5Overachiever
By Don
After looking at the star ratings and comments for various CD players online, and finding most nothing to brag about, I wandered down to a local store and bought the RCA model RP3013 because it was good looking, had great controls, was cheap enough, and it was an RCA. I also liked having an FM tuner. It comes with earbuds, but I just plugged in a set of my Sennheisers....I'm a traditionalist.

After using it for a week, I am more than happy with my choice.

First, the LCD is on top and easy to read. The buttons for play/pause, stop/off, eq, program, forward and back are also on top of the unit in the form of individual buttons in a semi-circle, very straightforward. Two AA's inside, under a cover....easy to install, unless you have sausage links for fingers. Sound is fine, but not the same as you'd expect from your iPod. Better than I expected however, and yes, I also own a large capacity iPod. The FM radio brings in my stations quite well, with an ST indicator to hone in on the best frequency.

Only negative, it has a wheel for volume, and another wheel for radio station selection, although the selected station is visible in the LCD window. I would have preferred electronic volume and tuning buttons. Kind of a surprising omission, but I can live with it. Just not crazy about wheels. Kind of 80's technology.

Anyhow, overall, very intuitive controls, good sound, decent battery life, a good purchase.

5An excellent portable CD player
By Mary K.
This CD player was a very pleasant surprise. Most of the experiences with portable CD players have not been good. This player is easy to operate the sound is very good and FM radio is clear. An excellent purchase for the money.

5Quality & Looks Great
By D. Mitchelle
I am so happy with this CD player/radio! My Sony finally bit the dust and I decided to try another brand. This RCA is simple to use, even the compartment for battery replacement is easy to find. I use this when I go on walks and have had no problems with radio reception. The quality of CD sound is really good. I bought one for my Mom.

5HD pico projector! best I've used.
By peatreat
Purchased directly from the manufacturer before it was available on Amazon and was very impressed. The 300 lumens was much brighter than the other picos I used in the past and the high resolution makes all my videos look MUCH better. It is slightly larger than my first pico projector but the performance totally makes up for it.

What I liked most about this pico projector was the optional battery pack. There aren't any other pico projectors with this brightness on battery power. The battery doesnt take any additional space as it fits right into the projector.

Installation takes 2-3 minutes which wasnt too bad. Three screws, place battery in and close. Very much worth the time since I like to watch shows on my backyard wall. I even set up a giant piece of white vinyl as a projection screen.

4Big Things Can Come in Small Packages
By W. Zide
I wanted a compact projector for occasional use that would not break the bank, has good resolution, reasonable brightness (up to a 10' projection distance) and could be easily carried in my laptop bag. The Aaxa P300 fit my needs perfectly. It is relatively quiet. I found the LED projection system to be a big plus - no need to wory about vibration or accidental bumping damaging the projection bulb or the need to carry a spare. I also liked the flexible small tripod for holding the projector. It made finding an optimum projection angle a breeze. Focusing is a little tricky as the focusing knob is a bit course. As the unit warms up, you may need to adjust the focus. Setting the resolution to match my XP laptop was inconsistent. The WXGA 1280x800 is the best display setting but I had difficulty switching my PC to it when the P300 was connected through the display connector. I found it easier to set the PC resolution before connecting the P300. The onscreen display is easy to navigate and it is reasonably intuitive as to what most of the icons refer to. The user manual is a bit terse. They invite you to call the company for user support and to provide feedback, but I have not found a need to do so. The transformer (110-240VAC) cord is 6' long. Best to bring your own extension cord if you will be farther from a power outlet. The P300 does not have a lens cover nor does it come with a traveling case. I use 2 ziploc plastic bags, a 1qt bag to protect the projector and a 1 gal bag to hold the projector, transformer, tripod and display cord.

4It delivers
By Dean
This was the first projector I ever purchased, so I was concerned about the return policy. When Amazon started selling it directly, I took the chance.

The projector has been a great find. It's bright enough for the rooms I use it in, which are partly to fully lit office conference rooms with whiteboards. I haven't tried to use it on a really big screen or wall, and probably never will.

You CANNOT run powerpoint slideshows directly from this device's built-in media manager software. You need to export your deck to Pictures (on Powerpoint's File menu), then copy them to the media (I use a microSD card, you can also use a USB stick).

So far, the firmware doesn't let you choose the slide transition animations, so you are stuck with having the projector's software embed its own randomly chosen transitions... imagine all the cheesy floating in, flipping, sliding, pixelating, etc. that Powerpoint offers, and you have the idea. This can't be turned off, so even if you don't want animated effects between your slides or pictures, too bad, you are getting them anyway. Hopefully this is changed in firmware updates very soon.

But overall, the transitions are a tiny irritation for a projector that will never need a bulb replaced, fits in a pocket in my bag, and doesn't need a laptop *or even electricity* to show a meeting-length presentation.

No regrets here, I am very happy with the purchase.

5Very happy with this DVD player!
By Josie Whales
I am very happy with this purchase. It's fairly light weight and easy to use. I did find, however, that in pushing the buttons to make it work is like clicking the buttons on a cheap kids toy. Have to use the remote control for volume control. Has good sound especially when using ear phones. So all in all, I am very happy with it.

5Sony continue to produce solid bluray players and this is no exception.
By Adrian
The BDP-S6200 lives at the top of Sony's North American bluray players range for 2014. This player is essentially a replacement to the well liked 2012 BDP-S790 Sony BDPS790 3D Blu-ray Player with Wi-Fi with a few features removed, but a few features added. More on that in a moment.

The player keeps the familiar XMB (Cross Media Bar) interface just like its previous players. Its functional but I can't help feel its days are numbered since Sony has done away with it on their TV range. You can choose to start the player in the Sony Entertainment Network portal if you wish ... but it really doesn't offer you anything different from starting the player normally within the XMB.

This top player gets a dual core processor (like the BDP-S790) so disks load fast and app navigation is zippy. A good test is to use the Youtube app that seems pretty CPU intensive. You can normally weed out under performers with that app .... but the BDP-S6200 handles YouTube very well.

App support is solid enough, with new a new Crackle app that supports Crackle favorites. There is a new Hulu app too, but that was released across last years players too. The player also sees the new Netflix interface which is very nice too.

The player also features a new Amazon App for 2014. It's certainly more visual than the older one but I think it's going to take a few software updates to get it tweaked just right.

The player also has the Opera TV store with a bunch of apps in that too ... so you should be well supported for apps. Note, often asked but there is no HBO Go app on this player.

The player itself, I think looks very stylish ... however if you are looking for more conservative styling, you may want to pick up a older BDP-S790. It doesn't seem as solid as the older BDP-S790 ... but it seems many mass market electronic manufacturers are heading in this direction as a whole, so I'm not really surprised here.

Please note though, that despite Amazon's or Sony product description, there is only 1 HDMI output on the player !!

Now, if you already own a 2013 x100 player from Sony, such as the BDP-5100 Sony BDP-S5100 3D Blu-ray Disc Player with Wi-Fi, what does this new player offer?

You will get the benefit of Super bit mapping (SBM) which improves color banding evident on internet video, improved DVD upscaling with additional levels of picture adjustment, IP Noise reduction pro for internet video, new audio enhancer, the new Netflix app, a new Crackle app and maybe a new Amazon app once it comes on line.

For 2012 owners that have the BDP-S790, upgrading to a BDP-S6200 they get the benefit of the new audio enhancer, the new netflix app (with 5800kbps support), a new Crackle app and maybe a new Amazon app. They also get improved codec support in MKVs with MPEG2 and VC-1 video codecs. If they have a 2013 or above Sony TV, and appropriate BD media, they can take advantage of extended color (Triluminos). They also get screen mirroring with Android phone and tablets.
They loose the extra HDMI output, Skype support and arguably less solid build.

Again the player does not include a HDMI cable so buyer be pre-warned. Also, as with new bluray players, there is no analog outputs on the player so you're TV must support HDMI. There is a digital coaxial output for receivers that dont support HDMI for audio.

If you do buy one of these and can't figure out how to get HD audio (DTS-MA or Dolby TrueHD) output from the player be sure to switch off BD-Audio mix AND the audio enhancer in the audio settings.

Overall, its another solid Bluray player from Sony with some marginal improvements over last years player ... but nothing earth shattering. Recommended.

Thanks for reading.

- update 3/22/14
The new Amazon App is now up and running, as is VUDU on the BDP-S6200. You will need to download a firmware update to enable these apps.

5A whole lot of player for not much money
By R.D. Monsoon
Sony has really pulled out all of the stops here, producing a highly versatile media unit at a pretty affordable price.

The S6200 replaces the BDPS790 to become Sony's new flagship Blu-ray player.

The only lost feature is that the 790 came with dual HDMI ports to support people who have a 3D TV and an A/V receiver that does not support 3D passthrough. And the construction of the 790 was arguably a bit better.

Not only is the 6200 significantly cheaper than its predecessor, but it comes with some notable upgrades.

Let me go through the various capabilities of the unit.

1. Blu-ray: At this point there's really no measurable difference in picture and sound quality between players -- they all produce vibrant picture and sound. The main difference is load time, and the 6200 is very fast with its dual core processor.

2. Streaming: The 6200 supports a slew of streaming apps (HBO GO is the major exception, and at the time of writing this review, Amazon Instant is not yet ready). Sony's new Netflix app is quite impressive. Not only are load times extremely fast, but it takes about a second for the video video quality to get to the optimal level. There's virtually no lag with scrubbing. Finally, the new Netflix app supports Dolby Digital Plus.

Hopefully the new Amazon will prove to be as well designed.

3. Music: Audiophiles rejoice. New to the 6200 is support for multichannel FLAC and DSD (DFF and DSF) files. As far as I'm aware, only the significantly more expense OPPO BDP-103 and 105 can do the latter.

Sony continues to provide SACD support with DSD over HDMI.

Suggested audio settings:

DSD Output Mode: On
BD Audio MIX Setting: Off (has to be off to bitstream DTS-HD and DD-HD)
Digital Music Enhancer: Off
DTS Neo:6: Off
Audio DRC: Off
Downmix: Surround

I personally turn off all of the video enhancer settings -- the video on Blu-rays is authored with assumption that no such settings will be used.

Overall, it's quite impressive everything the 6200 will do, especially at its price point. In fact, anyone thinking of buying an Oppo should reconsider, especially if you plan on using an A/V receiver to process all of the sound.

===============

UPDATE #1: Sony says the Amazon App will be available in early April.
UPDATE #2: I've now installed the Amazon App. As far as I can tell, the UI is the same as the one found in other recent devices, such as smart TVs. While it's certainly an improvement from the old Amazon App that the came with previous Sony Blu-ray players, navigation is sluggish (especially compared to the Netflix app), and the load time to get to optimal video quality is a solid 30 seconds to 1 minute. Further, my Roku circa 2009 has a superior UI and much faster load time. Given that the Sony has the processing power to load video very fast -- as displayed by the Netflix app -- I can't help but wonder if Amazon is purposely throttling speeds so to push people into buying their streaming device -- make it seem like the only way to get Amazon Prime videos to instantly load is with their box. Despite the disappointment with the Amazon app, the 6200 is still a solid video streaming unit, but depending on your needs (such as HBOGO), it doesn't quite match Roku.

4Very Impressive on 4K TV
By A. Leblanc
The most impressive 4K upscaling I've viewed after using this machine
a little over a month is the playback of LAWRENCE OF ARABIA on Blu
Ray with the Sony 55" 4K TV. I've downloaded a few films in 4K with the Sony 4K Media Player
and the BDPS6200 playback is in such instances comparable to the resolution the
Media Player offers. Concerning a previous Amazon posting on the player's
app for Amazon streaming, just today I received an email from Sony saying
the Amazon app on this machine now works. Of course the app was also
on my Sony TV at the time of installation and worked all along. The most impressive
3D I've viewed on this player is GRAVITY and the fake 3D in JURASSIC PARK. If only
Warner's/MGM would release KISS ME KATE in 3D I'd be super happy!

5upgrade from avh-p1400dvd
By Jerry Fang
I've upgrade from the low end avh-p1400dvd to this avh-x4600bt and what a difference it made. The sound is more clearer and my subs hits hard, thanks to the 4v pre-amp. Bluetooth is amazing. I can stream music from my Rooted Note 2 via bluetooth. I can control Pandora and browse media off my SD card. Everything about this deck is awesome. I am saving up to get the dedicated mirrorlink adapter from Pioneer so I can mirror my Note 2 on the screen and have full control. Why spend $400 for a pioneer gps module when you can mirror ur android and use the gps on ur android phone. cheaper. I highly recommend this 7in indash dvd to anyone.

4great unit
By Dan
Works and looks great in my GMC Sierra 2500
Fits well without any extra trim, just needed to fabricate mounting brackets. Would be 5 stars if wiring was not so extensive and a little easier. Also wish pioneer would make their products a little more android friendly. Stop trying to cram apple down our throats. Mix trax seemed really cool...but only works with apple products. Blutooth and hands free phone works well with droid razr max hd.
All in all a good unit

5Exactly what I was looking for!
By Abhijit Pani
I spent a weekend to replace the factory HU on my 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L with this baby. I also installed an ASWC-1 for my steering wheel controls. I installed a wireless backup camera as well. End result is, it's been a fantastic experience for last few weeks.

Pros:
Sound quality is far better than the factory HU even with the factory speakers.
Pandora integration works well.
The bluetooth works flawlessly. It connects to my iphone and starts playing music from where it stopped last time. Making and receiving phone calls is fun (I mounted the mic on the rear view mirror).
It plays DVDs flawlessly and the DVD menu is touch-enabled.

Cons:
Lost active noise cancellation feature from factory HU. (Not a big deal though, I don't feel a difference in road noise level)
You will need an amp to power the factory subwoofer.
Need to spend another $100 on additional cables for AppRadio support.

This unit does NOT come with HD Radio & XM Satellite. I am more a pandora lover so it does not matter to me.

5Does what it is supposed to
By Kyle
I do not normally write reviews, but this might help someone. I am a graduate student and a bit of an audiophile. My father has always had a very nice and expensive integrated stereo system and I tend to have a critical ear given that I am a more classically trained musician playing in the world’s longest continually touring ensemble. I love to listen to almost any type of music so this review is not particular to any one type (sorry).

Being a student, I do not have a lot of money to invest in stereo equipment. Recently many of my had-me-down electronic units have come to the end of their lives, i.e. within weeks of each other my TV and stereo died. The new TV I purchased emitted a high pitched tone that gave me a headache after 30 minutes of video games or just watching an episode of something. I bought this unit so that I do not have to listen to the small TV tweeters. This unit does the job very well for the price and size of it. I can play or watch TV without pain and I can turn the volume up while walking around the house and still hear it without it being obnoxious. It is compact so it does not take up much room in my small living quarters.

If you are looking for something to blow your mind playing Shostakovich, Eric Church or anything really, then you should not be looking at small units like this in the first place. I can see this being perfect for college dorms, smaller rooms, bed rooms, offices or anywhere you just need a little music in your life without going overboard.

For anyone interested, I could not find much in the way of specification on this unit. There are two line-in ports for the left and right speaker to plug into, there are not additional power cables. There is an additional stereo line in to plug you iPod, TV or whatever else to play your music (looks like a normal headphone jack). The speaker cables are only about 29 inches long stretching them out so if you plan on placing them further apart you are going to have to buy additional audio lines. There is an alarm setting, which I found nice, CD player, nothing special, display dimmer, and AM/FM tuner. The power cord has two prong AC end (just in case you live in certain dormitories).

This is a decent unit that is not terrible to listen to and is worth the 40$. I think it would work nicely in college or small use. Some people seem quick to judge small units (maybe not this one, but other) because they do not rattle the rafters.

I hope this helped someone!

5Very nice small CD/Radio Player
By Teresa
I bought this unit for a fairly small opening in an entertainment center. I thought that a boombox would look tacky, and this unit had the look that I wanted. I was replacing a much more expensive, 6 CD unit, I believe it was a Sony, that, after a year or so, refused to open, and I had to pry my CD's out. I didn't want to spend too much, just in case a newer player would malfunction in the same way. First off, I was amazed how quickly this CD player/radio arrived. It was very easy to assemble, just plug in the speakers. It fits perfectly in the space I had for it. After reading some negative reviews here about the sound quality, I am pleasantly surprised that my CD's sound as good as they did on the larger, more expensive unit, which had much bigger speakers. It only holds one CD, but it isn't that big a hardship to get up and change discs. I would recommend this player for anyone who wants a smaller, attractive CD/radio. Oh yes, I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the AM/FM radio is excellent, and picks up the stations I want to listen to.

Very small but still has a great sound even at its highest volume level. Seems to be a durable product. I love the alarm clock feature. You can set it to come on as radio or the "buzzer" sound.

5Awesome

Bought two sets of these before a big family road trip, dont think we would have made it without them. Kids all loved them and the video play is awesome. Id suggest buying headphones to go with them and maybe some sort of extension for the power cords because they are a tad short.

3Good but not great...
By Asha Conley
Bought this for use in our minivan to keep the kids entertained. Pros: The screen resolution is good, clear picture, volume is loud enough. I like that when you turn the car off, the DVD picks up from where it left off when you come back. Cons: straps that hold the screen to the headrest are not very secure (I have a Honda Odyssey minivan), the buttons are hard to reach when the player is on the headrest such that you have to fiddle with the player just to reach the buttons or unstap it. The remote has no volume button, it does not have a rechargeable battery. The deal breaker for us was how the two screens have to be connected by a cable which hangs awkwardly between the two players such that the kids have to go under them or around them to get in and out of the van. In fact between the connection cables and the cable going into the car adaptor, that was too many cables! I sent then back.

3Very good, but has some issues
By Mark Asch
I purchased this projector in Oct 2011 directly from Aaxa. I am a teacher working in two schools and I use this projector nearly every day. I connect my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 to it and also play video files from the internal drive or a flash drive, mostly successfully. The specs are the best in this category at the moment, and the design is good. There are a few details that other reviewers have not mentioned, however:

* The fan noise is more than noticeable. It's actually a little annoying.
* The power button is situated such that the P4 can be switched on in a crowded bag pretty easily.
* The buttons are not very responsive. My feeling is that this is more of a system software issue than a purely hardware issue. Button clicks frequently get no response or a delayed response. I feel like the system software is not quite ready for prime-time.
* While it's impressive that they included any sort of internal speaker, it's only usable in a very quiet environment and then really only for speech. There's really no point at all to listening to any sort of music track with it. If you plan on using headphones, then you're fine, but if you need to run a cable to a pair of external speakers then you're losing the cable-free benefit of a battery-powered device. If you don't mind plugging it in for power then you might as well get a brighter pico projector.
* The P4 does NOT mount properly on any external computer, and I've tried several Mac and Windows machines. The manual says very clearly that it should be able to do this. When connected via USB, it might mount for just a moment, but then it will immediately unmount or produce some kind of error message. I've had absolutely no success transferring files directly from a computer to the P4. When I contacted their support staff about this, I was told that I should put my files on a flash drive, and then move them from the flash drive to the P4. This is very disappointing and inconvenient. (Are other users having this problem? I'd like to know.)
* Transferring files from a flash drive involves going into Windows CE, which requires the additional purchase of the little USB keyboard. The keyboard is pretty cool, but it's somewhat expensive, and because it's so small, it's awkward to use.
* When copying files, I've frequently had weird anomalies where the P4 seems to think there are two copies of the file, with slightly different directory paths, and it gives me error messages that it is unable to find the second file. Irritating!
* Video playback always starts with the first video in your directory, requiring you to stop playback, go back to your directory listing, and select the file you want.
* Although the internal flash drive is 2 gigs, the operating system takes up a great deal of that, so there isn't more than a couple hundred megs onboard, and that's not much room for decent-quality video. I have not tried using an SD card.
* The color reproduction, even on a flawless white wall in a dark room, is mediocre at best. There are a few settings to adjust the color, most of which are totally unusable. My expectations were not that high, but I wouldn't want yours to be, either.
* The P4 doesn't sync as readily via VGA as you'd expect. If your cable gets jerked out, you can't just plug it back in. You'll probably have to manually re-sync it or possibly restart the P4.
* The battery does not last more than 70 minutes.

None of these issues are substantial enough for me to return the unit or recommend against buying it, but they might matter to you, depending on your planned use. The basic utility of the P4 is massive, although the shortcomings are constantly annoying. I look forward to future units from Aaxa, where we'll hopefully get 120+ lumens (laser driven?) from a longer-lasting battery, better and more adjustable color, and perhaps some kind of wireless a/v streaming. But for now, this is a very handy and useful device.

5Great little projector

I did a lot of research on Pico and Pocket projectors before deciding on this one. At the time of this writing (March 2012) I think its the best Pico projector out there in the $300-ish range. It has a few quirks, but all the projectors I read about did, and I felt these were the most manageable. The main issues that people seemed to have were the inadequate speaker and the fan noise. I already owned an X-mini II speaker, and it makes a perfect companion to the P4. The Xmini is also super small, and packs a LOT of sound in to it's tiny package. Also, the Xmini internal battery lasts 14-hours. I've never used the P4 without it. So the P4's speaker isn't an issue. And the fan is a bit noisy, but it's easy to tune out. If you listen for it, you'll hear it, but I don't really notice it.

I'm not a huge fan of the operating system on it. For instance, if you use the USB stick and have 100 files in 10 folders, the menu just shows those 100 files. I like systems which keep my files in folders for easy navigation - really handy if you're plugging in a 500GB external drive with several thousand files. Large drives are no problem for the P4, but sifting through thousands of files is more time consuming that clicking through 3 levels of folders.

Also, the on-screen display only seems to go away after you've hit the play button. If you hit the FF or RW button the display will stay on the screen, then you'll need to hit pause and play so the display will disappear. Perhaps there's a fix for this, I didn't call tech support because it doesn't bother me too much. Also, the FF and RW only goes forward in 7 minute increments, making it impractical to rewind to hear a line in a movie you couldn't understand. Also, the display doesn't read the time quite right. For a 2:14:00 movie, it lists the time as 2:134:00.

But I still give this unit 5 stars. Why? Because it's awesome at what it should be. A light and powerful projector that can be thrown in a backpack. I can hook up any other source (like my portable video drive with RCA-outs which behaves just like I like it to) and have a great little theatre. None of my previous projectors could play files, so the fact that this one does with some minor quirks, is like a bonus.

One thing I noticed when looking at Pico/Pocket/Portable projectors is that most don't list the size/weight of the plug-in adapter in the description, unless you really search for it - and with many of the pocket projectors you get an adapter about the size of a laptop adapter, which to me makes it much less portable. With the P4 and some other Picos, the adapter is more the size of a cell phone adapter, which was the big draw for me.

5Great pico projector
By Ahmad
The P4, after research was the pico projector I decided to go with. It is surprisingly bright for its small size. The images are crisp and clear. I mainly use it to project movies from my laptop but it comes with Windows CE so if you're one to do presentations, with a USB mouse you can use the built in software to access word/powerpoint/excel. I have used an apple vga adapter to mirror my iphone 4S as well and it works brilliantly. I would definitely recommend this projector if you are in the market for a small, portable projector.

5Good little basic machine that sets up in a snap
By PT Cruiser
I purchased this Samsung DVD player to replace a Sony DVP-SR200P/B DVD Player that only lasted about a year and a half without heavy use. I'm hoping that I will have better luck with this one. So far it is working perfectly and it was super easy to connect to an old TrueTech 19 inch TV/monitor used to watch DVD' s. The remote is smallish but I think it fits well with this player. It measures just under 5 inches long by just over 1 1/2 inches wide. It's a basic remote but then it's a basic machine. It handles anything it needs to do. The buttons are very responsive to the touch.

First impressions are that movies load and start playing faster than with the Sony. Setup is just a matter of connecting the included A/V cables to the back of the unit which was clearly marked and to your TV or monitor. Then just pop 2 AAA batteries (not included) into the remote and you're ready to go, simple as that. The compact size of the player (8.2 x 11.8 x 1.7 inches) makes it easy to tuck into small spaces. It has a USB slot in the front where it's easy to access. It plays MPEG-2/4, WMV, and JPEG video formats formats and MP3, Dolby Digital, and DTS Surround audio. It only weighs about 2 1/2 pounds so it's easy to carry or move around. All in all this seems like a good little player that will do everything I need it to do and at a reasonable price.

Update 1/22/14 - This DVD player has been working just fine with daily use. No problems at all.

4Excellent little DVD Player!
By Sandy Zaro
The Samsung DVD-E360 Player is just perfect for our needs.

It set up with our Samsung TV in seconds-NO EXTRA CABLES NEEDED- and is very easy to operate.

THE DVD PLAYER DOES NOT HAVE AN HDMI CABLE CONNECTION SLOT-Amazon should not have combined this player with the HDMI cable.

The player is for our 2nd TV that does not have Netflix - (no fancy DVD player for us-our other TV is "Smart")

The only drawback is the very small remote - but otherwise it's Great.

5Solid Long Lasting and Great Sound
By Zombie4Life
I've had my for almost 2 years and it still sounds great. I don't have a problem shutting it off, you just hold down a button to do it. If you do add video files the screen is crystal clear. However, the screen is tiny and does tend to get scratched easily. However, who buys a mp3 player to watch videos? If you aren't a snobby apple product owner and actually just want to listen to music this player is great. I bought two as presents and will continue using mine until breaks which I doubt will be anytime soon. The sound quality is great with a comprehensive EQ manager that can give you whatever sound you like the most. The automatic mood radio feature is great so if you wanna only listen to certain tempo, mood, style or whatever you want to call it you can fairly easily. The battery life is great and it hooks up easily to my car mp3 player port so I can listen in my car as well. There are better mp3 players out there I'm sure, but if you want a no nonsense bare bones mp3 player that plays mp3s that is more affordable than it's bigger name competition than this is one for you.

5Excellent audio quality and physical construction
By H. Navarro
SONY Walkman NWZ-E384 / 8GB (Made in China)
Rear Pinhole Reset System Button

Actual Drive ~ 7.18GB; as we all may know Electronics functions are based on mathematical precision so rounding the memory drive capacity to 8GB is misleading and as well a grade school math absurdity.

Access PDF GUIDE at: [...]

Must power charge via the computer USB/ alternatively can select a "Compatible" AC/DC wall power charger.
*Battery quality and life is exceptional; I have many MP3 players containing a diversity of music genres; so I often do not use various players for days or weeks at a time. In the case of the Sony NWZ-E384 the Power Bars have indicated “No” idle battery drain or loss! This player is a new device nonetheless the battery is obviously made of top notch quality material.

*The Screen is 1 and 3/8 of an inch high ~ 1 and 1/8 inch wide & 1 and 3/4 inch diagonal
*Cabinet is 3- 1/2 inch tall ~ 1- 3/4 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick
*Weigt is ~ 1.9 oz
*Functional with Windows XP SP3 / Vista/ Windows 7 and 8
*Specifications indicate Device is also functional with “Mac OS X v.10.6” or later
*Alphabetical Album/ Artist search (easy to use)
*Date and Time (during music play the screen goes dark and the T/D flash displays)
*FM Radio (never listened because I’ve no use for it)

Easy to learn and use Radial - up- down- left - right directional click control. Within the radial clicker is a main select Play/ Pause duel function control. At the left of the radial clicker is the OPTION” /PWR/ HOLD triple function control and to the left is the “Back” and "Home" duel function control.

MINOR ANNOYANCE: When Powering up the player a “HOLD” screen displays which indicates you must press and hold the OPTION button for a second time to access the MP3 Library (Why? makes no sense to me it’s just one of those stupid things I often experience in manufacturing designs); To turn the player “OFF” we must first place the MP3 on Pause then press and hold the OPTION button.

*POSITIVE: So far the Audio 3.5mm plug in component appears to be of very good strong manufacturing design quality.

In my opinion the “3.5mm audio jack” is the weakest mechanical part of many MP3 players. In the decade plus years of personal experiences Audio Jacks have always been the main MP3 component to easily malfunction. It is obviously due to poor component quality and/or poor circuit board solder(ing) techniques and installation control.

After repeated removals and insertions of earphones or whatever we plug in, even accidental drops and falls we sometimes lose the left or right Audio capability and in some instances all sound. In such cases better to just simply use the player as a Photo Library Dispaly or USB Data Flash Drive as opposed to getting it repaired because we all know it’s always cheaper to buy another MP3 device model or brand.

Anyway as indicated, I’ve yet to experience poor craftsmanship here as the NWZ-E384 ~ 3.5mm Audio Jack seems to be of excellent solid state electronic component and solder quality.

Nonetheless that doesn’t mean we can abuse the Jack by forcing, shoving and yanking audio plugs ~ in and out, willy- nilly. Eventually carelessness will destroy the device. Therefore gentle insertion and removal is always more sensible as it will extend the life of any audio jack.

*I listen to very loud open air MP3 music when I exercise in the freedom of my home.

I connect the player to my quality home stereo using a 3.5mm to RCA Audio Plug in cable. The sound reproduction is excellent. This SONY device model is a sensational audio power house! It has various player music modes and even an equalizer but my personal favorite is the “Rock” listening mode simply because it provides the best quality sound for the array of music I listen too on this device; both Modern and Classic ~ Heavy Metal/ Pop Rock/ Country/ Pop Culture it all sounds great! I’m not really disappointed in the 7.18GB memory drive limits because my particular music library fits perfectly with 1.2 GB of free memory leftover. In addition I’ve no need or desire to expand my SONY player library so . . . it’s all good.

Over the last decade I’ve owned and experienced various MP3 music players. Many have failed to withstand time, wear, accident falls and drops. Recently as of this writing the Sony NWZ-E384 so far has only fallen “twice” from desk height onto a hard wood floor. Unfortunately that’s all it sometimes takes to dislodge/ weaken internal/ external components, and/ or cause cracks. Surprisingly the Sony NWZ-E384 remained undamaged; the outside is unscathed and still providing great music sound quality reproduction.

This SONY media player I believe was manufactured to last, it is clearly constructed to withstand a reasonable number of minor accidental falls or drops. With a little conscious effort I hope to prevent it from crash landing again (so I hope).

In any case I use various MP3 music players to listen to a large diversity of genres. And as far as the various music types I sync record to my Sony Walkman NWZ-E384 the audio capabilities is one of the best I’ve had the pleasure to experience free air or with earphones on.

4Very compact, reasonable price, some limitations
By YeahSoMaybe?
Just got this today from a big box store in Portland. I've only been using it for 4 hours. I * was * going to buy from Amazon but for some reason the projected delivery time was 3 weeks from now, that was too long for my purposes. I didn't want to go Apple. I wanted at least 16 GB. This is 14.1 GB formatted which is not surprising.

PROs: It's teeny tiny. It may be smaller than some Apple Ipod Nanos.
Minimal controls but the menus seem to be well thought out.
You attach it and "it's just a drive" - no iTunes crapola to deal with. I drag and drop MP3 folders with band /album titles and pre-named/numbered MP3 file and I'm good to go. (I have Microsoft Windows 7 Pro computer operating system).
I get good sound with my Sony MDR-300 headphones (cost $22.50 , 24 ohms impedance 1 kHzSensitivity (db) : 102 dB/mW
Is capable of putting out more volume that I can stand.

CONs: File copy is fairly slow. But once you do inital setup and copy, that's not so bad.
While is will drive my larger 63ohm Sony studio "cans" headphones - it does not produce a good sound with them. Bass on the larger headphones is weak / unsatisfying. So I'm not using those headphones with this - was hoping to do so for plane flight travel.
The EQ is fairly limited 5 band. Doesn't have a lot of precision or major change effect. Yes it does "something", it's just kind of minimal.
The instructions for how to actually , fully shut this MP3 player down (powered off) are a bit cryptic. They say it goes into "standby". It may be that it never shuts off in the normal pull the plug NO Power sense. It's do able, you put it on pause and then hold down Option button for awhile. I guess a better way of saying this is the manual is minimal.

Other info: Charges by USB to mini-USB male connector. 2 hours for full charge. Built in, non-user replaceable battery.

Overall you get a compact system.

I'll report back later on how long a charge lasts and durability.

NOTE: You can supposedly play back pictures and movies with this. It does display the MP3 album graphics fairly clearly. I didn't buy it for video/still display, can't speak to that.

I have put many albums of MP3s on here and still have 4GB of space remaining.

If you can swing it, buy at least a device with at least 16GB pre-formatted storage. That gives you enough to cover a lot of moods/ genres of music without being forced to delete this to make room for that.

Currently listening to Moody Blues "In Search of the Lost Chord" - it sounds good / satisfying.

I give this a solid 4 stars at this time of initial impression.
