USB cable...I cannot emphasize that enough!

Normal USB cables carry both data and charge and the data "communicates" with the USB effectively limiting the amount of power that can be received from a USB charger.

I can run GPS/Bluetooth /music/video and everything in between all a once and my phone will still charge via AC as confirmed on my GS3's charging screen. Normally it would say "USB charge" if i used my phones normal USB cable.

Here is the selection of "charge only" USB cables from 3BR Powersports, LLC that I use: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aag/main?ie=UTF8&asin=&isAmazonFulfilled=&isCBA=&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&orderID=&seller=ATHXXHPG0APQN

4A little modification...
By Leonard Part 6
Smart phones and tablets have two charging modes: USB and AC. The mode the phone uses depends on what it thinks is charging it. If it thinks it is connected to a dumb charger it will go into AC mode and ask for as much current as it needs. If it thinks it is connected to a computer it goes into USB mode and asks for 500 mA because that is what the USB bus on most computers is capable of providing. Because of this, USB charge mode charges much more slowly than AC mode and on some devices that need a large amount of current (like iPads) USB mode might not charge your device at all (the device will still be receiving charge, just not enough, so it will lose battery, just at a slower pace).

When I hooked my phone into this charger it went into USB charge mode (500 mA) even though the charger is rated at 2.1 Amps (it is 2 Amps max shared between the two ports but I have not checked to see if that means 1 Amp per port, or if only one port is connected that single port can use the full 2 Amps). The way that your phone determines which mode to enter depends on if the data pins of the USB port are shorted together or not; if they are shorted (the data pins are the center pins of the 4 pin USB connector) it will enter AC mode, otherwise it thinks it is a computer port and will enter USB mode. On this charger the pins are not shorted. I have found this to be the case with the overwhelming majority of chargers I have experimented with. They are rated for 1 Amp or more but consistently put my phone into USB mode. I assume this is because you can buy regular USB connectors in bulk much more cheaply than you can buy a properly wired AC charging USB connector. So the ability to put out more than 500 mA is there, your phone just will never ask for more.

It is easy enough to fix the charger so that it will enter AC mode if you know how to solder. You just unscrew the power end of the charger where the fuse is, then use a flat head screw driver to pop the casing open down the seam. Once you do this you are left with the circuit board that the USB connectors are attached to. Solder the center pins together on each USB port (it's a somewhat tight fit soldering the port on the side where the LED is connected but completely doable) and then just pop it all back together. If you are careful in taking it apart you won't damage the casing at all. After doing this my phone and all other device I have tried report that they are in AC mode.

I have tried charging an iPad with this charger (both by itself and with another device connected) and in both cases it reports that it is "Not Charging". This leads me to believe that it is a max of 1 Amp on each port (the iPad needs 2.1 Amps, at least when the screen is on). If you put the iPad to sleep it charges fine, with or without another device connected on the other port. And again, when an iPad or iPhone says that it is not charging, it is still "charging" just not fast enough to meet the needs of the device so the battery will still get drained.

I hope this helps anyone who has had problems with the charger or is considering buying it. I think it works perfectly fine (then again I was irritated with it until I modded it). It is really difficult to tell if one of these chargers is wired for AC mode until you get your hands on it and try it out. And if you have a device that doesn't check the data pins and kick itself into USB mode you should get the full current of the charger without modding it. It is technically the phone that is limiting the current being delivered not the charger.

Update:
Wow, they raised the price on this charger to $20. It was $10 when I got it. I wouldn't pay $20 for it. Buy a mini or a micro charger that sits flush with your dash (or close to it). This charger is pretty big. Or get a charger that can do a dedicated 2 Amps on one of the ports. I'd say it is worth it for $10 but not much more.

4Bulky, Cheap Looking, but Functional
By Glenn R. Howes
I've been using a now unavailable Kensington PowerBolt as my car charger, mainly for my iPhone 4, but occasionally to reanimate my iPad 2. A single USB socket is fine for commuting, but on long car trips when my car is filled with children and gadgets, a double socket makes for a lot less futzing.

I tested this by charging my iPhone 4 while in use, while simultaneously charging a Kindle Fire and it seems to work fine. On my 40 minute commute, I can add about 20% to the charge status of the Kindle while topping of the iPhone, all without any overheating or fuses popping. A couple years ago, I went through many chargers trying to find one that could reliably power an active iPhone, so I'm glad that cool running chargers have become so inexpensive even while powering two devices.

Devices I've tested and found to work:
iPhone 4
iPhone 4S
iPod Touch 3rd Generation
Kindle Fire
Kodak Playful pocket video camera
Sony Bloggie Touch camera (Needs a USB extension cable or it blocks the other charging port.)
Remington hair clipper
Jabra Extreme Bluetooth headset

Devices I've tested which didn't work:
HP Touchpad

Materials are pretty cheap looking, and the device is much, much larger than the PowerBolt; this makes it easier to insert and remove but I'd have been happier with something compact as the large size makes it easy to knock it out of kilter and stop charging which you might not notice while concentrating on driving. This can be really annoying. So not a perfect charger by any means, but a useful budget model.

5much better than griffin charger
By Run
I have been using it since last two weeks now. This is simply awesome product.

I have used "Griffin Powerjolt Dual Universal USB Micro" before and AmazonBasic is much better than Griffin for following reason

1) Design: Griffin is so small that it gets stuck in the car charger. Amazon basic is perfect size .. neither too small nor too big (it looks huge in pics but actually is small)
2) Charging time: This is why you buy a car charger ... Amazonbasic is 2.1 amp vs griffin which is 1 amp... Amazonbasic charger charges phone twice as fast griffin. I use iphone 4 and it gets fully charged (from 10% battery) while i m listening to music in an hr
3) Quality: Griffin use to get very hot (and even my phone use to get hot) after 1 hr of charging ... amazon car charger is of much better quality ... I have used it all day and neither charger nor phones get hot

Overall I would highly recommend this product if u have a iphone (or any smart phone). Whether you are charging one device or two devices simultaneously it charges faster than any other product in market

UPDATE: Aug 28: Its been 10 months and this product is awesome... Actually I have noticed that my iPhone changes faster in car compared to even wall socket.

5Know the Details
By AudioDude411
People should be aware that you can no longer create new Sirius accounts. You should also know that you can't use this tuner with a "Sirius-Ready", "XM-Ready", or "Satellite-Ready" radio and that it works only with newer radios that have the "SiriusXM" logo. The reason for this is you no longer have to purchase a tuner made for a specific brand. This tuner is universal and works with any brand. This is a big plus should you decide to change radio brands in the future because you can still use the same satellite tuner.

3XM receiver!
By Richard
I have been a Sirius subscriber since 2004 and never had a problem. I purchased a car that did not have any satellite radio recently, so I purchased this receiver and a new compatible deck. Being that Sirius and XM merged since I last bought a radio, I assumed that new radios received SiriusXM "combined" programming since all new radios say "SiriusXM". That is not the case. This is an XM radio. If you want the sirius programming you are used to, you must subscribe to additional programing, thus raising your rates.

SiriusXM is ONE company, but are now fleecing their subscribers by separating their programming.
It should be explained in the details of this product that this is an XM radio, Sirius programming will cost extra.

Perfect, If your head unit says SiriusXM ready, this is the adapter you need. Be aware this is an XM receiver, not a Sirius stereo, they are the same company but it requires the "everything" subscription for NFL and Howard Stern.
