5Almost didn't get this great unit... but so glad I did
By Michael
I presently have the Nuvi 3790 and almost didn't go for this new unit. I am now glad I did. I have a number of trips all over in the next few weeks and was anxious to get this unit before they began. Had it pre-ordered on Amazon, they sent me a note that it was shipping and then it didn't and got delayed, so I got it elsewhere.

Registering the unit was a breeze. No problem for my Garmin communicator to recognize the unit and ask me if I wanted to register it. Went smoothly. I also loaded safety camera poi's from a third party and that went well too. I use web-updater usually as I can control what gets updated. I had an issue with the 3790 and it had to be replaced (with a refurbished unit). I would NOT load their map updater. I want to be in control of what gets updated. Just my two cents worth of experience.

A word of caution, you have to spend some time drilling down all the menu options, since you have a lot of control over what you want displayed on the screen. The three default buttons seemed fine at first, but I changed one of them ... left the traffic and mute button and changed the stop route button to where to. It seemed to me easier to hit the button to choose a via point than hit a button twice. My personal preference. You can eliminate all the shortcut buttons if you want. I like the idea of them on the screen though.

Speaking of via points, I like how this unit handles them. You can add a lot of them on the way. And you can reorder them as to how you get to them and in what order. Not sure if it optimizes the routing for them, but I suspect it doesn't. I like this approach and control.

I also love the idea of having your favorite poi's or saved destinations available as shortcuts on the where to menu. Reminds me of Magellan -- I have had a few of them in the past -- but like Garmin better.

I also like being able to select what poi's you would like to see pop up on the screen as you travel. Reminds me of my Navigons years ago. Really enjoyed seeing for instance a McDonald's near my travels and just driving in its direction when I had a Navigon 7100 and 7200.

I was concerned that the new user interface was taking away things from me. I love info and the ability to control it. And while the dashboards need some work I found the default one seems to work for me at this point the best. I expect Garmin will update these along the way. I have pretty much what info I had before available to me and even more.

When you calculate a route you are often given a number of options. This happens on the 3790 as well, but it is easier to use on the 3490. Again it reminds me of Navigon. I was sad to see them leave the US market, but Garmin has caught up with their great ideas.

On the first leg of my trip I had the 3790 and 3490 set up side by side. The 3490 got going faster than the 3790. Both had been turned on and had acquired signals the day before, so it was an equal comparison when I pushed both on buttons at the same time. I was well on my way with the 3490 when the 3790 kicked in.

I also noticed more lane assist screens on the 3490 than the 3790. I had read that street info wasn't as prevalent as the 3790, but I selected the more detail option and haven't really noticed much difference.

I have found lane assist to be invaluable. I also like how junction views look with photo real pictures and now sharing the screen and staying on the screen until you get there. Much better approach than a few seconds for a pop up covering the whole screen in the past.

Arrival times always vary. It's hard for any GPS to take into account traffic lights and construction on regular streets. UPS years ago programmed their computers to eliminate left turns as much as possible to save gas and time. They save lots and lots of money. It makes sense if you think about it.

Also, this is the first Garmin unit I have owned that does not say, "recalculating" when a route is being recalculated. It got to be annoying at times. This unit just recalculates with no notice. I also found the voice command feature to be a bit more responsive and accurate than the 3790.

I suspect that one reason the 3400 and 3700 series are not live like the 1695 is its size. No room for the receiver. I did enjoy the live feature and Google search on the 1695 I had, but it's a trade off for the great size.

This is a very compact unit. It's actually the 3790 unit size, but a fraction heavier, just a fraction. I love this size because I carry it in my shirt pocket when out of the car. Garmin has a perfect case just designed for the 3400 and 3700 series. I would urge you to get it. It's available on Amazon for a bit cheaper than the retail price. Garmin Carrying Case nüvi 37xx Series

While it first seemed to me to be an incremental upgrade, I have found the 3490 to be faster, easier to use and with more info options. Make sure you spend time going through all the options. Many things you may think aren't there or can't be changed actually are there and can be changed.

Very worthwhile investment.

10/22/11 Update ------ In the last week I have been to various parts of Central Florida and the Chicago area. I have found the Voice Command feature much better than the Nuvi 3790. More sensitive and better accuracy. Also, when on a route and you are looking for a POI you have the option of looking for it near you, along your route or at your destination. And you can use your voice to choose which option. Much better feature upgrade.

When you are arriving at your destination you know get an alert bar with a parking option. The bar is replaced shortly with a new button on the screen with a P. So now you can easily choose to look for a parking garage, etc. Of course this only happens in areas where there are parking options and would not pop up in a residential area.

Traffic is so far for me hit or miss. I do not like that the traffic button stays green even if there is no signal being received. Very confusing. When it works I like that you get an alert bar at the top telling you of traffic and as with the parking alert above, it gets replaced with an icon of the traffic issue that counts down the mileage to the incident. Nice feature. Also if along the way the Nuvi finds an alternate route that saves time it gives you an alert so you can see the options and change to that routing. Again a nice feature.

Great new unit and I am more convinced that I made a good choice in going with this unit.

11/4/11 Update ----- Garmin issued a software update that improved map drawing, corrected a routing error when going through tunnels, and improved traffic performance, among a number of fixes. One obvious fix is that the green traffic icon now shows gray when not receiving traffic info, which is a real great update. But as I discovered it just means the traffic receiver is not attached. It still shows green when the receiver is attached but not receiving info - not a good thing. Traffic of course is dependent on your area. I have used many such services including Garmin's NuLink, at times with other units side by side. They all are great sometimes, not so great other times. This HD approach is the latest and so far I have had no major issues. Again, keeping in mind that traffic is not always 100%, even those live traffic reporters report a problem in an area I am in and it's not there any more (so much for real-time, live coverage). But when I was on 495 around Washington, DC, it was spot on with delays and location of start and end. Not bad at all.

3Visually stunning, great features, but......traffic is poor
By Jackson
The unit looks great, it has very vivid graphics with sharp detail. The navigation features seem good, although it does work a bit differently than other Garmin units I own, so I am working through a learning curve. The "Voice Command" feature is GREAT. It has lots of functionality, and recognizes my voice commands very nearly flawlessly, available commands and options are presented to you on each screen so you don't have to memorize options, it's a CLEAR winner of a feature. The mounting system is easy to use and well designed (I own a Tomtom unit as well, which has a horrible mount system, so this comment is actually important to frustrated Tomtom users). Routing speed is fast (another clear advantage over my tomtom). There are lots of other options I haven't even begun to play with, like Exit Services, points of interest, customizable buttons on the screen, multiple destination routing, and on and on.

So what's not to love? In a word - TRAFFIC. Or the lack of it. And the advertised "HD Traffic" (whatever that means) was one of the main reasons I bought the unit. I live and work in the Pittsburgh, PA area, and normally drive up and down the turnpike (I-76) to/from work. My tomtom receives the traditional NAVTEQ traffic signal for the entire route at full strength. The first 3490LMT I bought never picked up the traffic signal on that route, not once. I called Garmin tech support, they ended up suggesting I return it for another, which I did. The second 3490LMT got a SNIFF of traffic the next day, for about 60 seconds, then gone again. To check it, on the way home I actually detoured through downtown, and sure enough, it finally began picking up signal, although never at full strength that I noticed. The NAVTEQ signal my tomtom picks up without issue is not even registering with the Garmin, much less any of the sexy "update every 60 second traffic" features. Maybe it was supposed to say "updates FOR 60 seconds" not "EVERY 60 seconds." Har har.

So....I'm at a loss as to whether to keep it or return it. I would rate everything but the traffic a solid 5 stars. I rate the traffic a solid 1 star. You can make up your mind how important that feature is to you. For me, I paid a premium price for the unit, with a lot of value deriving from the traffic feature, and without it I'm very disappointed.

UPDATE 26 Oct 2011: I ended up returning the unit. I really did like everything about it except the anemic traffic a lot, and tried to talk myself into not wanting the traffic feature. But in the end I decided that only having a traffic signal for the few blocks surrounding the downtown Pittsburgh area was just too silly - Pittsburgh does actually have a lot of traffice outside those few blocks - and it had to go back. I see other reviews complaining about the traffic as well. I'll wait, and if Garmin releases a new production run with an updated receiver I'll consider buying then. Until then I'll plod along with my Tomtom, which annoys me more every day it seems, heh...

2Digital 3D Traffic doesn't work properly
By Mark Denne
I live in LA. So for obvious reasons, high quality and up-to-date real-time traffic information is important to me. I purchased this unit to replace a Garmin 3790, which had proved disappointing. The 3790 uses Garmin's "3D Traffic" service which receives traffic data over standard FM radio. It updated too slowly. Sometimes it would take as long as 20 minutes after switch-on before its traffic data was fully loaded. And this delay meant I would often get told about a traffic back-up too late to do anything about it. Also, 3D Traffic is only good for freeway information. So if you opt to avoid conjestion by switching to a surface street, you don't know if that route is also conjested until you get there.

The great thing about the 3490 is that it comes with "Digital 3D Traffic". This uses HD radio which transmits traffic data much more quickly. The 3490 usually tells me its traffic information is up to date within just a couple of minutes of being switched on. In addition, it gives me traffic information about major surface streets, not just the freeways.

There's lots to like about the Garmin 3490. It's slim, fast and intuitive. I especially like the way that I can key in a destination address by giving the street number and street name first (instead of city first). Before I even enter the city name, it's already worked out which cities have that street number and name. Most of the time, I don't even have to enter the city - it's already worked it out. And unlike many other GPS devices I've tried, it has reliable Point of Interest data, so I can find anything from a furniture store to a theme park very quickly.

But the 3490 has two critical flaws. And for me they're show-stoppers. They're both related to the Digital 3D Traffic functionality.

The first is that the reception of Digital 3D Traffic data is disappointingly poor. For example, today I drove from San Diego to Burbank and I had no traffic updates for 26 minutes from just north of San Clemente until just before the Euclid Avenue intersection on I5. That's a long time not to have any updates. A lot can happen on I5 in 26 minutes! And this lack of reception isn't happening out in the desert, it's happening in Orange County. The HD receiver was perfectly positioned on the dash of the car throughout this time. Not good. But, to be fair, HD radio reception isn't Garmin's problem. So although the gaps in coverage are annoying, I can't fault Garmin for them. But I can definitely fault Garmin for the second flaw.

The device has a color-coded traffic indicator that shows up in the Maps view. When it's green it indicates no traffic on route. When it's yellow it indicates there's problem ahead but it's not serious enough to require a re-route. You can click on the indicator to see where the problem is and how long your delay is predicted to be. When it's red, it indicates a serious traffic problem ahead. The 3490 will either re-route you automatically (and tell you it's doing that) or you can click on the red indicator and choose a suggested alternative route by hand. All very reasonable you may think. So if you're driving along a freeway and the traffic indicator stays green you can relax and feel confident that you're not about to run into a major freeway backup - right? Wrong! And the reason is very simple. The unit also shows the green indicator when it has no traffic data. Which is exactly what happened to me today.

So to my annoyance, I came across a backup on I5 in Tustin, just after the I5 - I405 split. If the 3490 had told me there was a backup on I5, I could have easily diverted to the 405. Exactly the kind of decision that I expect a real-time traffic GPS to help me make. But I made the mistake of believing the green traffic indicator. And you can't trust it. Sometimes it means there's no traffic data, and sometimes it means there's no traffic. Those two are very different conditions. If only the unit would do something like gray-out the traffic indicator to indicate "no data" it wouldn't be so bad. At least I'd then know to check the traffic channel on the radio, or I could ask a passenger to look at SigAlert or GoogleMaps. But the way it works right now, the green traffic indicator is misleading and therefore ultimately annoying.

I need a device that gives me reliable continuous real-time traffic data in metropolitan areas. And I need a device that I can trust when it says there is no traffic en-route. Unfortunately the Garmin 3490LMT doesn't do either of those reliably, so it isn't the device for me. I'm returning mine tomorrow.

2Watch out for the poor QC issue
By Y. Wang
The spec of this phone looks good among all of the budget phone, and that is the reason I purchased it last Saturday. Unfortunately, my phone arrived with a faulted proximity sensor that every time when I make a phone call, the screen will directly go black until the end of the call. After did some searches on the internet, I figured out my situation was not a single case. There are some discussions about the proximity sensor issue across nearly entire Huawei's products line, including the G330, G510 and other phones. So, if you are interested on this phone, be careful for their poor QC, and carefully check your phone when it arrive.
In addition of the QC issue, Huawei tried to build their own UI instead of the standard Android interface. Again, unfortunately, their-own interface is not that user friendly, and does not give many plus to this phone...
The only reason that I will give this phone two stars, instead of just one, is the camera on the back. Its hard to find a phone with this price range come with the LED flash. Although the camera is only 5M pixels, the additional flash really helps to increase the usage of this phone, makes it easy to use indoor.

5Nothing else like it
By Savoeun Thet
I highly recommend this product for family use. For $399 you are getting a 21" Android tablet. I'm not a tech expert so I'm not going to detail the specs, but my whole family now flocks to this device. It's an amazing product. I wish HP can market this more to the mainstream crowd.

5Fabulous Deal
By Mr.Nice
Simply Fabulous. I have been dreaming of an Android Desktop and here it is. For $399 we get a 21.5 1080p Monitor, Touch Screen, Camera, Keyboard (love the shortcut keys) and a Mouse - just unbelievable.

As an Android programmer, I am thrilled to use this as a testing system as well.

Thank you HP, Google & Amazon - a viable alternative to the Virus Machine (aka Windows).

>> Update to the review after having used it for a week or so:
The computer almost behaves like a TV - you can on/off and the Android comes up immediately. They also have a shortcut power off/on on the Keyboard.

The keyboard has a nice appearance but wish it was much softer. A bluetooth keyboard might have been nicer though it comes with extra long wires.

One of the drawbacks are with App that only works in portrait mode - the App appears in the horizontal direction and cannot be used. Hopefully, all the Apps will have the Landscape mode - nevertheless most popular apps are OK.

5Outstanding for CPU-intensive games and everything else
By Bryan
I recently upgraded from an AMD 955 CPU to an i5 3570k CPU, and I must say that Intel has gained another convert. This CPU will chew through any game, and I get much better performance than I ever did with the 955--the 3570k simply blows AMD out of the water. I do not do any sort of image editing or video encoding, so this review is written entirely from a gamer's perspective.

PROS:
-Great for extremely CPU-intensive games like the Total War games (Empire and Shogun 2 in particular). These games are fairly difficult to run smoothly at very high graphics settings due in large part to incredible (but demanding) particle effects, high unit density, shadow effects and many others, but the 3570k has no problems handling Empire at max settings (assuming you have a decent GPU to boot).
-I get much higher frame-rates and better performance in games like Crysis, Crysis 2, BF3, Max Payne 3, Empire: Total War, and Deus Ex 3 as well as older games like FEAR, Half-Life 2 and Rome: Total War.
-Achieves an overclock of 4.3-4.6GHz without much trouble at all (I've got mine at 4.5 GHz), at least on a Gigabyte Z77-UD3H motherboard.
-Using the Gigabyte Z77-UD3H MB I managed to OC to 4.3GHz with no stability issues at stock CPU Vcore voltage (1.13 V).
-Built-in Turbo boost feature clocks the 3570k up to 3.8GHz--which is a pretty decent boost and would be a good option for gamers who are uncomfortable with messing with BIOS settings to OC their CPUs.

-Almost identical to the 3770K in terms of gaming performance. Benchmark scores for a number of games show marginal (if any) improvements for the 3770k. Other benchmarks and certain games like the Total War series actually see improved frame-rates with the 3570k versus the 3770k.

CONS:
-It does run somewhat hot--I get temps in the high 70s, low 80s (deg C) with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (with Arctic Silver 5 TIM) at 4.5GHz and 1.35 Volts. However, IB CPUs are designed to withstand more heat, so this is not a huge issue, but it may warrant considering a pricier cooler if you want to OC to around 5 GHz or higher.

OVERALL: The 3570k is an excellent CPU for any game on the market with a great performance-to-price ratio. Virtually all gaming performance benchmarks that you will find give near identical results for the 3570k and 3770k, so I would save yourself $100 and take the 3570K over the 3770k and put that money into a better graphics card or an SSD. If you already have a 2500k I would say that a 3570k is not worth the upgrade, but if you have anything older or are looking to switch over to Intel from AMD I would highly recommend it!

My PC specs:
Gigabyte Z77-UD3H MB
i5 3570k OC'd to 4.5GHz with Cooler Master 212 EVO + AS5 TIM
EVGA GeForce GTX 680 2GB on stock settings
Crucial M4 256GB SSD
Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 8GB DDR3 RAM

5Wow.
By bob
I am very impressed with this CPU. "Slick" is the word that comes to mind. THe stuff on paper about the native PCIe rev.3, and the new memory control circuit....etc. It looks good on paper. "These numbers are better than those numbers, this is different than that...." Well I put one of these into my computer...the one I use everyday, and haven't really upgraded for a while. I build i7s and Xeons, opterons, and Phenoms.......everyday. I get them to work, feed them an OS, drivers, applications, burn them in, package them and ship them out. I never really do 'my' work on them. (kinda like the shoemakers kids). I went back and forth between the i7s, the 2011 socket....but since this had been a bare bones bullet proof unit, I decided to go with the i5....something that would do what I needed it to do, and NEVER fail.

So I put this into an AsRock Extreme 4. Put my old hardware in there. Moved the drives over, loaded the drivers, and fired it up. Holy $^%t! All of that stuff on paper...forget it. What a kick. Real SATAIII is way faster than a SATAIII card. The graphics....wow! I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. This is a total computing experience. Again, I build cutting edge stuff for a living. So I'm kind of numb to this type of stuff. But when it was MY desktop flying around like that (Upgrade was from a core 2 quad).......I was an end user again, and a very happy one at that.

(just one tech note: You have to have a z77 or better southbridge to make all the newer stuff on the gen. 3 Intels to work)

5Stop Reading and Buy It Now!
By Anthony Hodges
First off, let me state that I bought mine through Micro Center because they were offering the mobo I wanted in combination with this CPU when it first dropped for $280 as a package. However, I highly doubt there will be a big difference in the chip based on where you bought it.

This chip is out of this world. I paired it with a Z77 mobo and it FLIES. I've managed to successfully OC it to 4.6 GHz on air cooling (Cooler Master V-8) with temps ranging from 20C idle to 64C load. That sounds high, but the TJMax for this chip is 105C and it's safe to push up to 90C. I've still got enough room to MAYBE push 4.7 out of this, maybe. Now note, you WILL NOT be able to push this chip much beyond 4.5 GHz without some serious cooling solutions thanks for Intel's decision to use paste instead of solder. There is a major voltage/heat wall at 1.34v that will stop you in your tracks and the temps start rising fast at about 1.28-1.3v. However, pound-for-pound, this chip is worth it in both my opinion and reviews over the last generation simply because of that native USB 3.0 support and PCI-E 3.0 support. It will run neck-and-neck with a OC'ed Sandy Bridge, but offer the new supports. Both may not be used heavily right now, but I'm future proofed for at least 1 1/2 years minimum. Why not get the same performance with new toy for slightly more price?

I do not use my system for heavy media processing so I cannot comment on that, but I do use it to see how far I can push the system and for gaming. Just for an example, I'm running BF3 (which is very CPU intensive for a MP game) under ultra settings and only use 68-72% of my CPU potential. My previous AMD 955 BE was under 100% the entire time and never let down. I sadly had my GPU fry from static when I was rebuilding my system with this new chip and I got to play with the iGPU on the chip while I waited for my graphics card's RMA to finish. I was NOT able to play high graphics intense games like BF3, but I was able to play games like Civilization 5 and Diablo 3 under high settings with 60+ FPS with just the integrated GPU. That's impressive to me!

If you're looking to upgrade to a new chip, this one will not let you down and will continue to zippy and take advantage of new technologies well into the future. This chip is good for the gamer, a challenge for the OC'er, and PERFECT for the person who just wants to sit at home and watch Youtube.

5Excellent GPS
By Manoranjan
I have had this GPS for 1.5 months now and it has been excellent so far. I upgraded from my old Garmin Nuvi 885 and my thoughts are below:

Satellite:
* It is really fast to acquire a GPS satellite. Most of the time in less than a couple of seconds. I took this GPS on a trip to Myrtle Beach from Pittsburgh and it has always been fast in acquiring satellites.

Screen and screen navigation:
* I went with the 4.3 inch over the 5 inch version because I dont really see a reason to pay the extra $20 for an additional 0.7".
* The screen is not as good as the current smart phones but very responsive for a GPS. It is much better compared to my 885.
* The GPS is fast and very responsive. No lags when moving across different screens.

Map updates:
* The map updates are pretty good. I have updated it once now and the process was very smooth.
* This is my first GPS with lifetime maps. I have read reviews of other GPS where people complain about space issues when updating maps. This has 4GB space and the maps take about 2GB so lot of free space for future updates.

Compatibility with garmin mount:
* I had the garmin friction dash mount that I bought for my old GPS and it works perfectly with that. The dash mount is awesome and you can find it here:
Garmin Portable Friction Mount - Frustration Free Packaging

Summary:
An excellent GPS for the price.

5Best one so far
By Nicholas Vendetti
This is my 3rd Garmin, the best one I've owned so far. Much better than the 40 LM, which I hated, and my older nuvi that locked up and died after a few years left in the car daily. Meaning, hot and cold killed it, my bad. Its better than my cars service, much better. Its cost is easy to take and it's just enough to make life easier and not enough to break the bank. It speed limit reminder is very helpful, a nice touch. For my needs its perfect. Its clear, clean and user friendly. It sound is great and directions quick and accurate. The online support is very good as is Garmins custormer service. In my mind, for my need of a simple GPS this is the best bang for the buck. There are other higher end GPS units but for me this is perfect hence 5 star. Settings are user friendly and making it more personal is easy. Its size is also perfect for my needs. Reception, so far, has been flawless.

4Mostly useful with a few quirks
By B. E. Watts
Bought this, my first GPS, to take on a solo trip where I wouldn't have someone else in the car to read maps or a smart phone to me, and I'm glad I did. Driving around an unfamiliar area, having to find various businesses and locations along the twisty roads of Boston suburbs, it was very useful. If you don't take the turn (either by accident or on purpose) that the device wants you to, it quickly recalculates and gives you a new route. Sometimes found instructions confusing when moving through expressway exchanges at highway speeds, but when I did the wrong thing, as I say, she gave me new directions.
The not so good: Very frustrating out of the box. No manual with the device, of course. When I plugged it in and registered the device, I assumed there would be a link right there to the manual for the device I was registering (wouldn't that make sense?). But no. I found a place to search for manuals on the Garmin web site, but it didn't provide one for my device. Eventually figured out by trial and error how to download and open up the Garmin Express program on my computer, which as it turns out, is where you find a way to download a manual. And once you open up the manual--guess what--there are instructions on how to do what I had just had to figure out how to do by myself to get to the manual. What is wrong with people who design and sell products? Do they want their customers' first experience with their products to be a frustrating waste of time? Does it ever occur to them to hand the box with their product to someone outside the company and say, "here, use this," and see what happens?

One glitch with the actual operation of the GPS: Three times when I have not taken the turn I was instructed to take, the GPS has tried to direct me to turn into a one-way street going the wrong way. Ooops.

But, overall I'm happy with the product.

5Great purchase
By Aeonfluxx75
After Verizon changed its upgrade cycle that coincided with both of my phone upgrades, I was left to either replace my son's non-functioning phone by purchasing an iPhone 5 for over $600, wait for next year to upgrade/replace or pay $200 to repair my son's originally free phone. I opted to check out what was being offered for last year's iPhone on Amazon and found a reasonably priced slightly used iPhone 4 with a great deal of memory. The device works as expected, no blemishes (at least none that I could find and I think there was mention of typical minor wear and tear - I saw none but I think that has to be put out there for used/refurb devices) and all cords, chargers were included in packaging. It was delivered early and my son is thoroughly pleased to go from a free Samsung smartphone to an iPhone 4 (granted he wanted the 5 but he's 15 - he'll live...besides he's happy to be at the same level his friends are at with their phones). I will be purchasing my phone this way and going outside of Verizon's market from now on. This seller is outstanding, the service and quality easily exceeds expectations. Thoroughly pleased!!!!

Phone works really well. I had to take to Verizon store to have activated. However I was expecting a 32gb and only received a16gb so that was disappointing.

Follow up to previous post dated 03/21/2014. Finally received the product on 03/25/2014, it was originally ordered on 03/05/2014. The reason for the "1" star is it came directly shipped from Sam's Club, item number 143018, on-line price at Sam's Club is $9.88 for the exact same product that I paid $22.39.

5Work great
By KG62
These work great, I use them for all our electronics. I also use these to clean out the small air filter that is inside our Roomba vacuum. I haven't had to replace the filter yet since this gas duster does such a good job keeping the filter clear. Also works very well to clean out the filter and easily damaged coils of our window A/C.

Many uses around the home. I will repurchase this brand when I need more.

5Yes for PictureMate 200 series - Pal, Snap, and Flash!
By book_review_grrl
This should be the correct print pack for PictureMate 200 series printers. If you have a PictureMate Pal, Snap, or Flash printer, you can order EITHER T5846 for 150 glossy prints or T5845-M for 100 matte prints.

If the box does not specifically say that it is for PictureMate Series 200 printers (Pal, Snap, and Flash) - DON'T BUY IT! You will end up with the wrong size cartridge. T5570, T5570-M, and "270" cartridges are not compatible with the PictureMate 200 series.

For 150 glossy prints, stick to T5846, such as:
* T5846 ASIN-B000IT4O0A
* T5846 ASIN-B000KJBRK8
* T5846 ASIN-B000JMFVY4
* T5846 ASIN-B000MFJOZU
* T5846 ASIN-B000L9MES6
* T5846 ASIN-B000NZRJFQ

For 100 matte prints, stick to T5845-M, such as:
* T5845-M ASIN-B000IT4O0U
* T5845-M ASIN-B000LDRJS2
* T5845-M ASIN-B000JMHV38

3Great photo quality, but poor value
By L Gott
The photos printed on this paper look great, no doubt about it. They look just as good as something I would have done professionally for a standard 4x6. However, the amount of toner in these cartridges doesn't appear to be anywhere near what they are promising. I got the printer for Christmas (it comes with a cartridge), along with this ink/paper replacement pack. I have printed exactly 102 photos, and have gone through both the starter ink cartridge that came with the printer, as well as the replacement ink cartridge. Now I am left with about fifty pieces of paper and no way to print on them. I am not printing anything unusual (just a bunch of photos of our kids), nor were the photos taken at a very high resolution (5M - not sure if that matters).

So, even if I disregard the first printer cartidge (I agree with another reviewer that the one coming with the printer doesn't seem to have much toner in it), the cost of printing each photo comes to about $0.38/each, and that doesn't include the cost of the printer itself! I love the convenience of being able to easily print photos at home, but it comes at a high price when you can get it done online or at a local retailer's for $0.12-.20/print. I guess that's why they can afford to charge so little for the printer.

1WARNING! Be careful when ordering this print pack!
By book_review_grrl
This print pack is not labeled well. It does not say whether it is a T5570, T5570-M, "270", T5846, or T5845-M print pack. They are not cross-compatible.

If you have a PictureMate Pal, Snap, or Flash printer, you should order ONLY the T5846 for 150 glossy prints OR the T5845-M for 100 matte prints.

If the box does not specifically say that it is for PictureMate Series 200 printers (Pal, Snap, and Flash) such as the T5846 or T5845-M packs - DON'T BUY IT! You will end up with the wrong size cartridge. T5570, T5570-M, and "270" cartridges are not compatible with the PictureMate 200 series.

* T5846 ASIN-B000MFJOZU
* T5846 ASIN-B000L9MES6
* T5846 ASIN-B000NZRJFQ

For 100 matte prints, stick to T5845-M, such as:

* T5845-M ASIN-B000LDRJS2
* T5845-M ASIN-B000JMHV38
* T5845-M ASIN-B000OCMVLU

The low rating isn't so much a reflection on the product as it is on the product's packaging. The manufacturer, Epson, knows that it has more than one type of Picturemate system on the market and that the cartridges are not compatible across all Picturemate models - yet the packaging does not state anywhere with which models the print pack is or isn't compatible. This oversight could be easily fixed by adding information to the packaging.

i bought this phone "brand new" "unlocked", well it sure was unlocked, but new? , not so much , after 5 months the phone started to have problems with one of the speakers so i went to an apple store because to my knowledge the phone was still under warranty ( 1 year), according to the representative at the apple store, the phone was bought more than a year ago, i was like ohhh no, i have proof that i bought it , and bam, im all cocky getting my receipt from amazon, right away i found it , and they guy is like , you see , this receipt doesnt have the EIN for this cell phone so we can accept it , i was like , im f....ed now, called amazon, for the first time in 2 years i had an almost bad experience , LOL because i called twice to ask for a receipt with the EIN on it , the sent it twice to my email, but it was the same receipt i had( no EIN on receipt) but the third representative, offered me an 80% refund on my purchase which i thought it was awesome because my plan was to get the phone fixed and sell it for $150.00, when i sent the phone, the very next day i received a call from amazon , letting me know that they had received the phone and that they where processing my refund, these guys are awesome, now why to me this was a good deal? , well i wanted the iphone 5 so, i used the money to upgrade.

First off, the DJI Phantom prop guards are a must, especially if you are flying around people or objects. Well made product, easy to install.

WARNING: If you remove the prop guards, DO NOT CONTINUE TO USE THE PROP GUARD SCREWS! The screws included in the prop guard are longer than the stock ones and will damage the motor. I learned this first hand, hopefully I can save someone the time and money from not making this mistake.

If you are as klutzy a flier as I am and are tired of ripped up props, you need a set of these. They add some weight and that affects flight performance a bit, but my props are living much longer and happier lives with them than they did without. They make the Phantom easier to see at altitude, too. DJI should include them in the box with the Phantom!

3Even less improvement than expected
By CRT
Quick Review:

While the i7-4770 is a solid processor for desktop users seeking power and bang for the buck and not concerned about the highest clock speed, it is not worth the upgrade if you are on a Sandy Bridge or newer CPU. I upgraded from a much older platform and I would have waited for the 2014 Haswell-e/Haswell refresh chips if the capacitors in my old motherboard had hung in a little longer.

Pros:

+ Supports Intel's Transaction Synchronization Extensions (TSX): This is not supported by the initial K series Haswell offerings and represents a capability that, as an executive responsible for software development, I would leverage in any effort where I could not justify the investment in fine-grained thread synchronization. I expect that game, CAD and multimedia developers are going to be looking to leverage this. As of this writing, this is the fastest consumer chip that supports it.

+ Good performance relative to current offerings: Stock i7-4770 chips do well on benchmark and real world tests. As of this writing (July 10,2013), cpubenchmark.net reports an average CPU Mark of 10,126. That is higher than any stock chip under 580USD, even beating the 4770k at stock speeds.

Cons:

- Surprisingly high retail price at introduction for what it is, I paid 310USD with an Intel box price of 312USD - expect prices to drop as initial fervor dies down and the Haswell line matures.

- Potentially superseded quickly by the i7-4771 (same capabilities with higher speed, possibly driven by improvements in binning with process maturity).

- Surprisingly disappointing performance improvement over previous generations (particularly memory operations).

- Extremely limited overclocking.

Neutral:

o Requires an LGA1150 motherboard - you can't reuse your old one if you wanted to, but LGA1150 chipsets natively have greater peripheral support

BACKGROUND

If you are reading this than I expect you either typically build your own PCs, are considering your first build or are considering upgrading an existing LGA1150 PC (assuming you are reading this in 2014 or later). In each of these cases, you are not the typical user so I will not waste time on basics or information that is available elsewhere. I will give you my opinions and the reasoning behind them and hope they will help you making your own informed decision.

I have been building and tweaking PCs since the early 1990's, but I have only done a half dozen builds for personal or family use. For my primary desktop I tend to build 1 tier from the top (enthusiast, high bang for the buck) and keep it for a long time. It takes me about a day to build a machine and get the OS to boot, but it seems like it takes months before I have the applications fully configured. This build replaced a late 2003 Pentium 4 3.2GHz Northwood Socket 478 build. Yep - almost 10 years. And I actually use my machine - Catia, heat transfer simulations, photoshop CS, HDTV video capture and editing, large MS project plans, various SW development environments and the standard Office applications. I do occasionally game, but not a lot of FPSs. The Socket 478 machine performed as needed until late 2012 when the lack of 64bit and being limited to 2 concurrent threads became an issue (I have access to other hardware, so it was never a road block).

While the new i7-4770 based machine is faster, I am surprised by how little improved it is in real world applications. The most conservative general application of Moore's law says that the new machine should be able to process about 30 times as much information (double every 2 years over 10 years). Having lived with the new machine for few weeks now I am convinced that it is not that much faster. I have used PassMark's Performance Test to benchmark and maintain my personal machines since 2001 so I can provide some objective comparisons in addition to a thumb in the wind estimate...

Using Performance Test v5 with the 4770 machine running 8 threads vs. 2 threads on my old 3.2GHz P4

CPU Mark: 7146.7(i7-4770) vs 665.0(P4) - about 10.75 times the CPU Mark of the old machine

With the 4770 machine running only 2 threads its rating drops to 3343.3 (~5x)

With regards to the built in 4600 graphics - the P4 at the time of testing was sporting a Radeon HD 3800 AGP 8X...

3D Graphics Mark: 2415.0 vs 2358.8 (almost no change)
2D Graphics Mark: 260.8 vs 114.3 (2.25x)

This is a bit of an unfair comparison as a midrange modern dedicated graphics card would likely improve the new machine's performance by an order of magnitude, but it does put Intel's onboard GPU in perspective.

And the real disappointment - memory...

Memory Mark: 992.7 vs 564.9 (~1.75x)

The new machine has much more memory and PerformanceTest 5.0 is 32bit so the new machine has considerable addressing overhead handicapping it, but this really shows how little difference there is between ancient low latency DDR-440 and comparatively high latency modern DDR3-1866.

There is one category where we see the type of improvement we would hope for after 10 years - storage performance. Disk access has always been a bottle neck for me so the P4 was loaded with two Raptors in a RAID0 configuration for the primary boot and application drive. The 4770 machine has a single SSD. The result:

Disk Mark: 19406.6 vs 418.2 (~46x)

The overall PassMark rating of the new system in PerformanceTest v5 (running 8 threads) is 6322.9 versus 677.3 or slightly over 9 times the performance of the old P4 machine.

These numbers back up the way the new machine feels - much faster, but not shockingly so. In fact, shockingly disappointing would be more accurate.

Did I get a bad 4770? Bad motherboard? Bad memory? Should I give up my job as an engineering executive and go back to playing with Legos because I can't even build a PC? To answer that, let's see how the new machine compares against modern machines. Using the current version of Performance Test (v8.0) yields the following results...

PassMark Rating: 3,227
CPU Mark: 11,114
2D Graphics: 1,120
3D Graphics: 559
Memory Mark: 2,961
Disk Mark: 4,266

These numbers are solid. In fact, with the exception of the 3D Graphics, this machine outperforms the other 71 i7-4770 based systems on cpubenchmark.net as of this writing. And the i7-4770 is arguably the fastest stock chip you can get for under 580USD. This makes the lack of progress over the past 10 years even more clear.

My take is:

Unless you have to have a new desktop now, you really should sit this round out altogether - Intel did. The lack of TSX support on the K-series takes them out of play. I am doubtful of the real world improvements of the Ivy Bridge-e as well. If you have a Sandy Bridge, or a Sandy Bridge-e - in my opinion you built at the right time. We have two 2600K based machines and they will serve in their roles well for many years. My plan for my personal desktop is to take a good look at the Haswell-e chips after the prices stabilize (along with DDR4) - maybe sometime in 2015. If I like what I see, the i7-4770 will be transitioned to our HTPC and I will build a new desktop then. That will give me 2 years with this hardware on my desk - about 1/5 of what I got out of my last desktop build.

4Solid Processor, Modest jump from Gen 3, Not for overclocking
By Amadeus B. Klein
This is Intel's 4th Generation i7, the 4770 is a direct replacement of the 3770. This CPU is not meant for overclocking (does not have an unlocked multiplier), you want the Intel Core i7-4770K Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80646I74770K for that.

That said you will need a new motherboard to upgrade from any of the earlier generation CPUs as this generation uses the 1150 socket while the other 3 used different ones. One nice thing here is aftermarket CPU coolers that fit 1155/1156 sockets will work on this CPU.

This CPU is a Quad Core, 8 thread running at 3.4GHz with boost to 3.9GHz as needed.
It is an 84 Watt CPU. The only currently available faster Intel 4th Gen CPU is the 4770K running at 3.5Ghz (and able to be overclocked thanks to the unlocked multiplier).

It comes with HD 4600 integrated graphics which is an upgrade over the HD 4000 in the 3rd Generation 3770.

Depending on what site you read for technical reviews this processor will give an improvement of 1%-20% over a 3rd generation CPU. Personally it seems about a 5%-10% increase in performance in most bench tests I have seen...

When looking at this consider some of the following things:
1) This will require a new motherboard ($100+)so budget that in
2) This does not have an unlocked multiplier, so overclocking is out.
3) With a $300+ price tag and a minimum $100 for a motherboard you will be spending at least $400+ to upgrade so even assuming the best performance increase that's $20 per % of increased performance.

If the price fits what you are looking for and you have no desire to overclock then this might be a solid choice of CPU...

I personally decided on the i7-4770K because if I ever choose to I can overclock it. I upgraded from a 3770K (not overclocked) and didn't really see any real world performance increase (Not overclocked).

I am using it in my media center PC which serves 6-8 TVs, streams music and maintains my media collection. so I am not pushing it with extreme gaming, but I do have it running without a hitch while streaming 1080p 3D movies to 6 TVs at the same time...

If you absolutely must have a 4th Gen i7 Processor and price is a major concern then this might be a good fit, but if top performance is more what you're looking for go with the 4770K... The performance bump over the 1st/2nd gen CPUs does seem worth the price.

If you are happy with your 3rd Gen i7 I would skip the upgrade since it's not that large of a performance boost overall...

Components in my personal Build:
Silverstone Tek GD-08 Case
ASUS Z87-PRO Intel Z87 4DIMM ATX
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX850 V2 850W 80+ Bronze
SAMSUNG 840 250GB 2.5 SATA III
Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50 GHz LGA1150
Kingston XMP 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 CL9 (Kit of 4) XMP
Blu-ray Optical Drive
5 Western Digital Red 3 TB NAS Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, SATA III (12TB Usable with Raid Config)
ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2, CPU Cooler

5A better deal than the i7-4770K
By coder
This processor is fully featured, unlike the i7-4770K which lacks support for TSX and costs more. The TSX instruction set extension will make multi-threaded applications faster, so despite the i7-4770K's extra overclocking abilities (which are not guaranteed), it may not be the faster processor in all cases.

So just get this i7-4770 instead and get what you pay for. You can also save money on a cheaper motherboard. This processor offers a lot of bang for the buck and still has untapped potential thanks to the AVX2 and TSX features which will be used by future software and thus extend its longevity.

I've observed a fairly consistent 20% higher performance in multi-threaded applications over an i7-2600 so far. AVX2's doubled vector processing power should increase that gap even more once multimedia applications and games make use of it.

5Fantastic phone set and feature set
By DIY Man!
I am more please with this phone set that I can say. The speaker phone works great and the range is awesome. I wanted this set because of the intercom feature and it turns out the range is so good that I can keep a handset way out in my shop and my wife and I use the intercom system to communicate so we don't have to use our cell phone if we need to ask each other a question. And, in my shop, the sound quality is as good as it is in the house. The other great feature I was not expecting is the ability to retrieve messages from any handset so I do not have to go to the recorder to check for and retrieve a message. I can just sit there and play and or delete messages from where ever I am at.

I cannot think of a negative thing to say!

3Nice phones but bad battery life.
By Val
These are nice looking phones. They also have great sound quality and the speakerphone is loud. Two things I find bad are 1) If you leave a phone off the charger for a day, it dies completely. Every single one of them, the battery is cheap. 2) You cannot name each phone. With our old ones we could input text like kitchen, bedroom, office. No doing that with these. I wish I would have not purchased these phones. Mostly due to the poor battery life.

I bought these for the purpose of having headphones that would not fall out of my ears while I ran various races and for that they work perfectly. The only reason I don't rate them 5 stars is that the range is very limited on then. I get maybe 8ft of range while it is linked to my phone. So if you need it for longer range than that look somewhere else

Paired easily and has surprisingly impressive sound quality. The headset arrived quickly and came with a nice package of accessories. Good value at a good price.

They work great. The initial battery life was about 6 hours.

The Fit has been the best part. Very snug and secure
