Maxed out Performance Value, Still Needs Some Polish.

Purchased this at $769. For the price I paid and the performance of this projector, I am getting more than the requisite 80% performance while having paid less than the 20% fare. But this projector is not without its faults. Thankfully, aside from a loss of brightness in 3D, a problem inherent in all of today's 3D display devices, none of these faults are related to image quality. So here they are first, the Cons..........

Cons:
1. Aside from a zoom lens, no placement flexibility. Additionally, vertical offset adds a dimension of difficulty with setup.
2. No 12 volt trigger.
3. Hourglass meter shown when streams are being switched during blu ray playback. Input identification also is shown.
4. Remote presses are unresponsive and/or IR receiver has a very narrow reception angle requiring user to be precise when using remote.
5. Light spillage from front grill. Thankfully, this does not manifest on the screen.
6. Menu screens not completely elegant in navigation setup. Some selections exist on a second page when they could have been included on a single page. This makes going back to change a setting like retreading back through a maze.
7. Only one user setting. Although, it does appear that 2D and 3D settings are stored separately.
8. Contrast boosted during 3D playback causing washed out image.
9. Lens cap not included.

Pros:
1. Awesome image processing post calibration.
A. Silky smooth. No image tearing during camera pans.
B. Very good blacks.
C. Very good shadow detail.
D. Very good colors.
E. Reduced mosquito noise effect for a DLP.
2. Should street for less than $800 soon.
3. Less than $200 bulb replacement.
4. Very organic 3D performance. No artificial pop-out book effect. Even with films transformed into 3D like Beauty and the Beast.
5. No cross-talk in 3D.
5. DLP Link and RF glasses sync at 144hz.
6. About as loud as a long exhale of breath.
7. Onboard audio is better than most LED TV's (not that any projector user will ever use this long term).
8. Comes in black!
9. Every inch of performance, operation costs, enjoyment are absolutely maxed out at this price (under $800).

There may be some projectors that are going to be a hair less in price than the HD131Xe, but other drawbacks with those projectors will put them below the HD131Xe in value. When splitting hairs with cost, a bulb replacement of under $200 should not be discounted when price is a consideration. The cost of bulb replacement of other projectors is going to run $350-$500. Some projectors may be brighter, but at the cost of being louder. And there is no projector at under $800 that can match its black level performance. The only way to gain on the performance of this projector is to pay more. And the only reason I am hesitant to give it a perfect 5-star rating has more to do with Optoma's laziness than the limitations of the actual projector. Optoma has its roots in the business class projector arena. That these business class vestiges are still around really is why this projector isn't perfect in its class. Take for instance offset. With 4 people huddled around a projector with an image being projected high up on a wall, offset proves valuable in say circa 2004. But in today's world where virtual meeting software allows everyone to view the presentation on their own private laptop screen or without even being in the same room, offset is not needed. The idea that a projector serves the dual purpose of being a business projector that can be used for entertainment doesn't exist anymore. Projectors are either Home Theater projectors or large venue projectors for business use. Optoma needs to get rid of this silly offset. They are really shutting out the basement theater room and low ceiling folks from buying their products. Give some lens offset to widen the potential market and flexibility for users. Most viewing devices today get thrown all sort of media at them: video games, blu rays, TV, sports, internet rips, etc. None of these media sources are equal. So it really is cripling to users for Optoma to have only included one single user setting. And that this is the case is an indictment towards Optoma's laziness. Optoma, realize that the landscape for business projectors has long since eroded. Projectors are no longer going to be fed just Microsoft Windows from a laptop. Using the same resources already at Optoma, programmers could very easily give users at least just one more user setting for different media types we are throwing at it. Prolonged refusal to do this is just plain laziness. In a home theater environment, where the user is attempting to duplicate the moving going experience at home, we don't need to be reminded that our efforts are artificial by having a ticking hourglass displayed with streams are being swtiched during blu ray playback. Improve those HDMI handshakes and get rid of these nag screens. These things that I mention as cons are really the polish that is needed to lift Optoma projectors from the respected and reputable, and into the reverent elite and beloved.

Excellent Budget 1080p Projector with 144Hz DLPLink or RF3D Support

Extremely happy with my purchase. I highly recommend buying this projector if Bang/Buck, Quietness, and 1080p/3D are your most important factors in selecting a projector. Completely blows away by 720P LED 500 Lumen Projector I was using previously. I'm not qualified to do professional Lumen measurements, or direct comparisons between similarly priced 1080p projectors, but take a look at some of the points I've highlighted. Pros:
+ Noise: Nearly Silent in ECO Mode. My seating position is directly under the projector and I do not hear it over my HTPC/PS3 located in the corner of the same room. Bright Mode is slightly audible, but does not emit a high pitched fan noise. I cannot stress this point enough. My central air is much louder than this...If the projector wasn't throwing a giant image on my screen, I wouldn't know that its on. Its that quiet to me!
+ Price : I got this on Preorder for $ 7 6 9 . It seems to be in price flux with supply/demand. If you see this for above $9, just buy the HD25e (similar specs, brighter, more contrast, white color). Excellent value and Bang/Buck. It will be great if the price settles down to under $800 again.
+ Black Levels and Colors were very good right outside of the Box. Several Color Presets available as well as Fine Tuning of Color Temperature (Warm/Cool), Color Space (RGB Full 0-255 or RGB Limited 16-235 or YUV), and Hue/Saturation/Gain Levels for Red/Green/Cyan/Magenta/Blue/Yellow. RGB Adjustment on White. If you want to fine tune and professionally calibrate, you should be able to. This is a budget projector, but Shadow Details were pretty good. On projectors with horrible black levels, even the empty black side borders (like a 2.35:1 aspect ratio movie on a 16:9 screen) will be a washed out black or light grey.
+ Input Lag : This projector is very responsive. I play 3D Fighting Games which require 1-Frame Links (Button Presses with 1/60th of a second timing) to execute combos. I did not have any problems playing demanding video games on this projector. It should not hinder your gameplay. I have most post processing features turned off (BrilliantColor, Dymaic Black, Noise Reduction, Edge Masking, Zoom).
+ RF 3D: I paired this up with the Optoma RF 3D Glasses and 3D Emitter. Watched Avengers in 3D without any problems. Very impressive, did not notice any dropouts or abnormalities even when viewing from the opposite side of the room.
+ Lamp Replacement is affordable: A quick google of the 190W BL-FU190E shows $179 replacement cost. The Lamp is rated at 6000 Hours in Eco Mode, or 3500 in Bright Mode. 6000 Hours is about 4 years using the projector for 4 hours a day

Cons:
- Remote Control Backlighting: Extremely bright blue blacklighting. Borderline offensive
- Flimsy Plastic Zoom and Focus: Does not feel sturdy at all. Very loose. I havn't noticed focus or zoom drifting though
- Did not come with Lens Dust Cap (although manual refers to it)
- Placement requires more pre-planning due to no Horizontal/Vertical Lens Shift

Other Comments (neither pro or con)
1. 2D/3D Color Settings are maintained separately. Meaning you have to be in a 3D Mode (SBS, T&B, Seq) to alter your 3D color settings. It definitely saves different settings in 2D/3D modes

2. If 3D is a top priority, you may still want to get a brighter projector like the HD25e or HD25-LV. Brightness takes a big hit when you put on 3D Glasses (I used Optoma RF ones). I'd recommend putting the projector in Bright Mode or having a very well light controlled room for Eco Mode 3D.

3. Power Consumption Read from a Kill-a-Watt Meter:
STANDBY: 0W
ECO-Mode: 200W
BRIGHT-Mode: 234W

4. Did not and will not test the speaker. I think its a useless feature for a home theater projector

Best Bang for your Buck

First off, I'll say that this is about the 4th review I've ever written, but I felt as if I NEEDED to write one as a thank you to optoma for the deal that this thing is. I have been looking to buy a new projector for over a year. I have had 4 projectors over the course of the last 10 years, so I'm not an expert, but I have a few projectors to compare to. My old projector was great, but I had a buyer lined up for it, and I just needed to find the right projector to replace it.

I debated on the HD33 when it came out, on the benq 1070 and then the optoma hd25 and 25lv. As you can see from the projectors I have been looking at, they all have about 3 things in common. They all have 3d, they all have around 2000 lumens, and they are all under 1500.00. When I saw the optoma hd131xe come out at under 800.00 that met all my criteria, I waited to see a few reviews before I pulled the trigger. I almost waited for CNET because I love and respect their reviews, but my anticipation got the better of me. Boy am I glad it did!!!!! For the money, you WILL NOT find a better projector. Right out of the box this thing looks amazing. It's more than bright enough on eco mode (6000 hour rated), that I don't even see myself using bright unless it's in 3d. The blacks are good, NOT OUTSTANDING, but for the price really unbelievable. The picture is greeeeaaaat, even my wife complimented on it, and she could care less about my man cave.

Will this projector contend with higher end projectors ???? probably not. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles and it doesn't seem like their is a lot of adjustment options (I've only played with it for about a week and haven't felt like I needed to adjust it much). Make sure you do a little research on that, if that's important for you! Lens shift would have been nice, and limits where you can mount it. That is my only REAL complaint, but again you aren't touching that feature at this price, so I live with a little bit of an offset throw. One of the reviewers was right about the mount holes being small and awkward. The universal mount that I also bought here on amazon didn't fit it, and I really had to make shift a solution. The holes are really close together and I was only able to get 2 legs to mount. "The bottom line" is that the minor bads on this projector aren't BAD. Price taken into consideration this projector is A NO BRAINER! I don't foresee anyone being able to beat this feature set, for this kind of price for awhile. 3D, Native 1080p, 2500 lumens, AND 18000:1 contrast. Do yourself a favor and if you reading this review and debating BUY IT as it is the BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!

Sony continue to produce solid bluray players and this is no exception.

The BDP-S6200 lives at the top of Sony's North American bluray players range for 2014. This player is essentially a replacement to the well liked 2012 BDP-S790 Sony BDPS790 3D Blu-ray Player with Wi-Fi with a few features removed, but a few features added. More on that in a moment.

The player keeps the familiar XMB (Cross Media Bar) interface just like its previous players. Its functional but I can't help feel its days are numbered since Sony has done away with it on their TV range. You can choose to start the player in the Sony Entertainment Network portal if you wish ... but it really doesn't offer you anything different from starting the player normally within the XMB.

This top player gets a dual core processor (like the BDP-S790) so disks load fast and app navigation is zippy. A good test is to use the Youtube app that seems pretty CPU intensive. You can normally weed out under performers with that app .... but the BDP-S6200 handles YouTube very well.

App support is solid enough, with new a new Crackle app that supports Crackle favorites. There is a new Hulu app too, but that was released across last years players too. The player also sees the new Netflix interface which is very nice too.

The player also features a new Amazon App for 2014. It's certainly more visual than the older one but I think it's going to take a few software updates to get it tweaked just right.

The player also has the Opera TV store with a bunch of apps in that too ... so you should be well supported for apps. Note, often asked but there is no HBO Go app on this player.

The player itself, I think looks very stylish ... however if you are looking for more conservative styling, you may want to pick up a older BDP-S790. It doesn't seem as solid as the older BDP-S790 ... but it seems many mass market electronic manufacturers are heading in this direction as a whole, so I'm not really surprised here.

Please note though, that despite Amazon's or Sony product description, there is only 1 HDMI output on the player !!

Now, if you already own a 2013 x100 player from Sony, such as the BDP-5100 Sony BDP-S5100 3D Blu-ray Disc Player with Wi-Fi, what does this new player offer?

You will get the benefit of Super bit mapping (SBM) which improves color banding evident on internet video, improved DVD upscaling with additional levels of picture adjustment, IP Noise reduction pro for internet video, new audio enhancer, the new Netflix app, a new Crackle app and maybe a new Amazon app once it comes on line.

For 2012 owners that have the BDP-S790, upgrading to a BDP-S6200 they get the benefit of the new audio enhancer, the new netflix app (with 5800kbps support), a new Crackle app and maybe a new Amazon app. They also get improved codec support in MKVs with MPEG2 and VC-1 video codecs. If they have a 2013 or above Sony TV, and appropriate BD media, they can take advantage of extended color (Triluminos). They also get screen mirroring with Android phone and tablets.
They loose the extra HDMI output, Skype support and arguably less solid build.

Again the player does not include a HDMI cable so buyer be pre-warned. Also, as with new bluray players, there is no analog outputs on the player so you're TV must support HDMI. There is a digital coaxial output for receivers that dont support HDMI for audio.

If you do buy one of these and can't figure out how to get HD audio (DTS-MA or Dolby TrueHD) output from the player be sure to switch off BD-Audio mix AND the audio enhancer in the audio settings.

Overall, its another solid Bluray player from Sony with some marginal improvements over last years player ... but nothing earth shattering. Recommended.

A whole lot of player for not much money

Sony has really pulled out all of the stops here, producing a highly versatile media unit at a pretty affordable price.

The S6200 replaces the BDPS790 to become Sony's new flagship Blu-ray player.

The only lost feature is that the 790 came with dual HDMI ports to support people who have a 3D TV and an A/V receiver that does not support 3D passthrough. And the construction of the 790 was arguably a bit better.

Not only is the 6200 significantly cheaper than its predecessor, but it comes with some notable upgrades.

Let me go through the various capabilities of the unit.

1. Blu-ray: At this point there's really no measurable difference in picture and sound quality between players -- they all produce vibrant picture and sound. The main difference is load time, and the 6200 is very fast with its dual core processor.

2. Streaming: The 6200 supports a slew of streaming apps (HBO GO is the major exception, and at the time of writing this review, Amazon Instant is not yet ready). Sony's new Netflix app is quite impressive. Not only are load times extremely fast, but it takes about a second for the video video quality to get to the optimal level. There's virtually no lag with scrubbing. Finally, the new Netflix app supports Dolby Digital Plus.

Hopefully the new Amazon will prove to be as well designed.

3. Music: Audiophiles rejoice. New to the 6200 is support for multichannel FLAC and DSD (DFF and DSF) files. As far as I'm aware, only the significantly more expense OPPO BDP-103 and 105 can do the latter.

Sony continues to provide SACD support with DSD over HDMI.

Suggested audio settings:

DSD Output Mode: On
BD Audio MIX Setting: Off (has to be off to bitstream DTS-HD and DD-HD)
Digital Music Enhancer: Off
DTS Neo:6: Off
Audio DRC: Off
Downmix: Surround

I personally turn off all of the video enhancer settings -- the video on Blu-rays is authored with assumption that no such settings will be used.

Overall, it's quite impressive everything the 6200 will do, especially at its price point. In fact, anyone thinking of buying an Oppo should reconsider, especially if you plan on using an A/V receiver to process all of the sound.

UPDATE #1: Sony says the Amazon App will be available in early April.
UPDATE #2: I've now installed the Amazon App. As far as I can tell, the UI is the same as the one found in other recent devices, such as smart TVs. While it's certainly an improvement from the old Amazon App that the came with previous Sony Blu-ray players, navigation is sluggish (especially compared to the Netflix app), and the load time to get to optimal video quality is a solid 30 seconds to 1 minute. Further, my Roku circa 2009 has a superior UI and much faster load time. Given that the Sony has the processing power to load video very fast -- as displayed by the Netflix app -- I can't help but wonder if Amazon is purposely throttling speeds so to push people into buying their streaming device -- make it seem like the only way to get Amazon Prime videos to instantly load is with their box. Despite the disappointment with the Amazon app, the 6200 is still a solid video streaming unit, but depending on your needs (such as HBOGO), it doesn't quite match Roku.

Very Impressive on 4K TV

The most impressive 4K upscaling I've viewed after using this machine
a little over a month is the playback of LAWRENCE OF ARABIA on Blu
Ray with the Sony 55" 4K TV. I've downloaded a few films in 4K with the Sony 4K Media Player
and the BDPS6200 playback is in such instances comparable to the resolution the
Media Player offers. Concerning a previous Amazon posting on the player's
app for Amazon streaming, just today I received an email from Sony saying
the Amazon app on this machine now works. Of course the app was also
on my Sony TV at the time of installation and worked all along. The most impressive
3D I've viewed on this player is GRAVITY and the fake 3D in JURASSIC PARK. If only
Warner's/MGM would release KISS ME KATE in 3D I'd be super happy!

Bright HD Projector For Man Cave

Over the past 10 years, this is the third and best projector I have installed in my basement recreation room.
Previous projectors included an XGA LCD projector displaying on a 92" diameter, fixed frame, 16:9, zero gain screen. I did have black bars top and bottom that became annoying so I updated the projector to a DLP model with an anamorphic lens. The second projector was great - much better ANSI contrast and more realistic color display than the LCD model. Over seven years, brightness faded and I decided to buy a new projector instead of purchasing a replacement lamp for $450(!).

I was torn between the Optoma HD25 and HD25-LV knowing that with higher brightness color fidelity would suffer a bit. In my recreation room I often leave reading lights on in the seating area (away from the screen) and full lights on in the back room, so the higher brightness projector made sense. Also, if I ever decide to view 3D videos or play 3D games a brighter projector helps to offset brightness lost when wearing 3D shutter glasses.

I am totally thrilled with the purchase. Contrast, color and brightness are HUGE improvements compared to my last projector.

Pros
Bright, really bright image
Contrast is amazing
Colors are good
Set up was easy, compared to previous projector with anamorphic lens

Cons
With lights off - image is too bright, but there is a setting that allows brightness to be dimmed
Fan can be heard during quiet scenes, but not as noticeable as my last projector - I did not notice the buzzing noise mentioned by another reviewer
Set up would have been easier with vertical and horizontal lens shift - I know this would add great expense to the projector so I opted to save $$$

So far, so good. I highly recommend the HD25-LV.

3D on this projector has to be seen to be believed

I bought this projector strictly for 3D use as I am still content with my Mitsubishi HC3800 for 2D. After much research, where I seriously considered projectors such as the BenQ W7000, the BenQ W1070, and the Acer HD6510BD, I settled on this one because of the extra lumens. I'm glad I did! The quality of the 3D is superior to my (much-loved) Optoma HD66. I can say with confidence that the 3D experience with this projector exceeds the movie theater experience. I've loved 3D movies for almost five decades, currently have more than 80 3D Blu-rays, and I'm now tempted to watch every one of them again. I highly recommend the Optoma ZF2100 RF glasses for use with this projector, as the RF glasses never lose sync, even in very bright scenes, a problem I occasionally had with DLP-Link glasses. (I understand that the eStar ESG6000 glasses, which are less expensive than the Optoma glasses, are also highly regarded.) As mentioned elsewhere, be sure to purchase glasses that support 144hz.

I've watched six 3D movies from beginning to end thus far and I can only describe the 3D as flawless. Zero crosstalk, perfect sync, and the emitter even figures out the correct 3D polarity so I have not needed to "flip" the left-eye right-eye sequence (normally something that is only needed at the very beginning of viewing). I took a long time to figure out the best projector I could get for a reasonable price, and I could not be happier!

Upgraded from the HD33 optoma, to this one to get the brighter screen and better contrast.
Not much to really say if you already have an HD33. THe HD33 had a red tint when in 3d mode and the fan was on high, so a bit of noise going on.

The HD25-lv is relatively quiet when in 3d. The fan is bit noisier, not much to worry about, but compared to the HD33 which is nearly silent in normal mode. So a bit of a trade off.

Definately worth the money, however one problem, i had to purchase optoma's dlp-link glasses, the high end ones to work on it, my RF glasses which worked on the HD33 wouldn't work on this one.

sooo, a bit pricey until i can find some low end ones that will work.

Not a lot of info out there: don't hesitate...

There are not a lot of reviews, or really information, in general, on this television. I have owned it for two weeks now, and I would like to share my experiences. First off, I cut the TruMotion stuff: not interested in that 'soap opera look.' No further comment on it.

Color is a little off, but not too bad. Maybe me just being overly picky/critical. Delving into the 'advanced' menu quickly fixed it. Black levels on this TV are phenomenal. This is the closest to a plasma picture I have noted on a LED. The only thing is the image processing. Going from light to dark or vice versa will cause a 'jolt' in brightness as the screen attempts to catch up with the image. It freaked me out at first, but, since then, I have reduced the screen's overall brightness, and I have not seen another instance (not to say that is what fixed the 'problem').

I am not into 3D, but...I tried 2D to 3D conversion on 'The Dark Knight Rises'. I was impressed, very impressed. So much so, I went out and bought Jurassic Park 3D. Much better 3D than the TDKR conversion. It pops. No bad artifacts or anything, just pure dino-in-yo-face action. All that being said, I will probably never use the feature again.

SD up-conversion was very good. I was afraid my collection of DVDs would be choppy or pixelated, not the case. All content looks great on the television. (TV paired with a Panasonic BDT220)

If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them. I am no videophile, but I am peculiar about the picture.

In all, Sony has brought forth a great television with a lengthy list of features at a great price.

I purchased this from Best Buy for the same price (plus taxes), I was weary about buying an item of this size shipped to my house.

I am not very tech savy when it comes to Home AV. To put it into perspective, the last tv I bought was one of first LCD generations LG 32' (first XD system) for around $2300. Phenominal TV for the times, but it doesn't hold a candle to current tech.

Fast forward, I finally got the itch for a new tv because I was getting the AmazonTV to replace using the horribly slow online content with my Samsung Blueray. I knew this was a Smart TV, and I originally wanted my money to go more towards the picture quality than features....until I saw this TV!
Like the other reviewer, I was on the fence between this, Vizio M501d-A2R which was $200 cheaper, or a 60'' Sharp Aquos for $999 that was a clearance model 2013.
I still had skepticism about Vizio long term, and the Sharp was possibly going to be too big for my single-bedroom apartment, but the biggest factor was screen quality, which the Sony trumps all!
I considered LG and Samsung, but Samsung has left a bad taste in my mouth with the last two products I've owned from them, and their panel picture seems overly saturated, which is nice if that is what you like. LG has a more natural screen like Sony, but the models in the same specs just didn't measure up in picture quality not to mention if I wanted a LG with 4 HDMI, I would have had to spend a few hundred more to get it. The Sony is really that good!

I am still toying with the settings (there is a lot of them) and have no experience with the 3D since I do not have a 3D source, but my understanding is that the components used to make the 3D panel is better quality than the 2D panels which improves the 2D quality as well. The blacks are very black, but accurately differentiate shadows. I cannot comment about the hertz rating with the 120,240, 480Hz stuff, but there is more than enough custom settings there to get the exact performance you are aiming. I believe some sources stated that the 2013 version of the 800 series were a bit of a letdown, and that those same sources state that the 2014 (this model) is significantly better, and dialed to compete with other brand's high models that cost $100s more, and I honestly believe it looking different brands/models side-by-side.

Nearly every aspect of this TV is understated with the exception of the actual panel which pops with very vibrant and natural picture. The bezel is very thin so there is very little distraction. There is a small light that can be configured to your liking that will flash when there is remote activity or turned off. I turned it to low so that it isn't distracting while watching TV, but when it goes to screen saver mode (when my pandora times out after a few hours) I know the TV is still on.

The remote was a bit of a letdown cosmetically. Even my 2003 LG LCD had a much nicer remote, but I plan on investing into one of Logitech's universals to simplify things anyways. However, it is easy to understand and navigate with so in the function department, it's all good. Everything is done on the screen anyways. It has 4 HDMIs which I had a requirement of 3+, but in the end I couldn't get the Audio Return HDMI to function properly sending the audio signal to my AV Receiver so I ended up resorting back to running everything into the receiver and having one HDMI going to the TV. The Good thing is that even with the pass-through, the banner will still recognize the device automatically.

All-in-all, if picture quality trumpts all, and you want a 50" from a company that is a proven performer in the AV world. The biggest companies in the biz (Samsung, LG, Sony, Sharp, Vizio) all offer great product, and there are small differences between the brands. The only one that measured up spec-wise was the Vizio M501d-A2R which also had a really good picture and a $200 cheaper price tag, but the Sony wins out hands down with a bit better screen quality, less glare, and the peace of mind that it will most likely still be working 12yrs from now in a world of planned obsolescence and product engineering. I feel that Sony is a superior product in that respect and feels a little bit more "future proof" as future proof as a tech product can be these days.

Breathtaking

I have owned several modern tvs: Panasonic plasmas, Samsung LEDs, sharp LEDs. Nothing will compare to the color accuracy or deep blacks of a plasma, but this tv truly is breathtaking. I actually thought it was a 4k tv initially. There is so much pop that it is a joy to watch. The level of detail is phenomenal.

I prefer passive 3d to active tv, granted I did not buy this for the 3d or smart features. The remote is decent, not good or bad. I purchased this for $999, which is a steal IMO. I did try out the vizio m series and it left a lot to be desired. At this price point you will NOT find a better picture.

I updated my settings. I simply love this tv more and more each day. I typically am not a fan of the motion smooth settings, but I have found setting motionflow to clear provides such a clear sharp picture. It keeps sports judder free (hockey has a slight judder) and movies/shows look fantastic.

Excellent Picture quality - Buggy firmware = 3 stars pending????

Let me start by saying that I hate being an early adopter, but I did so because I needed a new TV. Having said that, I am returning it and going to try a replacement 7150.

Strengths of this TV are:

The panel that is on this TV is amazingly uniform. I cannot see any banding, clouding or DSE on a white image or in bright action scenes - Hockey for example. Did I mention there is no DSE or clouding on this panel. That is amazing to me.

Borrowed calibration settings made this TV really come to life. It renders color very well and life-like. On all sources, digital streaming, Blu-ray, live TV and digital TV. Great picture quality. It has good contrast and while "inky blacks" are not there - the blacks presented are very, very, good.

Smart features are good and the quad core processor flies through the settings and menus easily.

The Bad:

There is just a minute amount of blooming or haloing when highly contrasting objects appear onscreen together.

This unit was very susceptible to "judder" or cadence stuttering from air and DTV stations. I am very observant when it comes to motion stuttering on video. It drove me nuts, it was random and happened quite often on all channels and incoming signal resolutions. Sometimes my wife even noticed. When my wife asks "why is it doing that?" there is something wrong. I tried turning on and off all motion compensation settings - No Go! Off board Roku, Blu-ray sources were fine and solid - I never really use the judder or Blur settings - always off.

Finally - the smart-hub kept locking me out of app streaming from the TV apps (Netflix and amazon prime). Every 4 or 5 hours it would say that the streaming service was not available. I called Samsung support and the adviser remotely reset the smart-hub, and region settings. It worked for a while and then I had to reset all over again - 3 more times before I decided there was something wrong.

I don't know if this is just buggy initial firmware, or I maybe received a bad unit, but the picture quality on this thing is worth giving a replacement another try.

I started my hunt to replace my previous TV with a modern LED TV about a month ago. First I tried a 2013 Panasonic 58" TC-L58E60 - Terrible banding and DSE but great smart apps and fast wi-fi connectivity. I Then tried a 2014 LG 60LB6500 that exhibited a horrible pink color on the right and left side of panel - plus the calibrator said I should exchange because the panel seemed out of spec. Moved up to the direct LED LG 60LB7100 - same pink coloration on left side???? Its too bad, the viewing angles for those sets are really very good. I am now hoping the replacement 7150 will resolve the smart-hub issues. I'll update when I have the replacement.

Wow! Blows away the 7100

Everything I was disappointed about on the 2013 Samsung 75" 7100 seems to be improved on the 7150. It's thinner, is more vibrant picture, has no washout from angles, and has less glare on the screen in well lit rooms w/ windows, etc. Blacks are really black. Did I say it has a great picture? The only drawback in my book is HDMI 4 sticks directly out the back, so if you have an ultra slim wall mount, get an angled hdmi cord if you need to use this 4th input. PS....there is nothing better than 3D on a 75" tv. It Really pops.

1st Time LED TV buyer, overall--very satisfied.

I must preface this first with a somewhat embarrassing fact. In 2014 I still had a Sony Trinitron 36" CRT television that was heavily used daily. Finally came to grips with reality and figured that this television will outgrow my lifetime and will continue to operate long after I'm dead!? I did not want to burden my children with the logistics of moving/removing this behemoth of a TV!

Anyways, I thought I'd put my 2 cents on this Samsung LED TV after spending about 2 weeks with it. As I mentioned before, I've spent 12+ years with a CRT TV so as far as image quality is concerned, I'm completely biased. Any newer modern TV for me will look absolutely great, no matter what! Image quality on this set is sharp, bright, and nicely vivid. There are some oddities with moving images that seem to produce a slight stutter, about maybe every half second or less. Doesn't really bother me now, but I do notice it. It does not occur all the time, very intermittent.

I like this TV's styling too, very thin and nice modern stand.

Originally, I had so much trouble using the TV's smart features, I thought I had a defective unit and was very close to returning the product. The first few days using the Smart Hub features and apps was a very unpleasant experience to say the least. The TV's Smart Hub was extremely lagging and slow, simple operations like turning the volume up or down would take about 1 to 2 minutes to to respond--(not making this up). Certain apps failed to stream or load all together, Amazon, Netflix, Vudu, pretty much everything I attempted to use was or became almost unresponsive. Sometimes the TV would reboot on its own multiple times. I spent a few days trying to figure out if I had a lemon, or if it was a buggy 1st-2nd release of firmware. Luckily, I found a parameter that I disabled that made the TV smart features perform as intended. Disabling the "Instant On" feature on this TV really made a positive difference in the overall performance of basic and advance features. It probably adds another second or two powering up the TV, but no big deal. Smart Hub and apps still do occasional flake-out here and there, but doing this really improves things two-fold!

The smart remote was much better than I expected and functioned very well. The "Wii-like" pointing feature also works great, I like the fact that the pointer only shows up when you lay your thumb on the remote's touch pad. I found myself inadvertently confirming different areas of the screen because the pointer always resets to the middle of the screen, no biggie, something else to acclimate to. I use a Harmony Touch remote and it also works well in controlling the TV... No pointer obviously.

Overall, this TV's picture and smart features are excellent. Very satisfied!!

Just what I needed

I'm no audiophile, admittedly. But I'm super happy with this receiver. Easy setup, sounds great through my speakers. All functionality works properly. I like the extra bass option, and it has Dolby Digital Plus so my Roku can play Netlix movies in 5.1 sound. Your receiver must have Dolby Digital Plus or Roku only plays Netflix in stereo, not 5.1.

Great performance for a refurbished device

This is my second Yamaha receiver purchased in the past few years. The first was new and I am extremely happy with it in my home theater system in the living room. I've started with Yamaha and stuck with them. It began when my best friend showed me how well the audio sounded on his gaming PC back in 2000-2001.

I purchased this one (RX-V375 refurbished) to use in my new PC build in the office / man cave. No complaints at all. I am 100% satisfied.

WHAT A NAME, WHAT A CABLE, WOW

I am an electronics technician and also play acoustic electric guitar. I had searched and searched for a cable with a nice flexible cloth sheath like these have and had given up on there even being such a thing in the world. I was browsing Amazon and there was a little "side bar" ad for these and I clicked on it to read more. Sounded good so I ordered a couple for a 60" LCD I was mounting on the wall. I needed a little more than your average 6 footer and this company has 10 footers, just right to reach from the back panel of the TV to inside a home theatre cabinet below the TV. The cables also meet all the specs I was lookin for. They are nice and flexible, very durable, and from what I can tell are well built. They are not low cost "cents-on-the-dollar" cables nor are they high dollar "wonder where the gold is?" type cables that are WAY WAY over priced either. They are priced at what you would expect for really good quality cables at a real world price. Take it from a tech. These are really good cables and I believe will serve you well for a long time. NO, they didn't pay me to write this or give me free cables either.

This is a heavy duty cable, with a think outer shell to prevent noise from interrupting the signal. Picture is perfect with no lag between my ps3 and my Samsung TV. This is a must purchase if you need a great durable hdmi cable that can hold up to chewing by your cat or dog!!!

Too much for light duty situations

This cable is solidly built- a bit too solid IMO. It is thick and stiff making it awkward to use with lightweight things like Roku or Apple TV where this cable will make those small boxes shift. You can forget using this in any low profile situation and I also found the stiffness made it difficult to plug in- I guess because it is difficult to get the connector lined up because you are fighting the stiffness of the cable. Hard to explain but in the end it is bulky and awkward for use in my living room entertainment setup. I am sure there are situations that a more heavy duty cable is needed, if that is true for you, this is a good choice, but forget wall mount setups- even if the connector is on the side of the TV, the cable is so stiff that you can't fold it out of the way so it still sticks out the side of the TV.

Excellent cable for the price

Before I purchased this HDMI cable for my Roku XDS I shopped around first at nearby Walmart and Best Buy, and read some reviews for this product. I'm a retired electrical engineer and do not believe on going overboard, spending more than adequate to get a good result on audio and video component. There are cables in the market that are priced too high to get the money out of those people who are willing to pay the price. Those people always believed that if the price is high, the product must be very good. For digital signal transmission, this HDMI cable is more than adequate. My video and audio were not degraded, and I did not notice any lost of clarity either on video or audio signal.

A bit difficult to maneuver

I hooked this braided HDMI cable between my HDTV and my computer to stream video from the internet to my HDTV. The picture is clear and the sound quality is very good. I don't see any difference while using this cable from computer to HDTV than I do when watching TV directly from my satellite box. The only problem I have with this cable is that it is very thick due to the braiding, which makes it hard to turn. I need to plug it into one side of my HDTV, loop it around the back of the TV and bring it out on the other side where I place my computer out of tripping range. The thickness of the cable makes it hard to loop around and it's heavier than the other cables I have. This cable would probably be best for professional use where there might be heavy usage and plugging and unplugging of the cord. It will probably stand the test of time and constant movement easier than the regular smooth vinyl cables. But, for normal home use, the vinyl cables are easier to handle.

For anyone who has not used an HDMI cable and is new to HDTV, this cable can be used to hook up your cable box, DVD or Blu Ray disc player, computer, Wii, sound system and whatever else you have that has an HDMI cable connector. You do not need to use separate audio cables as this beauty steams everything through it. It's super simple to use - just plug it in to your HDTV and plug the other end into the other component and play. I suggest getting HDMI cables for each separate component so you don't have to pull out the DVD cable to plug in your computer.

HDMI 1.4/1.3x cable, get full support from Amazon

WHO NEEDS IT?

This wire should work well with anything that supports HDMI 1.3x but it's built to comply with the higher HDMI 1.4 standard. You may consider this product if you have TWO devices that support HDMI 1.4. For these, the cable will carry through HD images and Ethernet data therefore eliminating the need for one dedicated Ethernet cable and one Ethernet port. Again, on a pair of connected HDMI 1.4 devices, it will eliminate the need of a dedicated audio cable if, let's say, your TV needs to send sound back to your receiver - it may have a built-in Blu/DVD player or get its input through an USB port. You may also consider this cable if you currently need an extra HDMI 1.3 cable but you are planning to to replace your existing equipment with some HDMI 1.4 ready hardware in the near future.

As far as HDMI 1.4 stands, this cable is 'it'. It's the complete implementation because it supports ALL HDMI 1.4 features.

HOW GOOD IS IT?

- Behaves as a HDMI 1.3x 'high speed' or 'category 2' cable.
- As a 'high speed' HDMI 1.4 cable, it supports video resolutions of at least 1080p and can go as high as 4K.
- The 'data channel' (Ethernet support) works only with HDMI 1.4 ready equipment.
- The 'audio return channel' is another feature supported by HDMI 1.4 ready equipment only. It will allow for audio to be sent 'back' from, let's say a TV to the HDMI 1.4 compliant receiver, therefore eliminating the need for a dedicated audio cable.
- It should support all the HDMI 1.4 extra color palettes because those are implemented by the HDMI 1.4 compliant connected equipment.

You may want to get this cable even if your equipment is not HDMI 1.4, it doesn't hurt to get a wire that supports a higher standard and, with free shipping the price difference is not that great. And, keep in mind that Amazon stands behind this product so returns should be easy.

What follows is the byproduct of me attempting to clarify 'HDMI 1.4' for myself and understanding this specific product's features. I thought I'd share.

WHAT'S IN A NAME? (understanding this cable's features)

- HDMI 1.4 is a new HDMI standard adopted in 2009, backward compatible with HDMI 1.3. This cable should work with your existing equipment.
- HIGH SPEED indicates that this cable supports resolutions of 1080p or higher and 3D video (unlike the HDMI 1.4 STANDARD cables which, believe it or not, are limited to 720p/1080i - why? nobody knows).
- ETHERNET means that this cable supports a full-duplex 100 Mb/sec Ethernet connection - if you have 2 HDMI 1.4 ready devices and they both need an network connection, this cable will carry through the Ethernet datastream to the second device, therefore saving you the need for one extra Ethernet cable.
- Audio Return Channel is a feature that would save you the need of a dedicated audio cable between 2 HDMI 1.4 compliant devices.
- This cable should support the full set of 3D features found in the new TVs.

THE HDMI 1.4x DIFFERENCE

HDMI 1.4 allows for the following new features:

- Ethernet Channel - allows for the 2 connected devices to communicate with each other and share one network connection.
- Audio Return Channel - eliminates the need of a second cable if you want to send audio from your TV back to your receiver.
- 3D - It's supported by HDMI 1.3x but HDMI 1.4a specifically supports all the currently agreed-upon industry standards
- 4K resolution - good to have it but there is nothing on today's market that would take advantage of this
- Expanded support for new color spaces - by supporting sYCC601, AdobeRGB, and AdobeYCC601 it better aligns your display with the color spaces supported by digital cameras.
- Type D connector - the 'Micro' connector is to be used by small, portable devices with supported resolutions of up to 1080p.

The HDMI Consortium defines 4 broad types of HDMI 1.4 cables:

* Standard HDMI Cable
* High Speed HDMI Cable
* Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet
* High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet

Of the above, only the 'High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet' (this one) makes sense and it's likely to emerge as the common HDMI 1.4 cable.

Standard cables are limited to lower-resolution displays up to (approx. 720p or 1080i). High Speed cables support higher-resolution display (e.g. 1080p). They can deliver all video content currently defined for the HDMI standard (i.e. more than two 1080p/60 video streams, including 3D). HDMI cables with Ethernet are capable of sending 100/mbps over the HDMI Ethernet Channel. Since it is not likely that many HDMI 1.4 'standard' cables will be made or sold, I suspect that the crippled 'standard' type exists only to allow for calling the cables that support 1080p 'high speed' which sounds good and high-end.

Finally I can watch my movies in 3D

CR2025 Battery required under the details is WRONG I bought CR2025 batteries with this purchase so I could get the free shipping on orders over 35$ and come to find out these glasses come with 2 CR1620 batteries. I suggest someone fix this error in details. The exact battery reads: CR1620 3V

The glasses themselves work great they synced up to my T.V (un46fh6030) in like 2 seconds, come with 1 extra battery (2 total) and a microfiber cleaning cloth. The quality however of the plastic is kinda low and i'm kinda surprised they don't fold up like normal glasses which is odd to me. They come in 3 pieces and the sides snap into place.

Back of the box reads: 3D Active Glasses, For all 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 Samsung D, E, ES, F, FH, H, and HU series 3D TV.

Overall they're great glasses for the price and I'm really enjoying them already just don't expect the quality to be that of expensive 100$ glasses. Would I recommend them? Yes and if the two pair I bought get broken I will buy these again. If your not looking to spend a lot on glasses these will get the job done.

Universal 3D Glasses, work with Panasonic, Epson, Sony, Samsung and more. Here's How

These are the latest (2014) model of Samsung's entry-level active 3D glasses. They adhere to the universal RF 3D glasses standard are will work with Samsung 3D TVs (back to 2011) and also with recent active 3D TVs from Panasonic and Sony as well as Epson 3D-capable projectors. Since they adhere to the universal 3D glasses standard, they will work with many other brands and models as well. I've personally tested them with a Panasonic 2013 model year 3D TV (TC-P60VT60) and an Epson Home Cinema 2000 projector and they worked great with both. They are *not* compatible with any passive 3D TVs, such as those from LG, Vizio and some Panasonic 3D LED/LCD TVs, nor will they work with first generation active 3D sets that used IR (Infrared) 3D glasses. Check your TV or projector to make sure it adheres to the universal RF 3D glasses standard before buying these.

Per the packaging, they will work with any Samsung model that includes the following letter codes: D, E, ES, F, FH, H and HU series. So they'd worth with a UN55F8000 (F series, from 2013) but not a UN46C8000 (C series, from 2010).

As with last year's 3D glasses from Samsung (SSG-5100GB, now discontinued), these are great glasses for the money. They're not perfect, but they work well and are inexpensive. These glasses are very light, provide an acceptable field of view, and create a solid, stable full HD 3D image. As with last year's model, these ones do not fold, which means they take up a bit more shelf space than folding models, but this is a fairly minor gripe.

Samsung went with a smaller battery this year (CR1620 vs. last year's CR2025). I guess this makes the glasses slightly smaller/lighter but it also reduces the 3D viewing time from 150 hours to 70 hours. Still, 70 hours of 3D viewing is a very long time (30+ movies), and the SSG-5100GB comes with two batteries (one plus a spare) so it's not worth worrying about. I'd recommend ordering a few extra CR1620 batteries on Amazon and just keep them in a drawer.

In terms of getting these glasses up and running, it's pretty simple. First make sure your TV is powered up and you've got 3D content on the screen. The best bet is to use a Blu-ray 3D Disc in a Blu-ray 3D player and get to the disc menu. If you like to watch 3D content at home and don't own a Blu-ray 3D player then get one! But if you don't then you can also put your 3D-capable TV into a 3D-simulation mode. On Panasonic TVs, you should see a "3D" button on the remote. Hit this to go from 2D to 3D mode. On other compatible 3D displays, you should see a button or menu option to put the TV into 3D mode.

If your TV is in 3D mode and you are not wearing glasses, you should see doubled lines on the screen (it will look "fuzzy"). It's easiest to see this with text. Once you're in 3D mode on the TV, then do the following:

* Take the 3D glasses out of the box and attach the arms to the bridge. The underside of each arm is hollow so you can tell the top from the bottom easily and can figure out which side each one goes on.
* Open the battery compartment by turning the round panel on the inside center of the glasses (on the bridge) counterclockwise. Use a coin or the spare CR1620 battery in the slot to open the battery panel.
* Insert the battery into the recessed battery compartment with the "+" side visible and pointing toward you, reinsert and rotate the battery door clockwise to close it.
* Remove the protective films from the lenses by pulling up the red and blue tabs on each side of the lenses (these are only to protect the lenses during shipment).
* Push the little power/sync button on the top of the bridge of the glasses (it will turn green when it syncs).
* Put the glasses on your face and look at the TV screen.

If your glasses have paired properly with your TV, you should see depth to the image. The doubled lines will be gone replaced by three dimensional goodness. If you have a Panasonic 3D TV, you will probably not see any on-screen indication (no message or icon) that the pairing was successful. If you have an Epson projector, you will see a message on-screen to indicate successful pairing. If you have a Samsung TV, you will also see an on-screen indication that the pairing was successful. In any case, if your image now has 3D depth instead of doubled lines, then your pairing was successful and you are ready to watch.

Do this once for each pair of glasses, hand them out to your family and/or friends and press play! When the movie is finished. Hit the power/sync button one more time to turn the glasses off. The indicator light will turn red then go off.

Great glasses at a great price.

These glasses are fantastic! My Samsung 3D LED TV came with 4 pairs of these glasses and after being a bit skeptical about the viewing experience - I can say now that I absolutely love them! The are very comfortable and the viewing is superior whether it's 3D Blur rays or 3D On Demand. The first movie I put in for the kids had me sold. Crisp, clear pictures that jump out at you, just like in the theatre and without spending 50 bucks. I came back to order more so we had enough for company. Samsung does it right...superior, cutting edge, easy to use products that don't break the bank. Easy pairing and set up as well.

Benq 1080st review

I have been searching for a projector since last black Friday. Over the past year I have had many models reach the top of my list. I did extensive research on all products, 3d glass, cables ect.... The end result was my purchase of the Benq 1080st. I can honestly say it was one of the best purchases of my life. It will truely change the way you watch TV or movies. I use it everyday for TV viewing and 3D movies. I have it about 7 feet from the wall and it displays about 140 inches. Think about that for a second....140 inches of 1080p glory.

Set up:
Very easy (took maybe 10min, most was moving calbe wires and stuff).
Anyone semi familar with an HD TV should have no problems navigating the menu on the Benq. Changing the colors, brightness and contrast will seem familar. Setting the lamp to the power setting is too easy (econo is still bright enough to use for everything). Setting the zoom and adjusting the focus is easy and fun to play around with. As with most other reviews I would highly recommend an additional sound system of some type.

Picture Quality:
The TV I replaced was a 46inch Samsung. I can honestly say this has a better picture. It is bright, crisp and clear. If you have some form of Comcast (Xfinity) most show are displayed in 720p. That is no fault of the benq but the original broadcast signal. Still looks really good. Any 3d movie rental on comcast is displayed in 1080i. That looks very close to movie theater 3D. Bluray and Bluray 3D display at 1080p. When I saw the picture for the first time in 1080p 3d, I laughed in hysteria because I could not believe my eyes! It was amazing! The nice thing about the benq is that every time you either change a channel or switch inputs, on the top left of the display it show the input source and image (720p, 1080i or 1080p). That is how I discovered Comcast was broadcasting in 720p and quick call in confrimed this. However you watch or whatever you watch the picture is going to be bright. Adjust the colors alittle and you have a great looking movie theater in your house.

The Benq 1080st projector itself:
Very good quality. The unit feels very well built. It looks nice and sleek. The fan noise to me is almost non-existant. It not nearly as loud as an Xbox 360. It does have a fan to keep everything cool and I would say it is not even as loud as a computer. Really it is a non issue. All the correct inputs are there. I even had a conversation with my friend on how the Benq must have been made so there would be no issues. The people at Benq must really looked at every customer complaint before making the 1080st. It is very impressive.

3D quality:
Very good. At first in to be very honest I was not too impressed. Then I adjusted the brightness down and contrast up, changed the gamma level and adjusted the CMYK color levels up by 12 on each.....my jaw dropped (changing these setting is very easy to do). It has good depth and is very clear. I bought the rechargable 3D glasses and would highly recommend them. The screen does have a red hue when your glasses are not on and 3D is playing, agian a non-issue. It is simply amazing lifting the glasses up on your face and then putting them back down and seeing how the 3D works. Regular boradcast 3D in 720p is not bad at all and if you do plan on gettig a 3D bluray play you will be amazed. No reason to ever to the movies again. I found myself constantly talking through the movie on how great it looked and how it doesnt seem fair to have this in my house.

Overall this is worth every penny. Every single person that has been lucky enough (lol) to see this in my house thinks I spent at least 5k on this projector. Thats what you get from Benq: big picture small price. I have read hundreds of reviews before my purchase of the 1080st. All I have to say is read this review and then buy it. You will be very happy you did. Enjoy!!

My First, and I Love It

This is my first personal projector, otherwise I've only seen other people's and the ones I buy for work presentation setups. But I have to say, in my opinion it is absolutely fantastic, clear crisp picture that even manages to ignore nearly all the light pollution that comes from the door of my split level, the only exception is when the scene is super dark/black for obvious reason, if there is any real light to the scene, you really cant tell.

Like I said, the image is sharp a vivid, great brightness, everything just looks right, I pretty much feel like I have a 100in TV on my wall. Absolutely love the short throw, I have a moderately small man cave and on top of that I wanted to be able to do motion stuff with kinect, wii, etc. so I needed to be able to keep movements from getting in the way, mission accomplished, I can stand 4ft from my screen and not be in the way of the projection, giving me plenty of space to move around.

Other Notes:
+Runs very near silent, the only time I notice the fan is when there is nothing else to hear.
+Never used the built in speaker so can't comment but others make it sound like its decent, really though, if you're doing something like this, don't cheat yourself using built in speakers, get a real setup, even if its only like 2.1 or 3.1 or even just a sound bar(they make some pretty good ones these days).
+As others will tell you, adjustments are to account for angels etc are very limited so be careful and get it right.
+I don't feel I notice any of the classic projector visual oddities, I have a pretty nice fixed frame screen from Elite Screens. Check them out, good quality/price and they really aren't that hard to get put together. Manual isn't always 100% clear so be careful but its still pretty good.
+Haven't picked up glasses yet. Looking at some after I finish this review.

Bring movie theater at your home..

This is my first review on Amazon. Although, I keep buying many items from Amazon and I really liked few of them and were worth giving 5 star rating, none of the item impressed me so much to write a review. But I am so much impressed with this buy that I decided to write my 1st review.

I have already used Vivitek Qumi Q2 and IncrediSonic LED projectors. These are very small size portable projectors with long lasting LED lamp. Although these projectors project good quality image, they can not produce vivid colors. I use to feel like I am watching old days Eastman color movie.
LED technology in projector has still long way to get mature. For this reason, I decided to buy normal lamp projector even though such projectors are not very portable and requires costlier lamp replacements.

After about 2 months research I finalized buying either BENQ W1070 or W1080ST. Both projectors are same except throw distance. Finally I ordered W1080ST.
I got this projector on 23-Jan. It is manufactured in Nov-13 and has FirmWare ver. 1.04. It has backlit(red color) remote.

Here is my observation

1) Image quality is EXCELLENT with vivid colors and as good as what you see in movie theater. I am not using any screen and projecting image on bare wall.

2) Brightness is very good and I can watch movie with few lights on. But with all lights switched off, I feel like I am watching 120 inch LED TV.
Even in movie theater all lights are switched off for better viewing experience. So, do not set your expectations to unrealistic levels. LCD/LED TVs will always have better brightness than projector image.

I always use Smart Eco mode with brightness level 55 and than is more than enough.

3) Projector speaker produce loud enough sound and I am still using it while watching movies. But watching a 120 inch screen with inbuilt speaker is not a good idea and I plan to buy sound system to get a real movie theater feeling. If I connect projector to laptop using VGA cable then sound do not come from projector speaker(it will be from laptop speakers). If I use my chromecast then sound comes from projector speakers.

4) Projector keeps track of lamp hours used and you acn see it in menu.

Do not listen to professional reviewers who criticize this projector for light leakage, fan noise, rainbow effect. Earning bread and butter by criticizing every good product is their job.

5) My observation is that there is minute amount of light leakage but this projector produces image which is 1000 times brighter than leaked light and I won't notice leaked light even in dark scene.

6) Fan noise is very minimum. My laptop fan produces more fan noise than projector. Maybe projectors which are manufactured in Nov-13 might have lesser fan noise.

7) After watching 100 hrs of movies, I have not yet seen rainbow effect.

8) Remote works fine and it is not necessary to point remote at projector to operate it. Remote has "Light" button on right side and when I press this button entire remote gets illuminated with backlit red color light. Then I can see and press whatever button I want to use. This is nice feature till the time I get familiar with button locations.

I wish BENQ had provided USB port on this projector. They provided all kinds of input/slots but forget to provide a USB port. My Chromecast needs USB power and I have to keep laptop nearby to provide power to it. Projector has Mini USB B port and I need to check if I can power up Chromecast using mini USB B to USB female connector.

Finally, I am Very Happy with this purchase. The last time I was so happy when I was teenager and my father gifted me motor bike.
I already have recommended this projector to many of my colleagues.

Excellent Picture quality - Buggy firmware = 3 stars pending????

Let me start by saying that I hate being an early adopter, but I did so because I needed a new TV. Having said that, I am returning it and going to try a replacement 7150.

Strengths of this TV are:

The panel that is on this TV is amazingly uniform. I cannot see any banding, clouding or DSE on a white image or in bright action scenes - Hockey for example. Did I mention there is no DSE or clouding on this panel. That is amazing to me.

Borrowed calibration settings made this TV really come to life. It renders color very well and life-like. On all sources, digital streaming, Blu-ray, live TV and digital TV. Great picture quality. It has good contrast and while "inky blacks" are not there - the blacks presented are very, very, good.

Smart features are good and the quad core processor flies through the settings and menus easily.

The Bad:

There is just a minute amount of blooming or haloing when highly contrasting objects appear onscreen together.

This unit was very susceptible to "judder" or cadence stuttering from air and DTV stations. I am very observant when it comes to motion stuttering on video. It drove me nuts, it was random and happened quite often on all channels and incoming signal resolutions. Sometimes my wife even noticed. When my wife asks "why is it doing that?" there is something wrong. I tried turning on and off all motion compensation settings - No Go! Off board Roku, Blu-ray sources were fine and solid - I never really use the judder or Blur settings - always off.

Finally - the smart-hub kept locking me out of app streaming from the TV apps (Netflix and amazon prime). Every 4 or 5 hours it would say that the streaming service was not available. I called Samsung support and the adviser remotely reset the smart-hub, and region settings. It worked for a while and then I had to reset all over again - 3 more times before I decided there was something wrong.

I don't know if this is just buggy initial firmware, or I maybe received a bad unit, but the picture quality on this thing is worth giving a replacement another try.

I started my hunt to replace my previous TV with a modern LED TV about a month ago. First I tried a 2013 Panasonic 58" TC-L58E60 - Terrible banding and DSE but great smart apps and fast wi-fi connectivity. I Then tried a 2014 LG 60LB6500 that exhibited a horrible pink color on the right and left side of panel - plus the calibrator said I should exchange because the panel seemed out of spec. Moved up to the direct LED LG 60LB7100 - same pink coloration on left side???? Its too bad, the viewing angles for those sets are really very good. I am now hoping the replacement 7150 will resolve the smart-hub issues. I'll update when I have the replacement.

Wow! Blows away the 7100

Everything I was disappointed about on the 2013 Samsung 75" 7100 seems to be improved on the 7150. It's thinner, is more vibrant picture, has no washout from angles, and has less glare on the screen in well lit rooms w/ windows, etc. Blacks are really black. Did I say it has a great picture? The only drawback in my book is HDMI 4 sticks directly out the back, so if you have an ultra slim wall mount, get an angled hdmi cord if you need to use this 4th input. PS....there is nothing better than 3D on a 75" tv. It Really pops.

1st Time LED TV buyer, overall--very satisfied.

I must preface this first with a somewhat embarrassing fact. In 2014 I still had a Sony Trinitron 36" CRT television that was heavily used daily. Finally came to grips with reality and figured that this television will outgrow my lifetime and will continue to operate long after I'm dead!? I did not want to burden my children with the logistics of moving/removing this behemoth of a TV!

Anyways, I thought I'd put my 2 cents on this Samsung LED TV after spending about 2 weeks with it. As I mentioned before, I've spent 12+ years with a CRT TV so as far as image quality is concerned, I'm completely biased. Any newer modern TV for me will look absolutely great, no matter what! Image quality on this set is sharp, bright, and nicely vivid. There are some oddities with moving images that seem to produce a slight stutter, about maybe every half second or less. Doesn't really bother me now, but I do notice it. It does not occur all the time, very intermittent.

I like this TV's styling too, very thin and nice modern stand.

Originally, I had so much trouble using the TV's smart features, I thought I had a defective unit and was very close to returning the product. The first few days using the Smart Hub features and apps was a very unpleasant experience to say the least. The TV's Smart Hub was extremely lagging and slow, simple operations like turning the volume up or down would take about 1 to 2 minutes to to respond--(not making this up). Certain apps failed to stream or load all together, Amazon, Netflix, Vudu, pretty much everything I attempted to use was or became almost unresponsive. Sometimes the TV would reboot on its own multiple times. I spent a few days trying to figure out if I had a lemon, or if it was a buggy 1st-2nd release of firmware. Luckily, I found a parameter that I disabled that made the TV smart features perform as intended. Disabling the "Instant On" feature on this TV really made a positive difference in the overall performance of basic and advance features. It probably adds another second or two powering up the TV, but no big deal. Smart Hub and apps still do occasional flake-out here and there, but doing this really improves things two-fold!

The smart remote was much better than I expected and functioned very well. The "Wii-like" pointing feature also works great, I like the fact that the pointer only shows up when you lay your thumb on the remote's touch pad. I found myself inadvertently confirming different areas of the screen because the pointer always resets to the middle of the screen, no biggie, something else to acclimate to. I use a Harmony Touch remote and it also works well in controlling the TV... No pointer obviously.

Overall, this TV's picture and smart features are excellent. Very satisfied!!

Works as expected

My configuration and why I purchased this:

All of the televisions in our house have a single HDMI connection over 2x ethernet to an HDMI matrix switch in our basement, which is where all of our A/V components live. The matrix switch is controlled via an iPhone app, so we can easily change sources in each room. This setup works great, didn't break the bank, and is easy to use. We've since added a television in our master bedroom and unfortunately don't have 2x ethernet there. Running ethernet to our bedroom would require a lot of drywall repair which I wasn't excited about. When I saw the IOGear product at Best Buy Magnolia tonight, I purchased it. I expected it to fail, as most wireless products never live up to expectations. I can honestly say I'm not disappointed with it.

Installation experience:

First, I attempted to install the IOGear transmitter in our basement, directly connected to the HDMI matrix switch. (Read the instructions) After connecting the device and getting the transmitter and receiver to connect with one another, some of the components including the TiVo Premiere at 1080i worked flawlessly over this very long wireless connection (40ft through two floors). Other components including our Apple TV at 720p didn't work at all, frequently loosing signal. I can't really explain why these components behaved differently. It's odd that the components negotiating at higher resolutions performed better. That seems counter-intuitive.

Modification to original setup:

Due to the issues I experience above, I moved the IOGear transmitter to our family room which is on the first floor of our house and is closer to the master bedroom. All components stream flawlessly now, at near-hard wired quality.

Final thoughts:

I'm impressed with the IOGear unit. Wireless technology is so often disappointing. I can honestly say this product lives up to its claims. I will say, however, that the 100ft distance it has is presumably within line of sight. In my installation, I'm getting about 20 feet through a floor, walls, carpet, wood, etc.

Be very careful where you put the receiver

My initial setup placed the transmitter and receiver about 40 feet and several walls apart. The results were disappointing. The video quality was inferior to that provided by my existing wireless HD solution, and the audio was terrible - everyone sounded as if they had marbles in their mouths.

So I rearranged things so that the transmitter and receiver were separated by about 20 feet and no walls - line of sight. Surprisingly, the results were identical - poor video and garbled sound.

So I put the transmitter and receiver 10 feet apart - poor video and garbled sound. The distance between transmitter and receiver and the number of walls between them made absolutely no difference at all!

In all of these configurations the "info" display showed that the transmitter and receiver were doing a never ending random walk between channel 1 and channel 9, but never agreeing on a good solution.

I was ready to box things up and return them to Amazon when I tried one more experiment.

I moved the receiver from a position four inches below the TV to a location eight inches below the TV. Voila! Excellent video and audio no matter where in my home I place the transmitter.

The moral of the story is: NEVER NEVER NEVER PUT THE RECEIVER ANYWHERE NEAR THE TV!

This is a design defect since the obvious location for the receiver is just below the TV, or somewhere near the TV and it should be fixed.

Bottom line: After initial frustration, I am very pleased with the product. If the receiver could be placed below or behind the TV (like my other wireless HD solutions) I would have given the product a five star review.

Disappointed - cuts out every few minutes - no matter the placement

I read lots and lots of reviews for the IOGEAR Wireless 3D kit and many of the competitors including the Nyrius. Finally decided to go with IOGEAR due to the small size of the receiver which would be visible next to the TV so smaller is better.

My main reason for looking for such a device is because I am moving all electronics out of sight into another room in a cabinet so only the wall mounted LED TV and sound bar are visible.

The thought behind the product is good and I liked the fact that it has built in Remote extender. However it fails in quality/implementation.

Because of lots of bad reviews - and now I am adding one - I had decided to try it out - so I put my blu-ray in the garage with the transmitter and put the receiver near the tv in licing room (linear distance about 15 feet with 1 wall in between) - fired it all up an wallah!! - after a few seconds of scanning and pairing (blue lights flashing), the picture shows up. Everything was working great for about 10 or 15 minutes while I stepped away and came back - TV shows the scanning icon again. I was busy with other things so I waited about 5 minutes - and now the picture returns.

So assuming I had not done the setup correctly or that the wall was interfering, I moved the dvd player in the living room but connected to the transmitter. Fired it up and -- nothing -- the transmitter and receiver kept scanning for over 30 minutes. So I power cycled both of them and picture now shows up. Then it worked for about 1 hour and then again - scanning, scanning, scanning...

Next day I did more fiddling around, trying different setups, locations, etc but the issue persists.

Over all about 6 hours wasted on this. I am hard wiring the HDMI now running the cable behind the wall (25 feet) and buying the monoprice remote extender (yet to be delivered by Amazon).

But this IOGEAR wireless kit is going back...

Suggestions for IOGEAR if you are reading this:
The problem seems because the transmitter/receiver are scanning for clean channel - as each time it works it shows the channel its on along with the source input (HDMI1 or 2). I wish there was a way to set the channel like the old garage door openers that way you can set it and forget it... At least that way it would not keep jumping around channels even when everything was working fine.

Good value, and I like the end connectors

OK, not much you can say about a cable, unless you get one that is bad or "flakey" from a problem with the shield, as we read from a previous posting.

I recently upgraded my HDTV system and now have a HDTV, Blue-ray, and Receiver that supports the HDMI 1.3 spec. This spec enables new high bandwidth features previously not supported in older HDMI cables and equipment. Both the Blue-ray and the HDTV, and my Roku-Netflix box are firmware upgradeable, so this cable should support their enhancements for at least a couple of years.

Being the quintessential anal-retentive Electrical Engineer, I tend to over analyze everything (even if not required). When buying cables (typically, the weak link in most systems), you have to determine if the product is manufactured from a reputable vendor, or built by a couple of guys in their garage, with no quality control. Mediabridge Products is a subsidiary of Broadband Products, Inc. Broadband Products has HDMI certification (see hdmi.org for why this is important).

There are two types of HDMI cable, Standard (Category 1) and High Speed (Category 2), and they have different performance metrics. A Standard cable can transmit a 1080i signal for 15 meters (49 feet) or more, while a High Speed HDMI cable can transmit a 1080p signal for at least 7.5 meters (25 feet). For the most part, running cables less than 5 meters, either will work, but I want to make sure and this cable is Category 2.

Why did I buy this specific cable from this vendor: The vendor has an almost perfect feedback record, the product is low cost for the specs, fulfilled by Amazon, and importantly free shipping, and a return policy that pays the shipping for returns/exchanges of defects.

The best HDMI cables you can buy, at amazing prices

So far I have bought a total of four HDMI cables, in lengths ranging from 3' to 15'. I bought the 3' cable first. It was made by Philips and sold by the most gigantic of all gigantic discount Marts. It worked fine, and it would have been long enough except it was so stiff I could never straighten it out completely. I returned it.

I did some research on Amazon and found these Mediabridge cables with astounding user ratings and amazingly reasonable prices. Not the sub-dollar junk you can also find here, but less than one third the big-box price of the Philips cables in equivalent lengths. I bought two of the 6' cables to connect my two 1080p upconverting DVD players (a Sony 5-disc changer and a Philips region-free single-disc for playing foreign DVDs) to my wonderful (and cheap) AOC HDTV.

I was a little reluctant to buy 6' cables because I only really needed 3', and I know cable length can be tricky with very high-speed signals, but since the Philips 3' wasn't actually usable to that length, and I didn't want to have to return these, I ordered 6'. They work like a dream. They're as flexible as cooked spaghetti and transmit the signals without a single glitch.

Then I bought a new HP laptop with an HDMI output, but to work comfortably the cable had to be longer than 6'. I figured I'd go all the way and order the 15', since it's only marginally more expensive and would allow me to use the HDTV easily for watching streaming movies from Netflix. This cable also works like a dream.

My TV only has two HDMI inputs, so I do a fair amount of plugging and unplugging, with no signs of reliability problems so far. I highly recommend these Mediabridge HDMI cables--in any length--to anybody needing one.

I'm also very impressed with Mediabridge itself. Each cable comes very nicely packaged individually in a sturdy corrugated box, which is put into a larger box for shipping, and they ship quickly directly to the customer. What a relief not to have to saw through a hard plastic shell to get the product out! It's an impressive company. PLUS, they're an American company, and although I don't know if they manufacture the cables domestically, they're unafraid to print their New Jersey street address right on the box.

Does what's expected, honest pricing

Just in case someone may feel guilty for not paying a lot more for, basically the same thing, let's look at our top of the line offer, Monster HDMI 1000HD Ultra-High Speed HDMI Cable (2 meters) and do a quick comparison.

This item supports the HDMI 1.3b standard which is almost as good as it gets (1.3c doesn't add anything special). Any HDMI 1.3 cable can carry up to 10.2 Gbit/s. Hmmm... I suppose the Monster is much better, right? Well... it "guarantees a certified cable bandwidth of 10.2" Okay, but the Monster also supports "x.v.Color, and Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD". It turns out that, all of the above, and more, are part of the HDMI 1.3 specs and they are fully supported by every cable that complies to the standard and can be had for about 90% less in the Mediabridge. The expensive brand presentation simply enumerates the HDMI 1.3 specs as if it being HDMI 1.3 compliant was a really big deal. It is not a big deal. Even a cable that costs 95% less is HDMI 1.3 compliant.

My suggestion: if you think that the proponents of the expensive brand have a point when they claim that their product is a lot more durable, buy TWO Media Bridge wires and still pay almost 80% less than you would pay for one of the expensive ones.

My personal experience: I've never paid 'a lot' for an HDMI cable because it makes no sense to pay more. I took home one of the 'expensive' ones once because the salesman promised to take it back if I wasn't amazed by the difference. It made zero difference and I returned it.
