5works like a charm
By Brandon P.
I purchased this cable in order to watch content from my Lenovo T410 laptop on a HD TV. The laptop has a DisplayPort (DP++) output and the TV has HDMI input.

Simply by connecting the ends of this cable to my laptop and TV, I had an 720p HD image of my laptop screen almost instantly. However, there was no audio.

The lack of audio was *not* due to any flaw in the cable. In the process of troubleshooting, I saw several websites which simply blamed this sort of no-audio problem on a "cheap cable" -- but, while this cable is certainly inexpensive (which is one of the reasons I got it!), it has no trouble carrying audio (and very clear audio, at that).

I eventually found a Lenovo forum which held the answer: "First go to your audio settings by going FN + F6, choose 'Audio Defaults + Settings'. Then choose your TV as the default audio."

This did the trick for me -- I instantly had audio (both through the laptop speakers and the HD TV).

The poster on the Lenovo forum also had this piece of advice (which I never followed, since the first step solved the problem for me): "Now the sneaky part. Push FN + F7 and choose 'Projector Only', then sound will come out of the TV. Took me forever to figure out." Again, I had no need to do this, but I'm re-posting it in case someone else does.

In summary, after some fiddling with my cpu's settings, this cable delivered all that was promised: crystal clear audio and visual from my laptop to my HD TV. Note: I have only used the cable on a handful of occasions during the past few weeks, so I'm not in a good position to evaluate its durability. As a previous reviewer has mentioned, when the DisplayPort end connects to the computer, it "latches" into place, and a small panel must be pressed in order to release it -- this "release latch" doesn't feel like the most sturdy thing in the world, but it hasn't given my any problems so far, and handled gently, I would imagine that it will continue to function just fine.

5great cable
By Chris
I had been looking for something to hook my Lenovo ThinkPad T420 up to an HDMI based display (both a projector and a 40" TV). I almost ordered one of the cheap adapters I found on Amazon until I read the reviews that they got stuck in the Display Port on the computer and would not come out. I then opted to go for a cable with the Display Port on one end and the HDMI on the other end. This cable is great. Does exactly what I needed it to. I get full 1920 x 1080 on both the projector and TV which is the resolution they support, and the sound goes through as well. Couldn't be happier.

5Excellent. The only 25' DisplayPort to HDMI cable I could find and it works great.
By S. Power
My HP EliteBook 8560p has a DisplayPort video output on it instead of the older HDMI type of port. There are a pretty good number of "adapters" on the market, and also short cables, but I wanted a durable end-to-end solution with none of the opportunities for issues that an adapter introduces. I wanted to get this cable from AmazonBasics or from Cables-to-Go, because I've have very good luck with both of them. As it turned out, when I was shopping, this one from "Cable Matters" was the only option that met my needs. I am happy to say, that I am not disappointed at all. The cable does great at sending high definition 1080P 120hz video and high definition audio from my laptop's DisplayPort to my TV's HDMI input. It works wonderfully, and I'm very happy.

The cable is well made and has good, solid, connectors on both ends. It is the correct length and was packaged properly. It is malleable, yet solid.

I have no complaints at all about this cable. The price was a little steep at $25, when I bought it, but considering there is no competition yet for this length cable, I'm not too surprised or upset. I can remember paying two or three times that amount for a similar cable at brick and mortar stores, back before there were alternatives.

I highly recommend this cable. If there is anything else that you'd like to know about it, that I forgot to put in this review, please let me know in the comments section, and I'll address it.

5Excellent product for those who know what they're doing!
By john
While I didn't order it through Amazon.com, I use this at work (IT Helpdesk) and could not be happier. Out of the box, easy hookup, worked perfectly, works great with my office Altigen VOIP phone system at work, not a single issue. Can control volume/mute without even looking at the device, no echoes, just great setup for those looking for a hands-free solution for work. Has multiple audio controls as well as wideband/narrowband audio switch. Yes you do not get a handset lifter to automatically answer, but seriously, read through and you would know that so all the reviews pointing that out, they didn't read the description. Keep up the great work!

5Dispatcher loves this.
By Amazon Customer
Dispatcher wanted a hands free headset so she was free to use the computer while on the phone.
This cordless unit was recommended by ShoreTel as a mate for the VOIP system we purchased from them.
Good Recommendation. Sound is clear and crisp. Cord free distance is more than adequate.
The unit runs all day on a battery charge.
Dispatcher is happy with the device on her head all day.
I'd say it's a winner.
Plantronics has been in the business awhile and knows what they are doing.

5How Did Amazon Manage to Do Better than the "bag companies" on This One?
By MWebb
Well I am simply surprised. I have 4-5 other netbook cases and this one is significantly better than all of them, for a lower price (a word on pricing later):

* The handles are the right thickness and "feel" - they aren't just webbing that seems like an afterthought and feels uncomfortable, they appear to be made of a thinner Neoprene style material with stitching on the "grab" area to create a nicely-formed, nice-feeling, handle. At first I thought there was a "stiffener" inserted in the handle area to give it more shape and "grippability," but apparently its just a good choice of materials and a well-executed design. You won't need any additional handle wrapper to be comfortable!

- I have another zipper case with a handle but would never feel comfortable carrying it by the handle around town. The handle is too flimsy to be comfortable and I don't trust the security of the construction/stitching. This AmazonBasics case is completely different. I feel like I can have my normal day back and carry this one by hand for quick and easy access on a commuter train or bus.

* The zipper, which runs only across the top and down each side about 2", is robust-looking - it isn't one of those "narrow gauge" flimsy looking zippers (technically, it is a "coil" not a "flat lock" design).

* As another reviewer mentioned, the zipper tabs are large enough to find and operate quickly and easily, and they are a "soft rubber" that feels good to the touch. One minor negative is the large "amazon basics" lettering on the zipper pull. Actually it is beginning to grow on me - yeah baby, I am too cheap (and too smart?) for Belkin or Built! (And got a better designed product.)

* There is NO zipper or "single stitch seam" at the bottom of the bag. Look carefully at some other designs. Make sure that when you send the bag down there is actual padding on the bottom of the bag so the netbook won't "slam" down hard on the table top, floor, etc. Some bags are just Neoprene panels that are sewn together at the seams along the perimeter, and the stitching compresses the Neoprene at the perimeter so it can't do its cushioning job.

- My netbook nestles between the "panel seams" (the bag has two flat side panels, then a perimeter panel to give it width, just like a "normal," larger bag) and rests on normal thickness Neoprene.

* Because the zipper isn't full length on the sides (you only need the zipper across the top, it is plenty wide, for getting the netbook in and out), there is less risk of failing to close the zipper completely and having the device slip out one end.

* The inside of this bag is ORANGE so you can easily make sure you haven't left something inside.

* There is a zippered side-slot on the exterior of the bag which may, in fact, be large enough for a Nook as another reviewer noted. There is ample room for a typical power brick with cord, although that would pretty much ruin the appearance of the bag for carrying, but would be helpful for transiting security (if you have to remove power bricks as well as small computers).

- I checked this side-slot for use with both an external DVD player and with a couple of external hard drives. All fit with room to spare (well, not at the same time!).

- My preferred use for this side slot is to carry memory sticks and an older (3rd gen) iPod Touch. The Touch "boots up" much more quickly than a netbook for quick email and Facebook monitoring.

Recommended modifications/usage adjustments:

- I will put some orange duct tape on one handle so I can keep a better eye on this through airport security (although I try to put my computer bag under my shoes and jacket in the bin through security).

- If I end up not liking the Amazon zipper pulls, it is a simple job to cut them off and replace with lanyard style zipper pulls from REI or other sources. But I think I will keep the stock zipper pulls.

- I will probably find an extra microfiber cloth and roll it up length-wise and lay it down across the entire width of the bottom seam to add extra padding there. It's always handy to have a microfiber cloth around anyway, for wiping the screen on the netbook (not required often) or for wiping my iPod Touch screen (required more often).

- I won't store the power brick in the side slot. I don't like the bulge, not for appearance reasons so much as because it creates a potential pressure point against the netbook side. I will store a DVD player or external hard drive if I decide to carry one (the DVD player is useful for playing DVD's purchased on a trip, the external hard drive is useful if I am taking a low-capacity netbook in which I have installed an SSD - solid state drive - instead of a conventional hard drive).

- I probably won't carry this around like a mini-attache. But the handles are almost indispensable in getting a secure grip on the case when inserting the case and netbook into my daily carry pack or into a laptop slot in carryon luggage. The greatest risk of damage is when we pull the case out of our other bag or put it back in, and handles GREATLY reduce the risk of slipping and dropping during those moments.

- During storage at home, I will separate the battery from the main unit so it doesn't discharge, and the side slot is a perfect place to put it (diagonally).

A WORD ON PRICING: Amazon's prices on EVERYTHING fluctuate like the commodities market. This nice piece is selling for 20% less than when I bought it just last week (10 vs 12). You need to compare prices to other netbook bags an other online and bricks and mortar dealers before you buy so you don't get irate later! (At 12 bucks it was a bargain at 10 it's a steal!)

5Works great with my iPad.
By Zulma Johnson
UPDATE 12/03/2013: Going on three years and I am still using this bag for now my iPad 3G. No rips or tears. Has a few stains from coffee spills, but that is about it. Love how the side pocket is expandable/stretchable, I can fit all kinds of extra accessories into it. By far the BEST bag out in the market!

This is the perfect iPad carrying case. I already use the official Apple iPad Case that folds over to protect the iPad from daily use, but now I will be able to carry it without worrying it will slip from my hands. I have been searching for a quality made carrying case with handles that would make it easier to carry my iPad from place to place. The AmazonBasics Netbook bag has been the answer. Unlike other iPad carrying cases I have been eyeballing, this Netbook bag is extremely affordable. The rubber grip zippers operate with ease and it is padded for added protection. I can even fit my iPad in it's case inside this bag without having to jam it in, there is plenty of extra room to spare. The side compartment is great to store my portable AC power adapter and digital camera. Great product.

5Amazingly roomy for such a compact bag!
By Jennifer Ray
Since I bought my netbook, I've been on the hunt for the perfect small case to tote it in. Almost every case I've used has been lacking in some way, but the AmazonBasics Netbook Bag with Handle comes the closest to the perfect case for me of anything I've tried thus far.

Yes, I said it comes the closest, which implies there is something missing, so I'll start with that. It's a pretty minor thing, really, which is why I think the bag still deserves 5 stars. The only thing I would change is I would add a detachable shoulder strap. It's a small detail and one easily remedied by purchasing a universal shoulder strap to it. But if it already had that feature, it would be perfect in my eyes.

Let's move on to what I really appreciate about this case. First and formost, it fits my 10" Asus 1000HE very well while maintaining a small form factor that easily fits inside a larger case. The handles make it easy to pick up and run with when you want to leave the larger case behind and just tote the netbook with you.

On top of that, the zippered side pocket is roomy enough to hold the power adapter for my netbook without `squishing' it. Similar cases have had pockets that were too tight and worried me that they may damage the cable if I stuffed it in them. Not only can I fit the power adapter, but I also keep a Bluetooth mouse in that pocket.

The case has a small bit of padding all around, sufficiently protecting the device with just enough cushion.

If you've been looking for a small netbook bag that can double as a sleeve or an easy-to-tote case on the go, the AmazonBasics Netbook Bag with Handle is for you!

4Panasonic 2-line phone
By LovesBBC
After using for just under 5 months, the phone still works well and as advertised. A good feature is that the portable handsets use standard rechargeable batteries instead of the costly battery packs required by most other phones. Contrary to some raters, the range is also excellent, and I frequently use the phone outside of the house. The only downside found so far is that some of the buttons are not only tiny but are difficult to push, especially for elderly users. With larger and easier to push buttons, I would have rated this phone with 5 stars.

4Solid Phone System With Great Range
By Charlie
We've owned the predecessor to this unit, Panasonic KX-TG6700 (2 line unit) for the last 5 years, and it still works well, but decided to upgrade the new version of the same system. We really were looking for better range, and after replacing the batteries a number of times (@ $30 a pop) it was time for a change. I'm always looking at the MTBF on any components and wanted to replace it because of that also.

Out of the box, the unit installation and setup was a breeze and the base unit was up and working in a few minutes. The cordless phones needed to be charged for 7 hours and were already registered with the base. We spent about 60 minutes getting used to all the new options, putting in all the phone book entries, setting the answering machine greeting messages and it was easy to do. The entire system performs very well and we are very happy with the purchase. We rarely had to look into the manual for help.

Here is what we liked:

The range of the cordless handsets is AMAZING, they were very clear at about 100-150 feet (outside) from the base unit. Also the "dead spots" in the house (3 stories) were totally gone. It had about twice the range of the old phones, big plus for us.

Battery life has improved considerably; we can use the phones all day, and still have lots of battery life left. The specs say you can talk for 12 hours on a single charge, I believe it.

The base unit has a large LCD screen for putting in your phone book, and other settings. Once you put in all your phone book entries, you can easily send them to all the cordless handsets.

Speaker phone works very well, clear with lots of volume.

The answering system will tell you what line the call came in on. I do not have to go through all the messages to see which ones are personal and business. I can just go to Line 2 messages, and get the business calls, and my wife can go to Line 1 messages to get all the personal messages. Like It.

The cordless handsets have 6 icons that are displayed when you press the Menu button. This helps in navigating through all the options.

What we did not like:

On the cordless handsets, the Talk and Off buttons are very small, much smaller than the number buttons. For buttons you use on every call, they should be bigger.

On the cordless handsets, the Talk and Off buttons should be backlit, when you are in a dark environment, you cannot find the button to hang up the phone or start a call.

When you create Groups (Friends, Family, Work...) for your phone book entries on the base unit they do not get sent to the cordless handsets. So when you take the time to organize all your contacts into Groups and send them to the cordless handsets, they all end up in the generic Group 1. Then you have to create new groups and move them around again, what a pain.

The ring tones you can select on the base unit are not the same as the cordless handsets, this is crazy. When a call is coming in, the base unit has one ring tone, and if the cordless handsets are near the base unit, they have a different ring tone and you have all of them ringing at a different tone simultaneously. It's very annoying.

When setting options on the base unit, there are screens you navigate to that you cannot get out of (no Back Button). You end up hitting Stop button on the phone itself to get out of that display. There should always be a Back Button.

There is an icon on both systems for "Help", when you click on it, it says to go to panasonic.com for support. Don't waste my screen space.

The cordless handsets are a little smaller than the previous ones and the plastic case is very smooth and harder to hang on to. I've dropped the old ones a number of times (still work), I hope these are as durable.

3Mediocre at best
By Craig
I find this system to be mediocre at best. I had an older Panasonic semi-pro analog system (KX-TG4000B 4-line) that I wanted to replace to get the DECT 6.0 digital system, because we get interference on the old analog system. This system does indeed eliminate that interference, however in many ways it is inferior to that old system. Here are some of the primary downsides to this system (not in any particular order):

(1) If you want to turn off one of the lines so that it doesn't ring (like at night), you have to do it individually from every handset. There's no blanket turn-off from the base unit. (There is a "night" feature that lets you do an automatic scheduled turn off at a set time, but that's no good unless you go to bed and wake up at the exact same time every day.)

(2) The sound quality is free from interference, but the volume is low and the audio frequency range is not very good, on both the handsets and the base unit. Callers on the other side have complained that our volume is a little low.

(3) It has different ring tones you can select, which is great, but the set of ring tones is different for the handsets than from the base unit. So you can't have a consistent set of ring tones for each line between the base and the handsets.

(4) The speakerphone on the base unit is of poor quality. It is not loud enough. Also, when you mute it still cuts out when the other side goes somewhat quiet. If your side is muted, it should never cut off the other side. Because of these two problems, it can be difficult to hear the other side if they are not particularly loud.

(5) The volume settings are not granular enough. There are only 5 volume settings, and usually setting 2 is too low but setting 3 is too loud and distorts.

(6) No battery backup on the base unit. Seems like it wouldn't be much to include a few batteries in the base unit. I solved this by connecting it to a UPS.

(7) The quality (audio frequency response) of the recorded outgoing message is not very good.

It is not bad enough that I would return it, it is useable. But it is disappointing, especially compared to the old semi-pro system we used to have.

5Great Drive.
By MaxP
I have purchased four of these in the last six months and the have all been flawless. They are plenty fast, have a large cache and will hold more data than I will ever need for not that much more than either a two or one terabyte version. I monitor them carefully as they are installed in a NAS and run 24/7 and to date, the oldest one has been working perfectly. I am very pleased and highly recommend it.

43TB - split space - partition as GPT, not MBR
By shomizu9
After reading a few other reviews on here and elsewhere, thought I'd clear up a bit of confusion about large drives.

If you have Windows and you are going to initialize the disk for the first time, you are usually prompted to partition as MBR (Master Boot Record) or GPT (GUID Partition Table). If you chose MBR (like I did at first), you will notice the unallocated space is split in two.

If you choose GPT instead of MBR, or convert the disk to GPT, you will have your contiguous 3TB of unallocated space. For why this is so, search for "GPT vs MBR" or something similar on the internet.

So far the drive has performed well, no issues.

Hope this helps!

4Tool Box could be better. Update 11/05/2013: Still reliable after 1 year.
By MoJo In New Orleans
Thank you Amazon for the very quick delivery.

I have been noticing that a lot of SSD vendors ship out their products in nothing more than a hard plastic shell, not Kingston. The Hyper 3k comes packaged with a nice box. The SSD and the 3.5" adapter and screws are held snugly in place by dense foam. As this is a bare drive, there are no software or sata cable provided. However, sata cables are cheap and software to clone your old drive to your new SSD can be downloaded for free from various software companies.

I'm sure you all are aware that SSDs are fast, really fast when compared to HDD. This Hyper 3k is no exception. To maximize the speed of this SSD make sure you run it in AHCI mode and not IDE mode. It is very comparable to my girlfriend's Samsung 830 speedwise. It is also built, in my opinion, a little sturdier than the Samsung. It seems a little heavier and the header where you plug in the power and sata is much, much better than the Samsung. With the Samsung when you try to disconnect the sata cable it almost feel as if the whole header will come off. The Samsung, however, has a much better toolbox called Samsung SSD Magician. The Samsung SSD Magician has features to optimize the OS, to do firmware update, to run benchmark, performance optimization, and secure erase. The Kingston SSD Toolbox, which must downloaded from Kingston website, only gives you Drive and Details. Details is useless, and Drive will tell you the model of your SSD and the firmware that came with your SSD. Kingston, you guys really need to give us a better toolbox. Visually, the toolbox looks like it was designed back in the 90's.

Firmware can not be updated via the Toolbox, you have to go to Kingston website and download it from there. Quite cumbersome. Also in order to update the firmware, you HAVE to be in AHCI mode. If you are in IDE mode, don't panic, there are quite a few tutorials on the web on how to change from IDE to AHCI by in the registry and reboot into bios to enable AHCI.

Good news for Windows 7 users, your SSD will be automatically be 4K aligned. What does that mean? It means you can clone or migrate your OS to the new SSD and not having to worried about doing the 4K alignment yourself.

For cloning my HDD to my Hyper 3k I used to programs, AOMEI partition Assistant 5.1 and Macrium Reflect 5. Both are free programs.
1. Install your SSD in the computer case but don't plug it in to the motherboard yet.

2. Uninstall any programs that you no longer used in your HDD, are haven't used in a long while, which means you are no longer using it:)

3. Defrag your HDD. What you are doing is trying to remove as much data as possible because the content that is left has to fit into
your new SSD.

4. Once it is smaller, launch AOMEI and shrink your drive. For example, you wean down the content of your 1TB drive to 150GB of data. Macrium Reflect will not be able to clone your drive because it still sees 1TB and will give you an error message that your source drive is bigger than you destination drive. With AOMEI you can shrink the PARTITION of you drive to 150GB. There is a tutorial on AOMEI's website. *you will have to reboot after AOMEI shrinks your partition*

5. After the reboot, power down your computer.

6. Plug your SSD to the motherboard with the sata cable and connect the sata power cable from your power supply to the SSD.

7. Turn on your computer and go disk management and initialize the unknown drive (your SSD). Once initialized, Windows will recognize your SSD and assigned a drive letter to it.

8. Launch Macrium reflect and click on clone my drive. It will show your HDD and SSD. All you have to do is drag the partitions down to the SSD. Most people will only have 2 partitions on the HDD.

9. Sit back, relax, this could take 30 minutes or more depending on how much data you have. I only had to clone 73GB so it took only 17 minutes.

10. After it's done, you will need to reboot.

11. Google how to enable AHCI mode and follow the steps (not long and complicated at all).

12. One more reboot and you are done.

Enjoy your new drive:)

Update 11/05/13: After 1 year of usage, this SSD is still as fast as the 1st day I installed it. It has proven to be very reliable. The Kingston HyperX 3K withstood 2 abrupt power failure and a lot, and I mean a lot, of writing cycles as I am constantly moving my steam games back and forth from SSD to my HDD. Toolbox still shows that my SSD's health is still 100%.

The Holiday season is here and if you are looking purchase a SSD for yourself or as a gift for someone else, I recommend that you consider this SSD (if the price is right).

5Update your firmware!! (EDIT - this is no longer necessary, but firmware support has ended. See comments)
By Josh Hinnenkamp
My drive which shipped on October 15th, 2012 came with revision 501 (501ABBF0) firmware on it, which has been out-of-date since June. At this time, the latest revision is 503 (503ABBF0) which was released in August.

I had some difficulty updating the firmware to Rev 503. The Kingston firmware update utility (found at Kingston.com > Support > Drivers/Downloads > Solid-State Drives > HyperX SSD -- SH103S3 > Firmware Update) would not recognize the drive.

As it turns out, it was either a conflict with the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) software I had installed, or the Intel AHCI driver that installs with the Intel RST software. Once I uninstalled Intel RST, rebooted, and the generic AHCI driver was automatically installed in its place by Windows 7, the Kingston firmware update utility recognized the drive and successfully updated to revision 503.

Once the update was completed, the Kingston firmware update utility will recognize the drive with or without the Intel RST software and Intel AHCI driver installed. There must be an incompatibility with revision 501.

The Kingston firmware update utility will tell you your firmware revision number. Make sure to check it out first thing after you get your drive!

3Good fast drive nice vs sale price w/ bracket but.....
By Stephen
Drive is a good cost performance pay off but...
sata and power connectors seems to be made of brittle plastic without any reinforcement of a surrounding housing. This makes it easy to tweak the connection a bit when installing in tighter cases for instance. After 3 unplugs entire plastic connector broke off inside power connector.

Lucky exposed copper prongs still still allowed me use what was left of the messed up connector, so I continue to use the drive.

If I was a complete noob I would probably just being flaming this drive. Admittedly I could have been a bit more careful had I known how delicate these connectors were. Never had this kind of issue with the untold amount drives I have swapped in my lifetime. I bought it on sale, so GREAT DEAL!, just be careful with those connectors. Maybe even apply some dielectric grease.

4Solid performance, good value, Nikon nails it again!
By Yano
This camera may be the best APS-C in its class so far. After Nikon's quality control issue with the full-frame D600 (sensor oil spot problem), Nikon may be able to win back its trust with this new release, again aimed at enthusiasts and amateur photographers. Being an amateur photographer for years and have invested quite a sum in Sony, Canon and Nikon bodies and lenses, I myself settled with Nikon in personal preference. I would say all three brands got its personality (good and bad), especially with Sony pushing the translucent mirror technology.

The D5200 is a step up from the D3200 as an entry to mid-level body. Very solid performance and thank god it does not suffer the fate of the D600. The D5200 produces extremely good quality images just like the D3200. Both the D3200 and D5200 share the 24MP sensor resolution, with the difference being the light sensitivity in high ISO situations. Both cameras are able to produce extremely well results in terms of photo quality. I am usually able to get better image results from the D3200 and D5200 compared with Sony's A65 and A77 in actual use. Sony somehow made the older A55 easier than the A65 and A77 at getting a clean and noise free shot (maybe due to sensor difference). So Nikon wins here, I would say the image quality of the D5200 is as good as the well acclaimed Canon 60D in most cases easily done (with the D5200 at a higher resolution). So the major difference of the D5200 compared with the D3200 is the focus sensor and exposure meter sensor. The D5200 borrows the technology from the bulkier D7000 and presents 39 AF points including 9 cross-type AF points for accuracy and a more precise exposure metering system (D3200 have 11 AF points, 1 cross-type). This is extremely useful in specific situations, such as shooting moving objects or in macro photography. The D3200 performed very well in everyday shooting, but with my 40mm and 60mm Nikon Micro lenses, the AF failed to accurately or effectively focus on very close subjects. The D5200 however is much better, the body focused efficiently on to desired subjects precisely. The focus speed is still mainly dependent on the lens.

The swing-out LCD screen is useful in some situations and video shooting, but proves less useful to me. And keep in mind when using live-view, the camera no longer uses the phase-detection AF sensors, but rather switches to use contrast AF, which utilizes your APS-C image sensor and the CPU (less accurate and slower AF in most cases).

The D5200 is not designed to be weatherproof, but it will survive a short time of mist and a few droplets. Anything more may just end up killing the camera. The battery life is very good for photos, will last you 1000+ shots on a single charge in most cases while not using live-view. However when you need it for a video project, consider carrying a few extra batteries with you or resort to an external power source.

If you are starting out in Nikon or just DSLR in general, buy the 18-55mm Kit, and add on the 55-200mm VR lens (you get $100 discount bundled). The Nikon 55-200mm DX VR is a VERY GOOD lens, you do not want to get it later since you may be paying the full price for a new one. The VR (Nikon's optical vibration reduction) of the 55-200mm will allow you to capture subjects/people at a good wanted distance with extremely well image quality and brilliant background defocus, opens many doors for quality and creativity. The Nikon 55-200mm DX VR is one of the best lenses I have used and also at a very affordable price.

The other kit lens offering of the D5200 is the 18-105mm kit. The 18-105mm is not very good and I'm not going to get too much into the details; it generally is not very good in terms of construction for a heavier lens and causes more barrel distortion.

For me, how the function buttons are positioned on the D5200 is a little awkward, but for others it may just be a matter of time to get used to. Compared with the D5100, the D5200 is quite a big step-up in terms of crucial internal hardware.

5ROCK SOLID PERFORMANCE! More Bang For Buck Than The Canon 6D.
By Faymus Media
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2F2NYTG7I4CR0 The D5200 has 24MP. 39 AF points 9 are cross type. While the Canon 6D only has 11 AF points and 1 cross type. The 6D is more than 2 times the cost and has 22MP. The Nikon D5200 has a rotating screen, picture control presets, aperture priority, shutter priority, P, and M modes. The D5200 has +/- 5 stops of exposure compensation, the 6D has 3!

The D5200 has a great burst rate of 5fps. ISO range from 100-25,600. Exspeed 3 processing power, face recognition, and full time AF with full HD video. What more could you ask for when buying a camera less than $900? I did a complete hands on review video for "Focus Camera" in NYC. I will be posting it to this review sometime later in the week when finished.

My thoughts are this camera is light, and while it is not as rugged as a 6D or D600 you get what you pay for. This camera provides great lowlight performance and stunning resolution that is higher than the $3400 5D mark II. Which is worth mentioning. Nikon has leaped ahead of the competition with their new line of cameras.

The auto focus on this camera while doing some street and urban photography is very quick and accurate. I had a blast using it as the weight is a very big plus because it can be more easily carried for longer periods of time. If you are in market for a great camera and you are not willing to spend $2k for the D600, there is nothing that will compete with this camera in terms of "Bang for Buck" with either of the brands for under $2k.

The only 3 things worth complaining about is you can't change aperture in Live View, however you can't do that in the D600 either. It isn't 100% viewfinder, which would be nice. Also the internal microphone is not that great but does have manual control. These 3 issues are not that big of a deal when considering what this camera does so well for its price range.

Great camera, amazing capabilities, worth every penny.

Video to Come later this week.

5Nice step up from the D5100, Big Plus Articulating Screen!
By Adam Petrone
I upgrade every 2 years or so and was close to buying the D7000 when this was announced. I owned the D5100 since it's release and have been very happy with it, but being a gadget guy I'm always looking to upgrade. As far as I was concerned the D7000 was buying old technology. I love the D5200's interface as it's much easier to navigate than the D5100 and the auto focus is much quicker and precise. The photo's are sharp and very accurate in color. I'm very happy with the D5200. Just for the 39-point AF system for smarter focusing and tracking of moving subjects (compared to the 11-point module on the D5100), a 2,016-pixel RGB metering sensor (whereas the D5100 judged exposure based on just 420 pixels),the new Expeed 3 processor that permits up to five shots per second (versus the older camera's 4 fps)and the new easier to navigate interface makes it worth the price. Let me just add 1 more very big plus, the articulating screen, no other Nikon has it and it is a big plus. I've used it for shots over others heads and other creative angles that I could never get with a fixed screen.

4Amazing new Kindle is nearly perfect except for ads in the non-ad version
By Chad Bush
So far, I love my new Paperwhite Kindle. I've been using an aging keyboard Kindle 2, waiting for a version with a built-in light like this. Amazon really got it right with the light on this one.

The high resolution screen is noticeably easier to read, and the user interface is well thought out.

The form factor is also an amazing improvement. I like the tactile feel of the Kindle's back, although I'm awaiting shipment of Amazon's leather case because I like to take my Kindle everywhere and this device feels small and delicate, and I've liked the old Amazon leather case on my old Kindle.

The one thing keeping me from giving this product a 5-star review is a software issue that really irks me: I paid the extra $20 to have a Kindle without advertising, yet the entire bottom half of the home screen in cover view is taken up with Amazon's recommendations for me to buy new books. This is advertising, and it is totally unacceptable in a product that costs extra just to avoid advertising. Targeted advertising is still advertising, and there's not enough space on this screen to make any amount of advertising okay with me.

If I ever want to see what Amazon recommends for me, I'll visit the Amazon Store and look myself. The end result of this unsolicited advertising on my home screen is that I have to scroll past it to see more than three of the titles on my device, whereas if the ad was gone, I could see six titles right away on the home screen. Given the way the Kindle's user interface is designed, going to the home screen is necessary to get just about anywhere else, so this advertising block causes me to have to scroll past it over and over again, gumming up my otherwise smooth user experience on the device.

Amazon could easily make this optional with a software update, and I hope they do so very soon. At the very least, this unsolicited, mandatory advertising on the home screen needs to be explicitly disclosed on the sales pages. Had I known that there would still be advertising I could not remove on my device, I might not have paid $20 to avoid advertising.

Until Amazon gives us the option to disable these "recommendations" on the home screen, I've used parental controls to just disable the store completely on my Kindle. That does make the ads go away, but it's not really a convenient solution, because if I ever actually want to buy something on my Kindle, I'll need to type in a password and re-enable the store. I'll more likely use a different device for all purchases. This forced advertising, then, really backfires in my case because instead of enticing me to buy more books right on my Kindle, it's prompted me to shut the store down completely on the Kindle.

5Excellent Font Resolution, Love the Light, and Great Overall Experience
By Michael Gallagher
I have been using the Paperwhite exclusively for reading for two weeks now vs. my other Kindles, and I am writing this review from the perspective of being a long-time Kindle user vs. someone brand new to the Kindle experience as well as in direct comparison to the Kindle Touch, which the Paperwhite replaced.

From an overall standpoint, and considering everything you get (compact e-Reader,touch screen, lighting system), the Paperwhite is a very good e-Reader. I am amazed at how much smaller these e-Readers can become with each new generation yet still not feel like you're losing anything from a "feels like a book" experience.

To address the reading experience, I wasn't sure what to expect with the display. Needless to say, the text on the screen is much more crisp than any of the other version of an e-Ink Kindle I have used, and just to ensure I wasn't being biased I put the Paperwhite next to a Kindle 3 / Keyboard, a Touch, a "regular" Kindle, and a Kindle DX - all on the same page of a book with the covers removed (didn't want the cover to give an optical illusion or anything) - and you can clearly see a better quality in terms of the fonts.

Reading at night is a good experience with the lighting display in comparison to the other versions of Kindle because you don't need an additional light that can get in the way: it didn't disturb, for example, my wife who likes to watch TV in a dark room. It was also very convenient on a plane ride at night as I was able to see the full page of the text vs. a light attachment only reaching most of the screen: there are no impediments to the reading screen.

Turning the page backwards and forwards is as simple as a simple tap of the thumb as you hold the device or, if you prefer, a swipe with your finger in either direction. It did take a little getting used to turning with my thumb as I have been trained after years on a Kindle Keyboard and DX to press a button - it didn't take that long and after about 5% or so into a science fiction novel I didn't even notice the new turning action. This page turning experience is a significant improvement over the previous Kindle Touch and much appreciated!

Accessing the menu structure of the Paperwhite is as simple as touching the top 20-30% of the screen where you can quickly access a keyboard, hit the menu, table of contents, etc. Navigation is a piece of cake.

Web surfing speed with the WiFi feature on the Paperwhite is about the same as the other type of e-Ink Kindles. Doing a side-by-side test I tried the mobile websites of Fox News and CNN and they popped right up; the usual slow sites were still slower than Christmas. Checking email with an e-Ink Kindle via gmail is a chore with this as well as other versions of e-Ink Kindle, but none of that is really important to me as I have too many device that do that anyway: when I have my Kindle, I usually want to read a book vs. surf the web or check email.

Despite what people may say, size matters! In this case, the Paperwhite is not too small and not too large and Amazon appears to have hit the sweet spot. I would highly recommend the Amazon-branded case for it, as it fits snug and firm and automatically puts the unit into sleep mode when you close the cover, and wakes it back up when you open the cover. To see the cover I purchased, click this link: Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Leather Cover, Onyx Black (does not fit Kindle or Kindle Touch)

About the only negative I have for this unit, if you could even call it a negative, is I wish I had bought the 3G version vs. the Wi-Fi only - for someone who travels a lot with my job, what was I thinking?!? Accordingly, I ordered one of those. Despite that statement, for just $119 I think this is a great unit and I enjoyed reading with it: the Paperwhite may soon be replacing my beloved Kindle Keyboard permanently!

5Better resolution and a new lighting system combine for an exceptional e-reader
By Scott
OVERALL USE
The reading experience on the Paperwhite is excellent. The Paperwhite is much more enjoyable to use than the Kindle Touch or the Kindle Keyboard, thanks mostly to the display (more on that below). The Home button from the Touch has been removed, and you now navigate to the menus by touching the top of the screen. Like the Touch, there are no physical page turn buttons. If you want to advance the page, you either swipe, or press the middle/right hand side of the screen (most of the display area is set up to advance the page). To go back a page, you press anywhere on the left 20% of the screen. To access the menu, you press the top 10% of the screen. Contrast for the display can quickly and easily be adjusted with two taps, so it can be brightened or darkened without a lot of menu navigation. There are still eight font sizes like previous generations had, but instead of just three typefaces, you now have six (Baskerville, Caecilia, Caecilia Condensed, Publisher Font, Futura, Helvetica, and Palatino). Publisher Font lets you use the book publisher's embedded font. None of the books I have tried out yet have this option, but I can see how it can provide them with a lot more flexibility. The additional fonts, along with the ability to adjust line spacing and margins, make it much easier to read books that a publisher formats poorly to begin with (as anyone who struggled with the early edition of 'Game of Thrones' can attest to).

The menu system is a bit improved over the Touch. Instead of the basic list display for your books, Paperwhite now includes a graphical display of your book covers (like the Kindle Fire) in addition to the traditional list view. Unfortunately, it will only display three books covers, because the second row of covers are reserved for covers of Amazon book recommendations. It's clear that Amazon wants to use the Paperwhite to market their products more. Cloud integration is very easy as well. If you have more than 1,000 books, just store some on your free Amazon Cloud drive. Downloading them to the device is very quick and simple. The Paperwhite comes with Kindle Collections which allows you to organize and store your books more easily and put them into genres or collections by author/subject, however the way collections are displayed could be improved, since a list display will still show the individual books on the list, even after you move them into a collection. Ideally, I think it should work like a file system, where you sort them into a collection and then those books will only display when you open that collection folder.

DISPLAY
This is where the Paperwhite really shines. The display is absolutely beautiful. I never had a problem with the display on any of my previous kindles, and always thought there wasn't much room for improvement, but you can really tell a difference when looking at the two side by side. Kindles all use E-Ink displays to mimic printed text. The Paperwhite has an improved e-ink display, which is sharper, has improved contrast and resolution, and uses front-lit technology with its built-in light. Images look much sharper, which shouldn't matter too much since most people don't use their kindles for images, but the text looks better as well. The resolution has increased from 167 pixels per inch (PPI) and 600x800 resolution on all previous models to 221 PPI and 768 x 1024 on the Paperwhite.

The lighting is nothing like a traditional back lit screen (like you would see on the iPad or Nook). It is very even and doesn't hurt your eyes at all. I could stare at the display for hours as easily as reading a book. Reading in bright sunshine is no problem and even improved over the Touch. There are four small led lights underneath the bezel at the bottom, which carry light through a grid built into the display. This allows for very even lighting, as opposed to using a clamp on light that directs light to one area, and then spills down to the rest. There are 24 different light levels so it is very customizable, and you can change the level very quickly without having to spend a lot of time going through menus. So the great thing is, you don't need to order a separate light for your Kindle. Unless I am outside or in a bright room, I always use the Amazon cover with built in light for my Touch, which I would prefer not to do, because it adds weight to the device and doesn't feel as comfortable as holding a bare kindle without a cover. With Paperwhite, the screen is uniform and easy to read. It may sound like the glow could get annoying, but it is very pleasing to the eyes and easy to read from. It soft enough that you can read in bed with a partner and not disturb them at all (with my Touch I had to make sure I slept on the left side of the bed (the direction the light faced) because the led would blind the person on the right). I cannot emphasize enough how brilliant the screen is and encourage you to find a display model to look at if you're on the fence about it. I've used the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight and the Paperwhite display blows it out of the water. The only problem with it, is that there are four thumbnail-sized shadows at the bottom of the display where the led lights sit. They are not very dark, but they are noticeable at first and prevent perfect uniformity. I learned to ignore them after a few minutes. There is also one area on the top menu that does not completely blend into the background when you bring the menu up. Not a big deal but it is a small glitch.

FORM FACTOR
The Paperwhite is a tiny bit smaller and thinner than the Touch, but not by too much. Users of the Touch should not have any problems, but if you're coming from the Kindle Keyboard, it will probably feel a bit awkward to hold it with one hand for awhile, because you don't have as much surface to grip since you can't touch the screen. To understand what I'm talking about, try holding a paperback book in one hand, but only let your hand touch the outer 3/4" of the front of it. You can see in the ads and videos that users are just barely gripping the outside of the Paperwhite so their hand doesn't get in the way of the screen. This is actually a fairly awkward way to hold the Kindle for any significant length of time, as users of the Touch may recall (I can guarantee you that girl laying on the ground reading and just barely holding onto the corner with her thumb did not hold it that way for long). You eventually get used to it, but you still have to shift your hand every once in awhile because it gets uncomfortable. I think the perfect way for me to hold it is to cup your hand like you're holding a mug of beer, and let the kindle rest on your pinky finger like an easel.

The Paperwhite also now has a rubberized back (like the Kindle Fire) compared to the smoother back of the Touch. With the Touch, you had to rely on your palm and thumb to support it. With the Paperwhite, your fingers don't slide off so easily and can assist to support the back. Although this sounds like a small issue, anyone who has tried to hold a Touch with one hand for more than 30 minutes will appreciate this. So it's easier to hold over the Touch, but the Kindle Keyboard is still the most comfortable to grip.

Two more great additions to the form factor - since it no longer has an IR light built into it, the depth of the bezel is half the size. This makes for a smoother transition to the display, collects less dirt, and looks better. Lastly, the display screen feels different than any previous kindles. It has a very slight textured surface (almost like the page of a book) to it instead of being completely smooth. It is hard to describe, but it is much more pleasurable to the touch than the previous Kindle Touch, and swiping is more pleasant.

TOUCH RESPONSE
Kindle Paperwhite now has a capacitive touch screen. This is almost worth the upgrade alone. The Touch used an IR-based touch screen, so it would register any movement as a touch, even if it wasn't from your body. I would frequently be reading in bed and move to get more comfortable, and the sheets would hit the display and cause it to skip to the next chapter. So then I would have to bring up the menu and go back. I was always careful about closing the cover when I moved to prevent an accidental "touch." I've always been very satisfied with the speed of the page turns on the Touch and never had a problem with it, but this has improved as well, and page turns now register a bit quicker. It is too quick for me to measure the increase, but I think most people will see a noticeable change in response and appreciate it. It is very easy to type with the built in keyboard, so you can easily search for phrases or navigate to something specific in the book. Flipping pages is very quick and page turns are almost instant. Instead of having to move my finger to swipe or tap into a page turn, I rest my thumb right against the bezel, and when I want to turn a page, I just shift it very slightly so it touches the screen.

BATTERY LIFE
I haven't been able to run reliable testing on the battery, but Amazon's claim of 8 weeks battery (using for 30 minutes a day) even with the light on seems to me to likely be fairly accurate given my limited use of it. Even previous Kindle generations have had amazing batteries so this has never been a problem for me in the past.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES
The Kindle Touch came with some new features, but I never really used any of them too much. Paperwhite has several new features that make reading a more interactive experience (if you want it to be):
- BUILT IN DICTIONARY - Long press a word for about 2 seconds and you get an instant definition. I use this feature all the time and it is one of my favorite advantages of the Kindle over a traditional book.
- TIME TO READ - By far my favorite new feature. Previous kindles provide a percentage or a visual indicator of how long a book is. Paperwhite still does that, but also tells you how many hours/minutes you have to finish a book or a chapter, by calculating your average reading speed, and constantly adjusting it. I do not know if it calculates this amount based on the number of pages in a book or the number of words, but it proved to be incredibly accurate, and I had to stop looking at it because I found myself trying to "beat" it. A very fun feature and fairly useful for deciding if you have time to finish a new chapter while waiting for your plane to board or before going to bed. You can just tap it and it will switch to the percentage + the confusing "location" view instead. Some books will display Real Page Numbers to show you the actual page number that would correspond with a physical book, but none of mine had this feature built in.
- EXPERIMENTAL BROWSER - Kindle's "experimental" web browser is back, and is a little bit improved due to the higher resolution, but I still wouldn't want to use it for graphical-heavy sites. I'm not sure how fast the 3g browser will be but the wi-fi version was decent enough that I could use it in a pinch.
- SOCIAL FEATURES - Like the Touch, the Paperwhite has integration with Twitter and Facebook, so you can let people know when you're done with a book, or share favorite passages. I can see how some people might like this, but I would much rather have integration with Shelfari so I can update my account once I've finished a book and rate it. This is Amazon's own service so it seems like they are missing a huge opportunity here to promote it. Paperwhite also lets you leave a rating when you've finished a book. I have no idea what this rating is for or where it goes, but it would be great if you integrated this into product pages and had a "kindle rating" where they aggregated all of the ratings left by kindle users. This would allow people to leave a rating without having to write a long-winded (ahem) review and would also contain only ratings by people who had purchased the book. Probably unnecessary but I really think they could do more with the social features to make them useful.
- X-Ray - One of the best features IF your kindle book comes with it. It's like a built-in wiki for your book, and you can call it up at any time to learn more about people, places, and subjects in your book. My current book has 684 characters, and this is great for keeping track of who everyone is.
- WHISPERSYNC - I have a Kindle Fire, Touch, Keyboard, Kindle for PC, and Kindle Cloud Drive, and Whispersync works fairly well to sync all of my books across all devices. If I pick up my Fire to read a few chapters, I want to be able to start at the same place when I pick up the Paperwhite. Syncing is mostly accurate but sometimes it doesn't register on one of my devices for some reason.
- ABOUT THE AUTHOR - Amazon has announced this new feature that lets you view biographical information about the author and character summaries at the end of the book, much like a real book. None of my books had this feature yet, but it seems like a great idea to add value to Kindle books.

ACCESSORIES
I buy a cover for all of my kindles, mostly to use the built-in light, but the covers add bulk and make it difficult to carry one in a pocket, as well as adding weight to it which makes holding it for long periods a bit frustrating. Amazon's official cover is the Paperwhite Leather Cover), but with the Paperwhite display, I won't be using the cover unless I travel with the kindle. This makes it much easier to hold and feels less like I'm holding a tablet in my hands. The Paperwhite isn't scratch-proof, but it definitely is a bit more rugged than the Touch and I don't think most people will even need a cover for it. I do like the cover better than the official one Amazon produced for the Touch, and you can read my full review of it on the page for the Paperwhite Leather Cover).

CONS
- Probably the biggest con for most people, is that the Mp3 player and all audio features have been completely removed. The main purpose of this device is to read books, so I don't fault Amazon for that decision, but I did enjoy cueing up some light classical music occasionally on my Touch and Kindle Keyboard right before bed. This of course means that there is no more text to speech playback of books or integration with audio books. As such, they have dropped the onboard memory to 2GB (about 1,000 books). With integration to Amazon's Cloud service, this should be more than enough for book storage.
- I love the matte finish on the back of the device, but it does get a bit smudgy from my fingers and You can't really wipe them off without a wet cleaner. The smudging isn't so noticeable that it would bother me though.
- Slight shadowing at the bottom of the device from the LED lights.
- I also actually wish the bezel on the right side was slightly wider and offset a bit. Of course, this wouldn't help left-handed people, but it would make it a little bit easier to hold without having your hand block the screen at all. If you don't use a heavy cover on it, this also shouldn't really be a problem.
- No Power adapter. It comes with a micro-usb charging cable, but you have to have a computer or already own a power adapter from another product to be able to charge it. Amazon did this with the Touch as well and I think it is absolutely ridiculous. I know Amazon wants to charge separately for this but I think not including one is really greedy. If you need one, you may want to buy the Kindle Power Adapter although I'm sure you could probably find a much cheaper one somewhere.
- No Shelfari integration as mentioned above.

CONCLUSION
In my review of the Kindle Touch, I said that while it was a nice device, I didn't feel like it warranted an upgrade for users of 2nd and 3rd generation kindles. The Kindle Paperwhite is definitely upgrade-worthy for all previous kindle users who read more than a few books a year. A stunning display, better touch sensitivity, and software features that Amazon should have come out with years ago, finally make the Kindle the undisputed leader in the e-reader market. Previously I would go back and forth between my Kindle Touch and Fire when reading books, but the Paperwhite is such a pleasure to use that I can't imagine ever choosing the Fire over it again. If you are an avid reader and have never purchased a Kindle before, the Paperwhite will really give you an appreciation for how far these devices have come.

5Price is right, looks good, performs flawlessly
By A. Dent
A - This is indeed what you need - this is NOT a 'regular' HDMI cable. One of its ends is a 'mini' (Type C) connector that may be required by certain cameras such as the Flip MinoHD but is not compatible with 'regular' equipment. And do NOT confuse the 'mini' with the 'micro' (Type D) HDMI connector which is even smaller and works with the newest/smallest gadgets. Check your gadget's manual before you place your order. Tablets tend to require a 'micro' connector.

B - You don't mind paying very little. If you search Amazon for 'HDMI mini' you will find quite a few similar items, some of them selling for a lot more but performing the exact same fashion.

And, talking about specs, this cable is a 'High Speed' rated HDMI 1.4 cable 'with Ethernet'.

- The 'High Speed' rating is largely meaningless, indicating that the cable supports 1080p video - almost all do and no one should ever consider buying anything less.
- The 'with Ethernet' badge indicates that if the 2 connected devices support Ethernet AND support HDMI 1.4, they will be able to use the HDMI cable for Ethernet traffic instead of requiring a separate additional phone-like wire. Of course, none of the small cameras that would use a mini HDMI connector talk 'Ethernet' so this 'with Ethernet' feature doesn't really matter much.
- 6 ft. length is just about right. The cable is long enough to allow for a connection to the back of your TV or receiver while the 'mini' end can be pulled to the front where your camera would plug. My new receiver came with a front HDMI port and a good-looking 6 ft. cable for playing video on the big screen from my camera is exactly what I needed.
- It's pretty. Given that this is a visible HDMI cable, not something that goes to the back of your entertainment center, looking good adds value.

I had no trouble to plug the mini end into my MinoHD and the regular into a our receiver and play video directly. Playback was flawless and, even though this is not something that everyone needs or anyone needs often, it doesn't hurt having one around.

I am granting this cable 5 stars because it performs flawlessly, the price is absolutely right and for its premium looks.

HDMI mini from laptop to HDMI of monitor. Works fine. Good build quality. Do not mix up with HDMI micro which is typical for tablet.

5Amazing!
By Lg
I have a friend who bought a pontoon boat this past summer. It was in great shape but it was older and so we installed a new stereo. These are AMAZING!!!!! I hooked them up to an Amp and they sound crystal clear, Tested them while boat was still on the trailer in his driveway and i swear my Entire neighborhood heard loud and CLEAR! And they look awesome way better than the usual white crappy plastic marine speakers you find out there. Will buy again If i ever need more!

3Careful on size!
By John D. Biggs
Was not able to install this because its actually 7.25". The grill is non-removable, even if you are crafty. If you have a space constraint I recommend you look at the Infinity Kappa 6.5" and get a better speaker.

5Very Impressed
By J. Bayne
I put these in my boat several weeks ago to replace my marine JBL speakers and I am very impressed. I can't believe that I thought those old speakers sounded good. The sound quality of these blows them away. The bass is great, too. They are a major improvement to what I had. I would highly recommend these speakers.

5Yes for PictureMate 200 series - Pal, Snap, and Flash!
By book_review_grrl
This should be the correct print pack for PictureMate 200 series printers. If you have a PictureMate Pal, Snap, or Flash printer, you can order EITHER T5846 for 150 glossy prints or T5845-M for 100 matte prints.

If the box does not specifically say that it is for PictureMate Series 200 printers (Pal, Snap, and Flash) - DON'T BUY IT! You will end up with the wrong size cartridge. T5570, T5570-M, and "270" cartridges are not compatible with the PictureMate 200 series.

For 150 glossy prints, stick to T5846, such as:
* T5846 ASIN-B000IT4O0A
* T5846 ASIN-B000KJBRK8
* T5846 ASIN-B000JMFVY4
* T5846 ASIN-B000MFJOZU
* T5846 ASIN-B000L9MES6
* T5846 ASIN-B000NZRJFQ

For 100 matte prints, stick to T5845-M, such as:
* T5845-M ASIN-B000IT4O0U
* T5845-M ASIN-B000LDRJS2
* T5845-M ASIN-B000JMHV38

3Great photo quality, but poor value
By L Gott
The photos printed on this paper look great, no doubt about it. They look just as good as something I would have done professionally for a standard 4x6. However, the amount of toner in these cartridges doesn't appear to be anywhere near what they are promising. I got the printer for Christmas (it comes with a cartridge), along with this ink/paper replacement pack. I have printed exactly 102 photos, and have gone through both the starter ink cartridge that came with the printer, as well as the replacement ink cartridge. Now I am left with about fifty pieces of paper and no way to print on them. I am not printing anything unusual (just a bunch of photos of our kids), nor were the photos taken at a very high resolution (5M - not sure if that matters).

So, even if I disregard the first printer cartidge (I agree with another reviewer that the one coming with the printer doesn't seem to have much toner in it), the cost of printing each photo comes to about $0.38/each, and that doesn't include the cost of the printer itself! I love the convenience of being able to easily print photos at home, but it comes at a high price when you can get it done online or at a local retailer's for $0.12-.20/print. I guess that's why they can afford to charge so little for the printer.

1WARNING! Be careful when ordering this print pack!
By book_review_grrl
This print pack is not labeled well. It does not say whether it is a T5570, T5570-M, "270", T5846, or T5845-M print pack. They are not cross-compatible.

If you have a PictureMate Pal, Snap, or Flash printer, you should order ONLY the T5846 for 150 glossy prints OR the T5845-M for 100 matte prints.

If the box does not specifically say that it is for PictureMate Series 200 printers (Pal, Snap, and Flash) such as the T5846 or T5845-M packs - DON'T BUY IT! You will end up with the wrong size cartridge. T5570, T5570-M, and "270" cartridges are not compatible with the PictureMate 200 series.

* T5845-M ASIN-B000JMHV38
* T5845-M ASIN-B000OCMVLU

The low rating isn't so much a reflection on the product as it is on the product's packaging. The manufacturer, Epson, knows that it has more than one type of Picturemate system on the market and that the cartridges are not compatible across all Picturemate models - yet the packaging does not state anywhere with which models the print pack is or isn't compatible. This oversight could be easily fixed by adding information to the packaging.

5Highly Recommended!
By Wandrwoman
This Panasonic single line cordless phone system is by far the best I've owned. A surprising number of thoughtful, easy to use features are packed into a relatively small (5 3/4" x 5 1/4") footprint.

Created perhaps with aging Baby Boomers in mind, emphasis has been given to clarity of sound, legibility, and ease of use. This is not an old person's phone, nor a phone for the hearing impared; it's a product that anyone would appreciate. After all, what is the point of caller ID if the LCD screen is impossible to read? Or what is the point of advanced cordless technology if the sound quality is poor? Or what is the point of multiple advanced features if they require 10 easily forgotten steps to be accessed?

Things you should know about this system:
1) It is Dect 6.0 Plus which is new technology.
2) It is expandable with up to 5 more optional (ie. you have to purchase) handsets, or 6 total
3) It comes with a wall mounting adapter.
4) It requires 2 AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries (included)
5) There are speaker phones on the handset and on the base.
6) There is an 18 minute digital answering system that is accessible from both the handset and the base
7) There is "Talking Caller ID" which recites out loud the number and sometimes the name of the caller. This is a useful feature if you are eating dinner or not near the phone when a call comes in. It can be turned off if desired.
8) A 50 number phone book is shared between the handset and the base. Numbers are easily added (with the "1") via caller ID.
9) The phone can be programmed to block unwanted calls.
10) The handset has a dedicated volume key as well as an equalizer button which allows for a customized sound range.
11) Panasonic offers an optional range extender (KX-TGA405) which claims to double the transmission range of this phone.

This is a phone system that is easy to use, has excellent range, excellent sound clarity, useful features and is perfect in size to sit on a bed side table or hang on a kitchen wall.

5Can you hear me now?
By Sam Silver
I don't have vision or hearing problems nor does anyone in my household. We just sometimes keep a lot of noise so we needed a LOUD cordless speaker phone for conference calls @ work and with relatives. This phone takes things back to where they were in the late 90s when you could actually turn the volume up and notice the difference on speaker. Prior to this purchase early this year, I bought the corded/cordless panasonic DECT cousin with no talking caller id announcement and I am prepared to either donate or trash it. Decided to give Panasonic one l more try and found what I needed. LOUD speaker and caller id announcement.

4cordless phone review
By Amazon Customer
I don't normally write reviews but I use them ALL the time for purchases. So here is my pennies worth. I was looking for a cordless phone for my mom (she is 70). This phone was easy to program and set up. The display and buttons are easily seen and phone is easy to use. My mom is technology challenged so ease of use is important. She has had the phone for 2 months now and battery is great and she says it's easy to use. The only thing I have to say is the phone started to get a film on the screen (maybe from make up or lotion) so I had to clean it. I used car wax to help protect it and it made it easier to clean. Overall the phone is great so far. Hope this helped happy shopping.

5AT&T CL84102 Dect 6.0-- 2 Handset Landline Telephone
By Nancy M. Fong
This AT&T landline phone with answering machine is great. The display is large, easy to read and very informative. It has numerous special features that you will love, e.g., recording detailed calls, announcing calls, speed dialing, etc. I highly recommend buying this phone. It is a very good product for the price. The best feature is that it does not require extra batteries for the base unit like other phones.

5Magnificent! Great for Home or Office - Wall / Desk / Table - I Rate this an 10+!
By Professor Geek
This is the most awesome phone I have found out of the many that are out there and are available and above all (not accounting for the vintage to antiques) the best one I've ever came across! I cannot expound it in more than words can state to express it all but will try:

THE BASE:

Multitude of Functions and Options at your fingertips, easy to understand and use

Mega-Super-Duper-Sized Base (which tilts - for wall, desk, table or even at a braced angle mount shelf/rack/counter/etc..) LED Digital which is slightly off white and very easy to read black large lettering and numbers (GREAT FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED for I was even able to discern this with my glasses off even though it was blurry); which lights up when the phone rings (it does not flash like the others do and plus Colors ... BE GONE!).

CID - Caller ID Function Button which you can override the menu option and hassle by pushing this button to enable or disable the Caller ID Announcer (YES - It announces your Caller ID, another big bonus for those who are Visually Impaired / Blind).

HUGE - DO I MEAN JUMBO OVERSIZE BUTTONS - which is very handy! Easy-Peasy to see and read as well as to use, making you want to "Phone Home" .... as ET would say. Even more so, handy to teach the little ones the importance for emergencies; for there have been some who have "saved a life" to "saving their entire families lives" all because they were taught to dial 911 as they say "out of the mouth of babes..."; these were just little ones and they can be taught whether they are 2 or 5 years old, from a health crisis to a blazing fire even to their neighbor across the street! For by this, because of their family members having taught them, they became heroes!

MUTE BUTTON MANIA! Like the old Prego commercial would say "It's in there" - both the base and handset has the MUTE Button we all crave for, and on the base, you just cannot miss this one as big and round as it is - I've affectionately nicknamed it my "Easy Button" (sorry Staples), for it is parked right there, next door to your speaker phone button which is almost like a rectangluar"y" shape.

HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO - Way to go on the Speaker Phone! During the test run with my mother (will get to the Relay / TDD (aka TTY) in a moment) - I was nearly 6 feet away and my mother could hear me clear as a whistle.

RECEIVER - GOOD OR BAD? It's actually beyond my expectations before having set this all up, for mine is on the desk; I originally thought about mounting it on the wall (changed my mind - I didn't like my mind the first time, so I changed it); so having had numerous experiences with these wall mounted phones (excluding the vintage to antiques), I remembered how many times I had been so distracted and hanging up that blasted receiver and only to have it fall on my foot or on the floor and bouncing around. Or if you bumped it (I am not referring to a "wallop" here) then it was boom, on the floor or on my foot, bouncing around like a yo-yo. *Sigh* I did a test, a couple of tries without looking before it, I guess, one would call it "clicked-in" once it's in its place up on the wall. When I bumped it or knocked it with my hand as if I brushed against it, it stayed intact and did not move. Maybe that is a good thing that the cord length that it comes with is short so that it does not hit our feet and bang on the floors again, so that be a good thing, however if one's using a desk/table, you might want to opt for an extension cord, but I would not know why for the HD Audio itself is so exceeding powerful (more details to follow).

VOLUME CONTROL! As the old television show "Home Improvement" Tim "Toolman" Taylor would say "More Power - ARGGGH!! ARGGGH!!" This pretty much sums it up, more power to you at your finger tips, for YOU ARE IN CONTROL! This includes both Base, Speaker, and Handset.

RINGER TONES - 10 of them including musical tones - so whatever floats your boat, find one that fits you and set it! It's that easy!

RINGER TONE VOLUME - Oh yeah - got to love that! Totally separate from the Volume Control; if you love that Ringer Tone so much and like it loud, crank it up! But if you're a parent with a sleeping baby - you can always turn the volume control down.

ADDENDUM ABOUT VOLUME CONTROLS: This Packs A Lot Of Punch When Cranked Up; if you're a City Dweller and have windows opened, I wouldn't recommend having this cranked all the way up unless you want everyone in the Residential Area or Apartment Area and plus 5 blocks away to hear you; it might just be a good idea to turn it down a little. Unless you have that annoying next-door neighbor you don't like that keeps you awake all the time, well, we will keep it a secret here and make that annoying neighbor think his phone is ringing. :-)

FUNCTION JUNCTION WHAT'S YOUR OPTION? Do I enable everything or not - that is the question? So many features, functionality, I feel hopeless! No, you do not need to enable or disable (aka turn on or off) or use all these functions which are made available but it is nice knowing that they are there if ever you need them. But one thing there at the base that has left me profoundly bewildered at the end of it all is the fact that AT&T has provided you their website? I'd like to see someone try to go on the website via the phone, for the strangest thing in all my life is the link is a live link?

CALL WAITING - You have Mr. Belevedere, the Butler, at your service as well as Call Forwarding and other options in your Settings which can be found in 'Malcolm in the Middle' , excuse me, that's Menu in the middle on the toolbar xxxxxx .... scratch that - function bar on the top of the phone. (Available for those who have this phone service provision via their provider(s).)

DOES "1" REALLY MEAN .... "I'VE GOT EMAIL"? - Considering the fact there is an envelope there beside Number 1 on the dial - I will leave this as a mysterious suspense thriller!

30 Contacts On the List In Sync With My Handset at the Base .... (sing to the tune of Partridge in a Pear Tree). Totally unreal, everywhere I've gone to, the maximum I have seen for this corded and cordless was sadly 15, only 1 had 20 but they wanted your Arm, Leg, Blood, and your entire Estate plus your Will for it; Forget it! (Worse, that Orangey on Black was so tiny that one would need a magnifying glass to even see it for it was the smallest ever of all that I have owned throughout the decades, it was a J-O-K-E! Good thing it isn't sold or available on Amazon! PS: It only had 5 Ring Tones; and the salesman there even displayed it to my mom and I and to me personally all of them sounded the same, like a sick turkey gobble who was dying, even my mom didn't care for it.)

COME TO THE DARK SIDE .... Here where my mom did a test call to see how it worked after I turned all the lights off; and I am BEYOND PLEASED! Since I did not alter the factory settings (it's at its default), in the daytime, the white is more off white in what one would call "Antique White" with a gray overtones so it is not harsh on your eyes yet as implied above the BLACK INFORMATION STANDS OUT BOLDLY. Now in the dark, it lights up like a soft night-light so I was able to adjust this base of the handset just right so that it would wake me up as to being able to grab my glasses and seeing who was calling. The base where the handset which is much bigger is much brighter so I have it all set up but I am going to configure the settings on the handset just a little bit as the LED glow (White) was a little dim but it might be differing once it's fully charged as of the time when this was performed it was 3/4th charged so I am going to wait until tomorrow and try it again to see if there is any difference. It was just slightly a nice soft glow.

FOR HEARING IMPAIRED / DEAF - This base handset is awesome for TTY / TDD machines; in the event of power failure if your phone is hooked to a modem and you have a jack; and an emergency arises - you can plug this base into the landline phone and use the dial up mode if you know a storm is coming then revert to dial up mode before it comes this way you can attach it to the phone jack and using your TTY or TDD with batteries to place an emergency call. If no have no D/C aka "Direct Connect", this phone will work without Direct Connect.

HANDSET AND BASE:

YAY! Comes with a common replaceable rechargeable battery that is easily found everywhere!
Comes with the adapter as so as it was with the base.

It does come partially charged but it does need to be fully recharged.

Program your main base first then REGISTER the phone after it's been at least half charged so everything you have input into the Master Base will now be stored into the handset.

The Handset has all the controls and functions (EVEN MUTE BUTTON which is on the left top side of the phone) - you can even turn on the answering machine or turn it off or check messages, you can do a lot of things with it.

Bad thing about it is - it does not come with a clip or an attachment that you can carry around; while I looked at my old clips and cases I had from old phones before, but it won't cut it - there's a reason why ---> the talk button is on the left side of the phone; one has to push it to enable to talk on the phone. This function I like very much unlike before all the bothersome issues of having to find the irksome obnoxious places of finding the talk button or lifting the handset off the base to see who's calling will actually activate the talk mode when all you want to do is to "SEE" who's calling ... like you want to talk to someone at 3:44 AM in the morning and you've got to get up like 1.40 hours to go to work and only to find out it's that Auntie Blabbermouth, who can't sleep and is trying to find someone to whine, moan, groan and go on the "Woe is Me!" party; or your Uncle Loanie-Me-Moolah because my son got busted by the Cops and is in jail again, need money to bail him out; and he already owes you $$$$, like y'all wanna talk to them or even the annoying neighbor (I feel your pain, we all have them), who decided to call just because she thought she saw ..... or he saw .... get my drift? After all - SILENCE IS GOLDEN at times sometimes! :-)

Overall, AT&T did a superior job of a wonderful overhaul on this phone, bringing back the old days the way they used to make them and reviving them again, only difference here - bringing in MORE ... but I am still left in bewilderment as how does one click on the link on the Main Base to their website? :P

5love this phone
By HJ
I love having a corded phone in addition to a cordless. The phone is always there and you never have to worry about a dead battery. To me, this is the best phone scenario. The phone seems well built and good quality for the price. I'm delighted with this purchase.
