5Well built, good camcorder
By M. Montana
I record a LOT of live performances, where its typically very dark, with fog and flashing lights/lasers. I think this is the most extreme that anyone could ever hope to record on a budget of under 20k. The G10/G20 are the ONLY non-pro camcorders that are usable for this. I have 4 camcorders total, so I will compare/contrast them in the context of how I use them.

1) Canon g20. G20 is essentially a g10 that has been fixed. Audio is MUCH better, Digital zoom has been removed (it was useless on the g10), Telemacro has been added. Powered IS has been moved to the touch screen and replaced with a 'Pre-Record' button (but this is changeable in manual mode), the low light seems a tiny bit better, side by side the g20 looks a tiny bit brighter than the g10, but where it REALLY makes a difference is the noise in the video. Shadows are cleaner/crisper.

2) Canon G10. This was the prime camcorder before I got the G20, I would try to hand record the entire concert on just this. With the other 2 camcorders as 'emergency backups' to clip to if I absolutely could not save a section of video (like someone walking in front of me, or a band member jumping off stage without me catching it). The Audio was beyond piss poor though, despite my best efforts it would always sound tinney, and lack on vocals.

3) Canon M30. I used this as the backup, Usually very dark and nearly unwatchable. Colors usually off. However, prior to the g20, this was the best source for audio, when connected to a shotgun mic. Audio is FAR better than the G10, but close to the G20.

4) JVC Everio 440US. Not even sure why I would bring this or set it up. Unless the lights were very bright, it just picked up noisy black, and the audio was tolerable, but far from good. It really was useless unless it was less than 2' from a person. During daylight its actually a GREAT camcorder, but has basically no low light ability.

I LOVE the new hood design, its nice having a cap built into the hood. Eye piece looks nicer.

Overall the g20 truly is a g10, specs are identical. I suspect there was a firmware update and very minor hardware changes to make the new model. I was actually trying to buy a second G10 when this hit the market. I was pleasantly surprised at the minor changes, but if you are buying this as an upgrade from a G10.... Maybe hold off till you can grab the g25 (pro model) or g30 (which supports 60p), otherwise you will likely be disappointed. It IS better than the g10, but not by enough to justify spending a grand to upgrade.

Some Misc info for people to consider buying with this:
58 mm uv filter (evena cheapo will be fine... just protects your lens from scratches/dirt/etc)
3000 mah wasabi extended battery pack, (works perfectly in this, shows time remaining, etc)
2x32 gig SDHC cards. Comes with 32gig built in, but its nice to know you have 3 separate places to record to. Plus the usb interface is slow for dumping video to a computer.

5Fantastic camera! You won't be disappointed!
By Oscar Wilde
Right out of the box, it seemed very solid and high quality which one should expect for the price. The new lens hood not only works better, but also looks a lot cooler. The touch tracking focus works great and is extremely useful. In low light this camera really is just amazing. It's much better for that than any dslr I've used. The image stabilizer is very helpful. I have compared it to my dslr footage and it is MUCH more stable meaning you probably don't need a shoulder rig. I just wish that the focus ring was not so hard to turn because some times i mess up the video when trying to turn it really far. The only advantage for me when shooting with a dslr is that you get manual zoom. But it's still fine with this camera. Also, the battery that it comes with is very small, so I would recommend buying some extras. The off brand batteries will work great and it's super cheap. But other than those two things, this camera is just perfect. If you aren't super picky about audio than this is fine. But if your in a production business and need really good sound quality, you should look at the xa10.

I was a little hesitant to buy this because I thought it was going to have a deeper depth of field according to what I have read about camcorders in general. Someone also told me that camcorders don't have a shallow depth of field. When I first took it for the test, i was quite surprised. The performance was really pretty good, so don't be too worried about that if you like a shallow depth of field. Using manual focus is great and I can get a lot out of focus.

I don't think that it's weather proofed, but i have never had a problem and am never afraid to take it out in some snow which I do quite often. Like I said at the top, it is quite solid meaning it's pretty heavy compared to the other camcorders i was looking at below $1500. So if you want to go skiing with it and put it in your pocket, it will weigh down your jacket. So bringing a backpack if your going skiing or for a hike is a good idea.

I love using dslr's and were used to them. But now I can never come back to dslr's. Using this camera is just so easy and simple. You can start shooting so quick. The start up time is pretty good, especially compared to dslr's I've used. I know that some nikon's have auto focus for video, but there is no comparison. The auto focus on this camcorder is lightning, and i never worry about it in low light. Also, most dslr's that do auto focus during video is loud enough to ruin audio. And obviously, This is completely silent. And this makes the camera just that more simple and easy.

I am very happy with the camera so far. I have tried to upload some test video but it said that it wouldn't except the format. So if you already have a g10, than it probably isn't worth upgrading. But highly recommended and you will most likely be satisfied.

4Great camcorder for the DSLR fan
By mkgraham
I thought I would never get a camcorder with all the high tech HD video modes of capture out there these days. I found using video on my Canon 5d mark II superb in quality but lacked real layman control. I missed being able to focus instantaneous in a shot and the form factor of a DSLR as a video camera definitely is not there for run and gun situations I am finding my self into chasing a 2 year old around. Sure you can spend money on an elaborate setup that can turn the DSLR into something like a camcorder but I like the compactness the likes of the G20 offered.

So enter the Canon Vixia HF G20. I was interested in a sub $1200 HD camcorder and I am always a first to want a new thing so in return, and you, get an early review having 2 weeks with it so far. From what I know the camcorder is exactly the same as the G10 predecessor except for the new HD Pro sensor that allows more light capture. So I preordered and at the same time ordered this great book (I know its for the G10 and XA10, but all the G20 has is the better sensor) - Professional Results with Canon Vixia Camcorders: A Field Guide to Canon G10 and XA10 Now with the camcorder, I am happy I have read the book and use little of the huge manual that came with the G20.

So far it has shocked me how well the camcorder takes video and although the controls do take a little time to master, the touch screen works well. Maybe they did improve on it from the complaints I read on the G10.

I did drop one star for two reasons. The battery that comes with it is terrible so you best splurge on the max capacity one Canon BP-827 Lithium Ion Battery Pack for Vixia HG, HF S & HF M Camcorders (Retail Packaging). Also I wish they included a shoulder strap to carry the camcorder around easily.

So I will promise to update in 6 months, but so far so good!

4College student review: LOVE IT
By Sean
There are a lot of tech reviews out there on this product listing many of the pros and cons. I meant to keep this short, but it's a pricey piece of technology and I did a LOT of research on it and it's competitors.

I'm no tech expert, just a college student who was in the market for something more portable than my bulky heavy 15.6" Toshiba laptop. Overall, I would say that there are better and cheaper options if you want a strictly media oriented device; if you want to watch movies, listen to tunes, cruise facebook, etc. go with something cheaper. This does all of those things, but you can achieve this goal at a lower price point. NOTE: I DID NOT BUY THIS THROUGH AMAZON. I GOT THIS FOR $599 (with touch cover) elsewhere.

Screen: Awesome. I've watch netflix on this thing without ever noticing any complaints at all. I ordered a micro HDMI to hook it up to my TV, but I haven't actually tried it yet.

Storage: Not great, but has some advantages. Even though this is a 32 GB product, about 16 GB of that is used up by the OS. SO you have about 16 gigs left over. Not a big deal, since it has a micro SD slot, which is appealing. More appealing, I would say, is that it has a built in USB drive to which you may connect any number of devices (keyboards, mouses, printers... more importantly thumb drives with endless storage capabilities)... I keep a 16 GB thumb drive on my keyring which pretty much solves all my problems (especially because it readily accepts a USB device) Cloud? available, but not necessary in my case.

Apps: Pretty sparse. I don't fret this point because the app market for this product is new. It is sure to grow, and if it doesn't I don't care. Why? Because I bought this thing to do WORK, not play games and watch movies. Which leads me to the bigger point; this comes with fully function versions of excel, word, and power point...

Functionality: Good, but could be better. As a college student (I deal mostly in the sciences) this is great. I have instant portable access to excel which is super important for lab write ups and data analysis. This is the primary reason I ultimately selected this tablet. The word application is great. I typed out a 4 page paper a few evenings ago while on the go with few problems. It does take some decent typing skills and some getting used to to make real use of though.

Touch Cover: very cool. Mostly easy to use, but the space bar some times misses, and the delete key is just slightly out of comfortable reach. Also, after a few days of use there is noticeable wear on the space bar and mouse touch pad area. I am hoping this is just some skin oil residue, but it doesn't seem to want to come off with some light cleaning. I am worried that this part of it may wear out quickly.

Battery Life: Excellent. Period. I spent about 4 hours of almost continuous dorking around on the internet and playing on netflix... and it still had 60% left after all that. Not sure how that hold up to other tablets, but it blows my laptop out of the water. I don't dream of bring my laptop somewhere without the power source. With the Surface, I just leave it at home, and don't think twice.

I could go on and on. But I would say that the tablet functions are cool, the touch options are easy to figure out, and the option to go to a "desktop" view really helps you transition into, what I believe, is the closest thing to a tablet/ laptop hybrid. Love it overall, but there are a few annoying aspects. great for work, good for entertainment, but if entertainment is your primary prerogative, go with an iPAD or better yet (for the price) kindle Fire/ HD.

[EDIT] 2-10-2013 - I had to ditch the touch cover and replace it with the TYPE cover. I had a lot of problems with the touch cover; missing key strokes, missing the space bar OFTEN, and spending as much time deleting typos as I did actually typing meaningful words. I sometimes had three or four words strung together without spaces between them because of the space bar issue... VERY annoying. The touch cover is 10 times better. There are still issues with missing key strokes, but that is WAY less of a problem with the type cover. THE TYPE COVER IS EASILY WORK THEN EXTRA 10$!!! (And it doesn't add an appreciable thickness to its folded up orientation.

4Very little compromise in a great productive tablet.
By Christopher Lee
Before I begin, the tablets that I can compare the Surface RT to include the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (from stock Android 3.1 Honeycomb to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, and all firmware versions in between), the ASUS Transformer TF300 T-B1-BL 10.1-Inch 32 GB Tablet (Blue) (with its ASUS Transformer Pad Mobile Dock TF300T (Blue)), the Asus Google Nexus 7 Tablet (8 GB) - Quad-core Tegra 3 Processor, Android 4.1, the HP TouchPad Wi-Fi 32 GB 9.7-Inch Tablet Computer, and the Apple iPad MD328LL/A (16GB, Wi-Fi, White). Believe me, I know (and love) my mobile. Now for the part of the review you actually care about-- the tablet.

PROS
+ Build quality. The VaporMg finish definitely feels-- and looks-- extremely classy, and this tablet feels great in the hand. Think the aluminum used on Apple's products, but with a slightly softer, warmer finish. The kickstand (designed to be similar to the doors on a luxury car) snaps shut with an incredibly satisfying click, and folds open in a smooth, clear motion. There's no creak to the chassis anywhere, and the entire package screams quality. Save for one thing: the Microsoft logo on the kickstand begins to wear quickly, and for no discernable reason.
+ Beautiful screen. The big sticking point for many is that the Surface RT packs a screen with just 1368x768px resolution, which pales in comparison to many flagship Android tabs (typically packing Full HD screens at 1920x1080px, and the new Nexus 10 with the Retina-crushing 2560×1600px) and of course, Apple's own Retina iPads (at a beautiful 2,048×1,536px). But in my experience, after around 720p the benefits of a higher resolution video or image fall off very quickly on a tablet. Microsoft's ClearType technology is no gimmick; text looks genuinely impressive on this comparatively low-resolution panel, which negates (at least in part) a huge advantage held by higher-pixel displays. Viewing angles and color reproduction is spot on, and Netflix looks incredible on the no-letterboxing 16:9 display.
+ The kickstand. As a student, the small footprint afforded by the Surface with its kickstand extended makes it a great desk companion and movie watching aid, especially while I'm at work and my hands are busy. Some people have likened the Surface (with stand extended and Touch Cover out) as a poor man's laptop, but the kickstand certainly holds its own when it comes to increasing the Surface's versatility. And yes, it is possible to use the device on your lap-- if you're sitting straight. Lean forward, and you'll find the device wanting to tip down. Although, that won't be a huge issue because....
+ Reassuringly sturdy connection to the Touch Cover. The Touch Cover deserves a review of its own, because it's what really brings the Surface into an entirely different league of tablet. Suffice to say that once you get used to it, you'll never want to go back to a tablet where such a useful accessory isn't an option. But even better is the stiff magnetic connection (complete with a reassuring thunk), which is strong enough to-- yes, I did test this over a bed first-- suspend the tablet by the keyboard, and even surface a considerable amount of shaking around. For reference, I tried the same using my iPad and the Apple Smart Cover, and while you can suspend the tablet, any real movement and the iPad will just go flying off.
+ Ports! Having a full USB port open for peripherals (which work astoundingly well) lets you really expand the device at a moment's notice. My favorite setup is to use a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 - Graphite with my Surface, eschewing the tiny touchpad on the touch covers for a real, solid mouse. You also get HD video out (to HDMI or VGA, though this requires an adapter), a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, and SDXC expansion (located behind the kickstand) to satisfying your storage and ease of access needs.
+ Software. Of course, this tablet is going to be made or broken by Windows RT, and in my belief, it's...made! Windows RT is by far and away the best tablet operating system I've used so far, and you can see for yourself up top that I've dealt with a lot of them. Windows RT allows for "true" multitasking in a way that Android (the closest competitor in terms of multitasking; iOS' implementation is glorified window switching, and webOS on the TouchPad still only allowed one application to be seen at once) cannot. Being able to run two apps on the screen isn't anything new to a desktop user, but Microsoft absolutely nailed the implementation on the mobile front. You really have to check out a video; my review can't do this feature justice. The interface is clean, sleek, and performs great-- one reason Microsoft limited the resolution was to ensure that the processor (the formidable A9 nVIDIA Tegra 3) could run everything at speeds and smoothness rivaling anything iOS and Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean can toss out. Apps function as you'd expect, and altogether everything really comes together.

Did I mention Office? Last week, I decided I wanted to get some work done on an economics project, so I flipped out my Surface, popped the stand and keyboard, and got to work. I was halfway through crunching some large datasets in Excel when I realized that with any other tablet (including the keyboard-equipped Transformer TF300T, in my opinion the closest rival as a "productive" tablet), I would not have even considered trying to work with a spreadsheet. It's a miserable experience.

Built in apps like Internet Explorer 10 work without issue, and unlike other manufacturers, Microsoft lets you uninstall almost ANY application you want-- an enormous and refreshing change of pace. Don't like XBOX Music? Games? Video? Gone, gone, and gone. Don't like the default Mail app? That can be gone too (though it'll take Messaging and People with it). The list goes on and on and on. Multitouch gestures are worked in in thoughtful, genuinely useful ways, and you will hate going back to another tablet once you realize that some sensible, convenient shortcuts are now lost to you.

Oh, and the People app-- great way to check Facebook if you're only in it for casual use.
+ Full filesystem access. If you ever need to work with files, you'll know precisely why this is important. No more chasing files all over the stupid tablet, then finding you can't cram them into your app of choice no matter what.
+ Overall polish. It's weird, because Windows RT still has some bugs of its own, but...the Surface as a whole is incredibly well thought out and executed. You'll sit there thinking, "if only this tablet could do x," then find that it's quite capable of x, y, and z. And then you can appreciate the work that someone, somewhere put into making this a useful device.

CONS
- (Update: That I forgot to include this initially should indicate how much of an afterthought cameras are on tablets) The cameras on this tablet are utterly forgettable. The front-facing one is good enough for a video call, but the rear facing one takes pictures that look like something out of the very first smartphones. The saving grace is the built-in inclination, which positions the camera at a perfectly flat angle when the kickstand is out. It's not hard to use in your hands either-- if you can take people laughing at you. The TF300T has a much better camera, although it's just as bad in low light.
- Speakers are weak. They sound nice enough, and you get decent stereo separation, but there's no beating around the bush-- these things are soft, even for me.
- Browser lock in. Unacceptable. Internet Explorer 10 is better than I thought it would be, but Chrome bookmark sync and the interface are must haves.
- App selection is still a little weak. I don't think this is a huge issue, as I've found everything I need from the web, Office, and some very, very good apps already in the store (such as DLNA streaming via Multimedia 8), but some big hitters are missing; others, like Evernote are in reduced functionality modes (inability to edit rich text, for example).
- Terrible power plug design. I don't mind having a wall wart charger if it charges the machine quickly-- which it does-- but the magnetic attachment has nothing on the MagSafe adapters used on Apple's laptops. They should have gone with a plug on this one.

On the whole, this is a product that can really pull its own weight, and you owe it to yourself to give Windows RT a shot if you're new to the market-- or even if you're a veteran of the ongoing mobile wars. I'd be happy to answer questions, and I will continue to update this review as time goes on.

Just to be clear: I preordered this fellow from the Microsoft store, and I recommend that you'd do so as well. Price gouging on Amazon is always disgusting.

4The things you "CAN DO" perhaps are more important
By Scott E. Bradley
I have an iPad2 and my wife and I have enjoyed it. It is great for surfing the web and if you have little kiddos you want to hand something over to, to hush them up so the adults can speak it is an A+, tons of free game apps (many though that just copy a few others on premise of the games). Anyway... what I found frustrating with it was.

I could not access remote desktop at work, secure network. I could with an app for a little while, but it sucked to use. Then work upgraded to an "RDPFarm" server and no longer could it connect. Then we went on some trips and I wanted to toss some movies on the iPad and some of my own MP3's, hmmmm that is not going to happen easily. I am not an iTunes guy so many cheaper ways to get music! I am more techie than the average person and even I felt is was not worth the time to try to work around putting my own stuff on it. Then my wife wanted it to print to our 3 year HP printer ($20 more bucks for an application to do that).

Surface RT, you get an SD card slot so I added a 64GB SD card ($20). It has a USB port (awesome), I can print to my printer, I can connect to work and do everything I want (makes the keyboard very valuable). I can toss music or movies of any format on an SD card and boom it plays it. I have an HDMI out so I can plug that in to my TV or a Hotels TV and watch whatever (Hulu, YouTube, Netflix). MS has a skydrive just like iCloud so I can take movies, music or pics anywhere I want. I can access my xbox360, I can even use my xbox controller playing games on it (hope they expand on this).

It has the apps I need. Meaning that 2 Angry birds is enough for me (not 30 versions). I don't need to be a flash light, have fart sound apps or have an app for my cat. So my first 2 paragraphs is why you should go for an iPad. The rest may speak to why the Surface is right for you.

P.S. To make your first days go smooth follow these web links below on how to get things going on the Surface. There are many updates, so you will have to do a few reboots (no different that iPad updates).

Also if you have a Xbox 360 have all of your log in's and passwords handy because surface will ask you to set up or copy a profile:

1COUNTERFEIT CARD - DO NOT BUY
By Matt Miller
I ordered two of these cards, because they were such a good deal. Quite naive of me; when I had trouble getting it to work in my phone, I did a few searches online and found the there had been a spate of counterfeit 32GB cards a couple years ago. The postings recommended using a free, downloadable program called H2testw, which tests flash memory for errors & counterfeiting. I did so with both cards, and sure enough they actually only had just shy of 2GB of genuine, writable memory.

The fact that both items were counterfeit in the same way, and were in the same packaging, leads me to suspect that all are likely fake, in which case the listing itself should of course be removed, and anyone who purchased fraudulent cards reimbursed for all costs associated. I was able to get a return immediately, but am in the position of having to pay for shipping myself. I have sent the seller and Amazon an email requesting that I not have to pay any shipping, as the items were counterfeit rather than simply defective. I'll update as events unfold.

4Biggest size card(29.8GB), best value, but they should go bigger soon.
By Bobby Shornock
Updated 2/13/13: My entire review is not visible unless you look at this in comment form, I apologize for the inconvenience.

If you plan on using your Playstation Vita for game saves ONLY, then you should be getting a 4GB card. But let's face it, there will be people that want to revisit their PSP library, there will be people taking pictures, or putting their music on their vita to listen to with some games. The 32GB card adresses a lot of those problems, and although it should be a bit more reasonably priced, it did not stop me from giving up my 4GB card in favor of a 32, let's face it bigger is better.

Hopefully one day they will release higher capacity cards, but for now, 32GB is plenty for a lot of downloaded content, but thank god for physical media so you can get more for your Memory Cards. However I am not a fan of wasting bandwith and having to delete/download constantly and I hate buying multiple cards to get around this, 32GB is a decent amount and will last you a very long time if all your Vita games are physical.

Now, those of you with a 32GB card, you will find that unless you are using it specifically for Playstation Vita games, you will run into an annoying issue I have dubbed, the LiveArea Limit, which is 100 applications, the Vita itself taking 20, that you cannot get rid of or trim down in any way at the time of this post. If you are a Playstation Plus member, you should have zero trouble hitting this limit, especially if you are a day 1 subscriber like I am.

Star Rating:
0 for the Price, once this is around $39.99 to $59.99 this will be more reasonable, even if it didn't stop me from paying $99.99.
4 for the Storage Capacity, it's a good amount after reviewing how much I can actually fit, I upgraded my rating from 3 stars.

4Must-have if you plan to download part or all of your games, just be sure to consider the alternatives...
By E. Pizarro
A 32 GB memory card should not be this expensive, that much is clear. Obviously Sony changed up the memory to be a new type of card instead of a standard mini-sd or even a memory card pro duo like the PSP used because they needed to make their money back when they decided to price the Vita at a point where it competed with the 3DS. It sucks that this card could easily be under the 50 dollar range but, it isn't, and if you're going to download your games from the store to always have them available, you need a lot of memory, so this is your best choice, and at least amazon has it for a price considerably lower than retail ($79.99 vs $99 at the moment of this review for a $20 savings).

For those of you who are still deciding whether or not you need to shell out the 80 bucks + shipping to get the biggest memory card, here are a few points to help you decide...

It is certainly very convenient to have all or most your games on the card, however, be clear that if you are going to get a lot of games, and you are not willing to delete the older ones to make room for the new ones, or if you're one of those people who downloads a lot of demos and never wants to delete them, you're probably gonna have to get a second card anyway because of average game sizes. However if you're not the type mentioned above, but you still want to download at least part of your library, 29 GB (after formatting) should be enough (keep in mind i'm not counting music or video, but the same principle applies). Also, be clear that 'Convenience' is the one and ONLY advantage to downloading games from the store right now, to clear up a couple of common doubts and misconceptions:
#1) As of this moment, NEW games in the store are NOT cheaper than physical ones. New games will be priced the same (though i believe they should be cheaper as downloads). Also, price drops for games will usually happen faster at retail stores. For example, i found Wipeout at gamestop for $20 right after i had already bought it from the PSN store for 34.99(DOH!).
[EDIT: removed a comment that most new games are more expensive in the PSN store than retail, since this is no longer the case with new games, from what i've seen on the PSN store, new Vita games are coming out are priced equally to the retail stores (usually 29.99)]
#2) Downloaded games DO NOT run faster than games on cards. In fact, it's been shown that they actually run a bit slower, because the read speed on the game media cards is slightly faster than the memory card.
#3) Game media cards will give you the option to loan and sell your games (or trade in if you like). Games that have online gaming features (like LittleBigPlanet Vita) will require an online pass that will usually be included when you buy it new (as a voucher if you buy the physical game). If you get the game loaned or used and want to access the online features, you'll have to buy the online pass (usually $9.99).
#4) Game media cards are about the size of a normal SD card, maybe smaller, so carrying them around is much easier and convenient than it used to be with your PSP which used UMD disks. If you get a carrying case with some extra pockets, you can easily carry around a lot of games on physical media. I got a starter kit that comes from Sony for $20 USD that comes with a great carrying case that has 2 spaces with pockets inside (one the size for the vita, and another about the same size i use to carry a USB cable, a cloth and 6 or 7 games on physical media) and it also comes with a small box that's specifically for storing game cards where you can fit a couple of dozen cards (not sure how many right now but it was over 20). The point being, keep in mind that buying games on physical media may not be as inconvenient as you think, and if you decide to get most of your games like this, you're better off saving your money and getting a smaller card (8 GB should be more than enough).

In my case, I bought this card with the plan to have some games downloaded but I decide ahead which games i'm gonna get on media. The games I get on media will usually be the ones that I know i'm probably not gonna be playing once I finish them once or twice. For example, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, which is an awesome game by the way, but I got as physical media because, with a lack of multiplayer, i know that i'm gonna play thru it maybe a couple of times to get all the extras and then i'm not gonna play it again in like forever. On the other hand, i got Lumines: Electronic Symphony as a download because this is a game I always want available and I know i'm gonna keep playing for a while because it's a puzzle, time killing type game that's always good to have around, same goes for Wipeout 2048 because of online multiplayer and game elements like time trial that you keep playing over and over for a while because you wanna beat old records. Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation is a game i'll get in physical media for the same reason as Uncharted, and so on.
Another thing to consider is, if you're gonna have a lot of games from the PS1 classics collection or downloaded games from the PSP library , like me, you're gonna need the bigger card. These are the cases where download is the only choice, and depending on how many you have, they can take up quite a bit of space, however, the same thing as before applies where you can remember to just delete the ones you're not using to save space. Right now, the games i have installed that fit these categories are actually taking up more space than the PS Vita games i have downloaded, which aren't many right now. But I still have plenty of space left on my card (about 18 GB), especially since i got rid of all the demos i downloaded initially when i first got the Vita. So even though the having the 32 GB is cool cause i have lots of space to play with (like for example for movies) I could've saved some money and gotten the 16 GB one and still would've been OK.

Edit:
A comment to this review makes a good point, which states that you can get a better value with a digital purchase if you own more than one system, since you can install it and play it without physical media and you can have it on more than one system if you use the same account.

Also, since writing this review, Sony has added PS Plus Support to Vita which makes me glad I got this card because i have since downloaded several free games and purchased others at great discount. So you'll probably be getting better use and value with this card if you're a PS Plus member.

1The speed does not support the overpriced card.
By GAunderrated
When I tested the 32gb vita memory card the speeds it was generating for reading was around 4mbps which is around a class 4 label in other SD/memory cards. The average price of a 32gb class 4 that I have seen is around 30-40 bucks. Therefore, I do not support this price gouging when they are forcing us to purchase proprietary memory cards. Really the 32gb should not have a price tag above 59.99.

Vita is reasonably priced but Sony dropped the ball with the memory card pricing. This is the biggest obstacle the Vita is facing right now and it is sad that it is entirely due to Sony's own bad decision.

5Great purchase
By Aeonfluxx75
After Verizon changed its upgrade cycle that coincided with both of my phone upgrades, I was left to either replace my son's non-functioning phone by purchasing an iPhone 5 for over $600, wait for next year to upgrade/replace or pay $200 to repair my son's originally free phone. I opted to check out what was being offered for last year's iPhone on Amazon and found a reasonably priced slightly used iPhone 4 with a great deal of memory. The device works as expected, no blemishes (at least none that I could find and I think there was mention of typical minor wear and tear - I saw none but I think that has to be put out there for used/refurb devices) and all cords, chargers were included in packaging. It was delivered early and my son is thoroughly pleased to go from a free Samsung smartphone to an iPhone 4 (granted he wanted the 5 but he's 15 - he'll live...besides he's happy to be at the same level his friends are at with their phones). I will be purchasing my phone this way and going outside of Verizon's market from now on. This seller is outstanding, the service and quality easily exceeds expectations. Thoroughly pleased!!!!

5Fast Flashdisk Performance
By OldAndSmart
Ordered the 32G version. Ran a benchmark on it, and it is able to write at 15 MB/sec and read at 30 MB/sec for large files (posted screenshot). Very fast! The picture makes is look as though the stick is slightly curved, which it is not. Also, the picture conveys a higher quality finish than is actually on the unit. But it does have a very slight "heft" that feels like quality. I like the design which I hope will be a long lasting and ever available keychain dongle. Since it is so new I can't speak to its reliability in this use.

5Fast, durable and solid USB storage
By BranThomps
I ordered the 64 gig version of the Silicon Power Firma ZN flash drive and the similar, but smaller Kingston Data Traveller USB drive. The Silicon Power flash drive is very nice. It fits on my keychain very nicely with a key hole that is perfectly sized to allow wiggle room when using the flash drive with keys still attached. The Kingston flash drive is much smaller, but that makes it hard to handle and it doesn't have any room for your key chain loop to wiggle when you use it still connected. The Silicon Power drive is fast, works great on my Mac and PC as I have it formatted with the factory FAT filesystem. It has held up well for the last three months on my keychain and shows virtually no signs of rubbing against my other keys. I agree with another reviewer who mentioned that the photos make it look like it is curved. It is absolutely flat and actually tapers where the loop is, which makes it fit on a keychain even better. I do find it AMAZING that I am able to carry around 64 gigs of storage on my keychain. Years ago that was a whole stack of hard drives.. many years ago it was unfathomable to have that much space, much less own it for $40. We are the Jetsons! What will my kids have access to???

53 reasons I selected Silver Gray 64gb
By John L Murphy
I read up on many flash drives at the 32-64gb levels. I found the 128gb ones did not seem to please enough discerning customers at Amazon. I opted for a smaller USB 64gb 2.0 one, yet the largest (to date) made by Silicon Power Firma at 64gb, for three reasons. If you want a metal one, ensure you check the Silver Gray option.

1) Sturdiness. It is tough metal and not plastic, so there's less to chip off or wear away. Obviously, the ring attaches to a keychain or lanyard.

2) Design. No cap to lose or slide to wear off the wrong way. Although I hate not having this covered up, it's recessed enough (one hopes) for the protection desired.

3) Price. This meets my needs and is competitive with other brands.

I plugged it in. It fits very firmly, with less wiggle room than a conventional design. Insert and remove it carefully. P.S. While my laptop would not (IE platform installed by my workplace) recognize the set-up, I simply opened up the drive as one would any USB device. I dragged files in and they transferred easily. This is a small size, a bit less in thickness and length than the USB type with a cap, so I recommend anchoring it to a keychain and keeping it off the other keys and metallic items to minimize scuffing or bending, but I'll reckon it's made to last.

1Buyer Beware!!
By Matthew Spielman
Not all SD cards are advertised! There are many scams out there and this one falls under that category. Purchased the card and immediately tested it using H2testw, a flash memory test utility. A Class 10 card is supposed to be able to read and write at a minimum of 10 MB/second. This card could not do more than 4MB/second which means I could not record HD video to it as intended. This is a common scam, don't get burned!

1TERRIBLE!
By Phillisha Baggett
I bought this sd card in hopes that I can use it for more pictures and music. After a week of having the pictures I took while I had it i my phone were corrupted, and just last week it stopped working as a whole. There was a message in my notification bar that said "SD Card Damaged" and from then on I had to format the SD card and put everything back on it! DON'T BUY IT ANDROID USERS!

5Nexus 7 Is one of the best as long as it works!
By K. Geddings
I got this myself for christmas but after reading some of the reviews and issues with problems with it i decided to take it out of the box and try it out for an hour or so tonight just to make sure none of the "out of the box issues" that a few people were having did not happen, after all it would be terrible if i opened it up christmas and it had major issues, as my family will be there and more family coming in that weekend. It seems the vast majority of issues with the Nexus 7 has been out of the box.

So i opened it up tonight, charged it up. took about only 2 hours to charge it to 99 percent which was pretty nice. I updated to the latest android version right away (4.4.2 which just came out last night) and then installed two of the test apps that people have been using the GPS test and a multi-touch test app. (as that app is able to directly see any phantom touches or incorrect touch issues) i ran the touch app for a bit, no issues, it picked up on my touch with many fingers, no extra taps were shown at all. I then used the GPS test app , (after i disabled wifi so that it would only pick up my location through the GPS) while in my house it took a few seconds longer then in some videos to pull up the GPS and it had a not so great accuracy but that was inside the house.....so good enough. when i went outside with it and took a walk from my house to my church (which is a few blocks and under a pretty tree filled path) it did fine with no drops and around 10-15 feet accuracy on average (walking not in car)

Some people have said the brightness of the nexus 7 is too bright in low light. i turned it all the way down (as it was very dark outside) and i did not feel it was overly bright at all, felt just right. I ran a little risk taking it outside without a case (as i would get the case before christmas) but i had no trouble holding it and it did not feel like it wanted to come out my hands at all as long as i was careful.

I ran the GPS app for about 30 mins total without any drops.

I am into photography not as a pro but just as a way to express myself and connect with others. I had a Canon DSLR but downgraded to a powershot 110 HS as i wanted something smaller and that camera does very well for the price. Some have said that the camera in the nexus 7 wasnt all that great. i took a few test shots ( even a few in low light outside) and i think the quality is very good. In some cases it may overexpose things but overall it was able to produce realitively sharp and clear images that would be just fine on the 7 inch screen and look pretty good on a larger monitor.

Video quality was good too but..it may have been the low lighting in my room or something but i found the video clips i took were a bit laggy for some reason. the nexus 7 itself did not feel laggy otherwise, maybe it was just being not the best light or something. but i assume it would do good in better light during the day. But that is something to note. Picture quality is good but video quality may be hit or miss inside in lowish light. But for me thats not a big problem. I just wanted a small tablet that could take decent pictures and on that this wins, I think unlless you are a pro photographer or have a high end camera phone and just love it. For average pictures while you are out and about..say you just want to have "one" device that you can use without having to fiddle with another camera or cell phone camera this would do you fine.

The only thing i do not like is the camera app. it is simple enough unless you need to get into the settings with uses a weird circleish menu.......but no fear. there are a few good quality photo apps you can use with Android that replace the slandered camera app and if you are into pictures i would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you do that. I also liked that you could change the aspect ratio. i used 16:9 which does shrink the megapixels down a bit but looks much better when viewed back on the 16:10 nexus 7 screen and looks just fine on a 16:9 monitor.

there were a few shots i took that i thought were pretty impressive even without editing.

The screen is very nice its very easy to read text, i pulled up a free google book and had no trouble with that, pictures look very good on it and overall it just feels like a quality product.

I did not try any games on it just yet (saving that for christmas) but google maps and google earth seem to run fast and good on it.

I also did not have any restart or freezing issues in the hour or so i have used it. It turned off a few times but that was when i found out it was set to go to sleep in 2 minutes and some apps (Like the gps test app) will still cause it to sleep when used. So i recommend go into the settings and change the sleep mode to 30 minutes. and i think there are apps /settings that can tooggle which apps can and cant cause sleep mode to happen.

Battery usage seemed pretty good I used the nexus on about 1 hour and a half ish on just battery alone after charging to 99 percent and i took a few pictures some video clips and used the gps test app for about 30 minutes and came back after using itotal for about an hour and a half to 92 percent charge left

to me that is very good and if you dont use the gps and do other things i am sure it will last longer too.

I love the size and feel of the nexus 7 it just is small enough. its not too small and its not too big. My last tablet was the ipad 1 so this is a pretty good upgrade for me. I felt the ipad 1 for its time was a good tablet but its larger size and weight made it not so easy to carry around while walking to the church and showing things to people on foot with one hand and all. plus the ipad 1 has no cameras.

Holding it while out tonight just felt nice. but i would recommend getting a case for sure as it feels just a tad fragile carrying around without a case. but has a solid build and does not feel cheap at all

Oh and i forgot to say but the front facing camera is good enough. it took decent pictures of me in average indoor light in my room at night. so good enough in my opinion though the camera placement on the front is a bit odd but no problem.

I haven't even used half of the features of the nexus 7 yet. but i am very impressed and glad to see that it will work fine Christmas when i re-open it. I have not tested out the LTE yet (but that was not really something people have complained about)

I will update this later for more infomation when christmas comes around i just wanted to make sure there was no issues and problems out of the box. Oh and i had no problem with it finding my wifi connection, i know some people have said they had issues with wifi connection as well. felt solid and fast to me!

All and All this is one of the best tablets for the price i am sorry for those who had hardware issues but i got mine this past week from Google so maybe some of the newer batches directly from them have fixed some of those issues. I would say give it a chance it seems 9 times out of 10 this will be a flawless product!

I am glad i took the dive and know come christmas i will have a lot of fun and get a lot of use out of it!

So dont be afraid of the bad reviews some have posted on here, i say give it a chance and hopefully you will not be let down!

5Best of the Best
By Z Habib
Bought this item from Google Store so technically I'm only writing a review here because there isn't one of this product on Amazon.

So mine arrived back in October with T-Mobile sim card which I dont use. I wanted this device because I wanted to run Whatsapp on it hence I needed a SIM card tablet device and this one fit the bill perfectly. Plus I wanted a Google android, I knew KitKat was on its way, ASUS is a great brand and owning a Nexus is my dream.

The device is great. It runs smoothly, is very quick in performance. No lag time at all. There was no krap installed from before. I love the swype gesture and ofcourse KitKat 4.4 is already on my device since well over 2 weeks now.

The screen is amazing. The clarity, ufff! If the screen gets puggy i just wipe it off with my shirt and thats it! good as new! The back side can be cleaned off easily but since I purchase 2 rooCases (slimshell) along with this device, I dont really need to clean the back side.

This device also has a notification light which is uber awesome :)

If any of you folks need to know more, ask away. I may not be a verified amazon purchaser but i did buy the device from Google Store and love it to the very core.... hmm that actually rhymed ;)

4Verizon won't activate
By topaz_john
This is a great tablet, perfect in every way except that Verizon, the only carrier in my area, will not support it for LTE. Others have activated an older tablet and transferred the sim card to their Google Asus Nexus 7 which seems to work just fine. I paid extra for this tablet so I could access the stock market, weather etc. in remote locations without wifi but I'm the victim of some sort of competitive Google/Verizon turf battle. I'd recommend this very nice, well sized, and wonderfully detailed screen tablet with 5 stars if you can use ATT or Tmobile who will activate and support this newest generation of Google Nexus 7.
Feb 17, 2014..update..Verizon has apparently resolved any issues it had with my Google Asus 7 Tablet and I was able to activate it at the Verizon Store. This is an amazing tablet, just what I wanted and very versatile. 5 stars

5This Sandisk 'class-4' micro-SDHC card is faster than a PNY 'class-10'
By NLee the Engineer
I purchased a SanDisk 32 GB microSDHC Flash Memory Card SDSDQM-032G nearly two months ago, for use in my VIZIO 8-Inch Tablet VTAB1008. At the same time, I also purchased a higher-priced PNY 32 GB microSDHC Card (P-SDU32G10-EFS2) which is supposed to be a 'class-10'. My benchmark results, however, show that the Sandisk class-4 card is actually faster - most of the time.

I used two sets of benchmark programs. One is called 'Flash Memory Toolkit v2.0', which measures the random read/write speed of files between 1MB and 15MB. The other one is called 'H2testw v1.4', which measures the sequential read/write speed using 1GB files. Here are my results: (see my uploaded charts in 'Customer Images' section for details)

- For smaller files (1-5MB), the Sandisk class-4 card gives an amazing write speed of 15-17MB/s, while the PNY 'class-10' card can only get 1-6MB/s

- For larger files (10-15MB), the Sandisk and PNY cards are about equal at around 8MB/s for write

- For huge files (1GB), the PNY did better at 9.5MB/S, while the Sandisk dropped to 5.5MB/s

- The read speeds of both cards are equally high at around 18MB/S (this number may be limited by the maximum speed of my card reader used)

What the above shows is that: When used in a typical digital camera (with file size 3-5MB), this Sandisk 'class-4' card is at least twice as fast as the PNY so-called 'class-10' card. But when used in a HD video camera (sequential writing of huge file), then the PNY card should perform better.

For a card to be marketed as a 'class-10', it must maintain a MINIMUM write speed of 10MB/s. So by this definition, the PNY card does not qualify since it cannot even achieve a MAXIMUM write speed of 10MB/s. This Sandisk card, on the other hand, exceeds the requirement of 'class-4' by a huge margin.

Sandisk seems to be the only flash memeory manufacturer that still gives honest, conservative speed class ratings. Any other manufacturers would have labeled this card a 'class-6' or even higher. As a matter of principle, I rather give my money to a company that promises less but delivers more, instead of to others that do the opposite. At the present cost of about 1 buck per GB, this is an unbeatable deal!

[Aside]
The capacity of this card, as reported by my computer, is only 29.7GB. Note that this is actually normal, because compter people define one 'Giga' as '2 to the power 30', which is 7.4% greater than 1 billion. So 29.7GB comes to just about 32 billion bytes, which is '32GB' according to marketing people.

[Update Dec 3, 2011]
I re-tested the two cards above, using the CrystalDiskMark v3.01. The results are consistent with my previous finding. See my newly uploaded charts in 'Customer Images' for details.

[Update Nov 19, 2013]
The Sandisk card is still working fine after two years in my tablet. It should be noted that I have purchased dozens of CF/SD/microSD cards over the past decade, and only experienced ONE card failure (which was caused by an incompatable card reader). So I'm probably just more careful in handling memory cards. For example, I always make sure to discharge myself electrically before touching a card to avoid ESD zap, and use "Safely Eject USB Device" command to remove a card.

5Great price on a genuine product
By Doug
This is a great price for a 32GB SanDisk micro sdhc card. Don't let the 10 people who gave this a 1 star rating scare you, this is a great price for a good product. Anyone who works with computers or technology in general knows that you will occassionally have a device that just fails. I work a computer helpdesk and see it with hard drives all the time, it happens. That's why any good manufacturer warrants their product, so if you have a failure like this, you get a new one. These types of failures are unavoidable.

This is a geniun SanDisk product, sold by Amazon.com and not some third party seller. Buy with confidence.

1A deal, but, if given the option CHOOSE (RETAIL PACKAGING) OR YOU WILL RECIEVE A COUNTERFEIT ITEM. No joke.
By Benjamin Anderson
***
Update: As far as I can tell, there is no more non-retail packaging option on this product... hopefully they realized what was going on and changed it. But if the option is there again, make sure the item you add to your cart is (retail).
***

I meant to order "retail" packaging the first time, but I rushed and I wasn't careful enough. I got the crappy "hassle-free packaging" one instead. Huge mistake. However, I WAS NOT AWARE THAT AMAZON INTENDS FOR THIS TO HAPPEN THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME BECAUSE THEY ARE ACTUALLY SELLING YOU A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PRODUCT THAT IS MUCH, MUCH CHEAPER FOR THEM TO MAKE. Although, I assume that's part of how Amazon offers low prices.

The amazon page for this item secretly contains 2 items:
SDSDQ-032G-AFFP (Default item. Counterfeit. Poor chances of receiving a card that's not a knock-off/counterfeit/lesser-quality item, OR an item that was previously returned/refurbished/slightly-damaged-but-good-enough-for-hassle-free-packaging.)
SDSDQM-032G-B35 (Retail item. Legitimate. Excellent chances of receiving a new, legitimate SD card.)

Amazon (immorally) tries to get as many people to buy the non-retail one as possible. For example:
#1 Your browser automatically refreshes the web-page to this item whenever you do ANYTHING other than clicking "Add To Cart", after you have selected "Retail". I confirmed this after getting a crappy card.
#2 When you click on *ANY* link to the current SanDisk 32GB class 4, it'll take you to the COUNTERFIET one (SDSDQ-032G-AFFP) no matter if you clicked on the Retail one (SDSDQM-032G-B35) or not!!!
#3 The reviews for the two items are combined.
#4 When you select "Retail", the only picture that changes is one of the SD cards changes to a red retail packaging one. It's extremely subtle on purpose, and I don't even think that's real retail packaging, but whatever.
#5 Search the 1/5 and 2/5 star reviews. Note how they are mostly people who bought the counterfiet one (SDSDQ-032G-AFFP)? And people who bought the retail one (SDSDQM-032G-B35) are more likely to give a good review, with a higher read & write speed??

It's obvious... Do not buy SanDisk cards that have 'Bulk' attached to the name, or 'Frustration-Free', or anything else other than "Retail"!

Also, here's a short guide for repartitioning/reformatting with GParted, if you were unlucky enough to get a lesser-quality card, or are having issues with one (I'm sure there's Windows software too, just Google it):
Short version:
1. Insert your SD card into a microSDHC USB adapter (commonly comes with SD cards, also on Amazon for a few bucks).
2. Plug the adapter into your computer and make sure the SD card is recognized.
3. Download and Run: GParted. (Free, comes with Partition Magic, you may need to boot into it).
4. Select the drive in GParted, and click "create new partition table" in MSDOS (erases drive).
5. Re-partition the drive in whatever filesystem your device requires (look it up, usually FAT32).
6. The size of the partition can be your entire card, except the first 500MB. Make sure that you leave about 500MB of unallocated/free space BEFORE the rest of the partition. You'll end up with a 28.5GB card instead of a 29GB card, but your speeds, stability, and compatibility GREATLY increases. Note: This is also true with many other flash drives and external storage.

5I really was reluctant to purchase a Samsung device but then all that changed
By Critical Reviewer
All right here is an honest review about the note 3. It's something that I will approach from the perspective of someone in the Medical field, who needs to get things done quickly, and efficiently.

First of all, I received my phone on October 10th, and I had pre-ordered it but DID NOT pay 299. Well initially I did, but there is a promo code of VERIZON30 that drops the note 3 down to 209.99. I bought the Note 3 for myself and the LG G2 for my wife. Needless to say, at the price of 139.99 for the G2 and 209.99 for the Note 3, we returned the G2 for the note 3 despite the G2's incredible low light camera performance. Here is why.

Backstory: prior to buying the note 3 I have had the Droid Razr Maxx, which for its time was a great device. Now that apps are becoming more memory intensive, something needed to change. I needed a phone that wouldn't lag on me, and I really don't care about gimmicks such as scrolling while looking up or down, or pausing a video if I look away. Who really cares about that stuff? If I want to pause, I tap on the screen, which is less time consuming that looking away and ensuring my phone has paused playing a video. In addition, I really don't want that front facing camera on unless I am using it. Also, I was always reluctant to buy a Samsung phone because of the plastic build, but you know I always keep my phone in a safe case. I will talk about this a little later.

Now, right before I let go of my razr maxx, I briefly upgraded to the note 2 for 2 days. I chose the note 2 because I was in best buy and was comparing the HTC ONE which best buy had on sale for $50 and all of a sudden I decided to listen to the note 2's speaker. I was blown away in comparison to the razr maxx, but blown away which how much more I got in comparison to the HTC one. We are all going to large screens now, and frankly who the heck wants to hold the phone closer to their face? I certainly don't so I upgraded to the note 2. I really did not fall in love with it until the day I was sitting in my senior human cadaver anatomy course, and realized I had forgotten my Anatomy atlas and my notebook. I frantically searched the note 2 and found an app called S Note. I opened S note and began using it. I was blow away, there are blood vessels that are large and really thing, and I used to be able to only differentiate that on paper. Not this time, with the note 2 I was able to use the thin and thick lines as differentiators thanks to the S-pen. I then made my decision that I would return the note 2 and wait for the note 3 because of the larger screen, and faster processor. In addition, I had a memory intensive Anatomy app running on the note 2 that smoothly ran it, when my HP touchpad running android decided to begin hiccupping.

Now with all that said, this is why I feel the note 3 is the best choice on the market. First of all, if your going to purchase a phone that you are spending your hard earned money on it, it should be in the most secure and safest cases. It's an investment, that when 2 years later you sell back, you can almost pay for your new device. Second of all, we will ALL drop our phones at SOME POINT, and its important to protect them. I purchased the Spigen Bounce case despite it being slightly ugly; I got the gray one because Incipio NGP tpu cases are NOT yet available for this phone. That case kept my razr maxx in like new condition.

Now, I really protect my phone because I have my entire life on it, my class schedule, my hospital schedule, my family schedule, my kids doctors appointments, my appointments, my tests etc. EVERYTHING. So I needed a phone that was behind me 100% and never let me down. It has been the case with the note 3. I have customized it and it still hasn't hiccupped yet.

Now the actual review:

Screen & Productivity: The large display is fantastic. It is large enough to hold a full month calendar on one home screen and 3 days on another. I absolutely love the vivid screen because my anatomy apps, as well as using it to take notes is an absolute breeze. My only recommendation is to add many pages before you begin in lecture or whatever you want to take notes in.

There are many times where I find inspirational quotes on Facebook (FB) and wish I could save them and tag them to share not via FB but text messages etc. Scrap book has allowed me to do just that, I can share inspirational quotes and pictures with anyone and it's a breeze to look them up by placing my OWN PERSONAL tags for each photo. I hold the menu button, type inspiration and BAM; I have all my things that are tagged inspirational.

Sometimes I also need a list of diagnostic medical conditions, and it's easy to quickly create a scrapbook memo or create a flow chart in S-note. Etc. In fact the other day, I was talking to Verizon and needed to write down the conformational code etc. for my second note 3, and you know what I did? I was on the dialer page, pulled out the S-pen and circled the page, then I notated it with all the information, it contains the date, the time, and all the information I need to have in case something went awry.
I absolutely love this feature and it is very important.

Another feature I love is that when I am on YouTube, I can load HD very quickly, the LG g2 did a good job in this too, but the razr maxx despite being an LTE phone did not handle this very well. Another thing I really love on this phone straight out of the gate is that it tells me how many text messages I have (like an unread count). Its something I like, it also has many accounts built right in, such as amazon, Facebook etc. I was able to disable most of the bloat ware by going to manage applications and clicking disable in some of the pre-loaded Verizon apps.

The IR blaster is great, I've already started using it on all my TV's however, it wont turn the volume up on my LG TV but do every else. In addition, I am able to have in memory which room has which TV and so when I switch rooms, I also switch rooms on my phone, which allows me to use it as a remote. Great when you have to hide the remote from your little ones.
Battery Life: Used it for an entire day hardcore, and its still at 31% at the end of the day after about 6 am to 1 am usage.

UPDATE 10.23.13- see the attached screen shot of battery usage. I was pretty impressed. I do know for a fact though that S- health eats battery life like crazy.

Also I LOVE the speaker placement on the bottom of the phone, because it's just smart. When I hold my phone, it cups around the speaker channeling the sound directly to me, and not the entire audience behind my phone. Smart.

People have complained about the flip board app, but keep in mind, this is android and not IOS. We have choices here. Download an app called home 2 shortcut and it allowed me to configure double tapping the home button to start Google now rather than anything else. Its fantastic and a great use of android capabilities.

(I will update more here)

The S-pen I received was faulty with my phone, and so Verizon sent me a brand new one for free. Not taking off stars for that, during the pre-order stage stuff like that happens every once in a while. The Spen was completely usable I just had to add a little extra pressure. But no worries, it's taken care of and all is well.

The power button has a slight lag when you just tap it to turn on the screen; if you give it a robust tap it comes on quicker. It is quickest to turn on the screen using the home button when it's sleeping. It kind of irritates me that it is that way.

NOTE 10.23.13 It maybe quicker to use the HOME button to do the same thing.

I wish Samsung allowed customization of the LED colors for the types of notifications.

Note 10.23.13 Re: reception issues- I know people have complained about reception issues, but truly I haven't had many. Just a couple here and there. I think the reality is that the Note 3 is SLOW at switching networks etc. So rather than wait, I have just downloaded a refresh network app, which does what I need in less than 15 seconds and gives me a fresh connection. I don't see it as much of an inconvenience especially because the many positives of this device outweigh this one negative. I haven't had no reception anywhere.
Tethering by the has been pretty amazingly fast with this phone, and it DOES NOT GET HOT!!!! I love that! My razr maxx used to be a meteorite when it was tethering.

More to come.

UPDATE 12.13.13

I apologize it has been a while to update. I absolutely still love this phone, and I wouldnt change much about my review. I will say that I have experience reception issues but they are SOOO SELDOM, I believe ive refreshed the network about 4-5 times since I have wrote the initial review and now.

Ive been informed that there IS an app that allows you to customize the colors of the LED to what you want. Excellent, so thats definitely a negative taken away.

I had been using my phone with a Spigen screen protector and initially I liked it, but now with using the S-pen and it aging I really am beginning to dislike that screen protector. I have just ordered a tempered glass screen protector and will update later about that.

ONE thing I have learned is to save EVERYTHING from action memo to Scrapbook or S-Note if you want to hold onto it in case your phone needs to be reset. I had to reset my phone once, but it was due to the FoxFi app and it causing certificate issues. Once I reset it it fixed it.

Another note, the Spigen case protector I was talking about, it is great, however I have found that the squared edges make it uncomfortable for my hand to hold, when I remove the case I can handle the phone pretty easily with one hand (even though I have hands on the smaller side). So I have ordered a case that has rounded edges rather than squared edges.

Whatever you do, do NOT get a metal case for your phone because it will reduce your signal quality.

Other than that the phone has been running great, and I will update it again soon!

5Most amazing Cell Phone Ever...
By Brad
I have always thought the Note was an interesting concept since the first version. I love my iPhone but with each release I became more and more disappointed that they never increase the screen size. I was worried about moving from my Apple iPhones, but it was time I had to try.

I have been absolutely amazed by this phone. The size of the screen is terrific. The first few days it felt huge and took some getting used to, but by day 3, it was normal and no big deal. I look at my iPhone and think "Wow, I settled for that tiny screen?". I figured with this big screen I would have to run from outlet to outlet with a charger, but it lasts all day where my iPhone couldn't.

The speed, the image quality, and the functionality of this phone is just amazing. The S-Pen features and Samsung's spin on the Android platform are perfect. The S-Pen allows for such accuracy on the screen that you can do very detailed work on a relatively small screen. It's integration with Evernote is great and the Sketchbook allows the average artist an excellent canvas in his or her pocket with Adobe illustrator like features. The keyboard has a top row of numbers making input of passwords and data so much faster. They not only improved the speed of a Smartphone, they improved the speed that a user and work with it, making my iPad and iPhone obsolete.

I was able to transfer my music with little effort thanks to the Google Play music app including the things I purchased. I used the Note app to sync notes on my Apple devices. The integration between the Note 3 and Evernote offer a solution to this.

The only negative I can say about the phone is S-Voice is no Siri. I used the location based reminders on the iPhone often for things such as "Remind me when I get home to take out the trash".. I have yet to get S-Voice to do this, but I understand it's supposed to be able to.

I'm almost speechless at how perfect this phone is. If you are interested in a bigger screen are worried about leaving the iPhone, dont be. Give this phone a few days to get used to and you wont look back..

5Best cell phone on the planet!
By FALCON
[Forget those silly complaints about region lock. They do not affect 99.99% of users and no USA carriers. The N9000 is the European phone, and gets setup for the carrier used in the European country where you activate the phone. Period. US users need to get the phone for their respective carrier which changes the last digit of the number. It's that simple. Amazon makes both available. I teach overseas yearly. I keep my phone in airplane mode and use Wi-Fi or get a cheap phone card.]

First, I am not affiliated with Samsung in any way, nor do I work for a cell phone store. I am a writer though.
Secondly, I hate long reviews with the poster just reports the specs you already have. Rather, these comments show why the Galaxy Note 3 is more technologically advanced, and more phone for your money, compared to the many good phones on the market today. As for those phones that only show an app screen. I call them cave phones.

1. The beautiful 5.7" Super Amoled HD display has a "Wow!" factor. Everything is crisp and clear with a resolution of 1920 x 1080P, 386 PPI. Despite a few good contenders, no phone on the market can match the combination of vibrant color, and deep blacks. Check it out for yourself. For those who prefer drab, you can even adjust color intensity and contrast.
Is this practical? You bet. You get more viewable data for all social networking apps; you can see more email and contacts without scrolling; browsing is quick and pages more visible; YouTubes and video are fantastic; games are more playable; you can see larger areas on GPS maps; you get a better view of radar in weather; (live) wallpapers look great; you can use it as a reader; you can multitask with it; and with the right productivity apps you can even get some work done on it. I will never go back to a small screen phone. This phone is a joy to use.

2. The CPU (For US versions) is the quad core Qualcomm snapdragon 800 @ 2.3, which is the fastest processor on the planet as of this time. It will perform well for years to come. A few other phones have it. No lag on this baby. Just try to do things to outpace it. It moves data faster than you can see. Partially because of #3.

3. The Adreno 330 GPU is the best on the market, a few other phones have it. Graphics are amazing. It is 50% faster than the Adreno 320 in the Galaxy S4 which is a screamer.

4. It's the only phone to come with 3 GB of DDR 3 RAM. It also comes standard with 32 gigs of storage and you can add more with an SD card. Note: No extra charges for these!

5. It has a great 13 megapixel camera with useful software, a BSI Sensor, Smart Digital Stabilization and high CRI LED. Very few phones have this. It is also the only phone to do 4K video right now - sharp! It also does 1080P video at 60 FPS which is great.

6. No other phone has USB 3.0. 2 advantages: the phone charges very quickly on the 2 amp charger and nice thick cable. File transfer times are faster. With USB 3.0, a 2 gig file takes 27 seconds from the Note 3 to my (high end) PC. With USB 2.0 the same file takes 57 seconds.

7. How many phones have an S Pen? Except for email and quick notes, I seldom used the S Pen on my original Galaxy Note, but the Note 3 comes with some useful software making it more functional, and the handwriting recognition is scary accurate.

8. How many phones have a huge 3200 mA battery? It easily lasts all day with moderate to heavy use despite the large screen. Hardware CPU and GPU improvements, as well as Android 4.3 make the 100 mA bump over the Note 2 even more significant. You can also open the back and change out the battery - unlike some phones.

9. It does infrared remote control. It also has TV-out (via MHL A/V link), Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, temperature, humidity, and gesture sensor. I'm serious people, you get more for your money.

10. Hello multitasking! The fast CPU & GPU, extra memory, and high-resolution 5.7 inch screen make multitasking feasible and fun on a cell phone. You can even scroll through multiple applications in each split screen. This is even better if you hook up a keyboard and mouse via Bluetooth or USB, and connect through HDMI to your TV or computer monitor. The Note 3 can actually serve as a small computer. How many phones can do that? You can also mirror the phone screen with your smart TV for internet, games, viewing pics, whatever.

11. This the best cell phone for gaming on the market , period. The above features and OpenGL 3.0 which is part of Android 4.3 make it happen. Don't believe me? Read the reviews, watch the you tubes, and compared it for yourself.

12. It doesn't just have GPS, it also uses A GPS (improved), and Glonass Satellites. DL a GPS satellite app, and you'll see it will access between 5 and 25 satellites at once depending on time of day and location.

13. Got Knox? No, you don't. This phone provides business enterprise, and government level security for boot, VPN, etc., and comes in handy for privacy on public Wi-Fi. You don't have to use it, but it is there.

14. The air command and air gesture features make the phone futuristic. How many phones do that?

15. Is the screen too large for one handed operation? Yes, but so what? The tradeoff is worth it. Besides, Samsung now includes software to shrink it for one-handed so you get the best of both worlds.

16. I have been using the original Galaxy Note, which is actually wider, wearing suit pants to jeans. Both phones fit fine in your pocket. Don't worry about it unless you wear skinny jeans.

17. The TouchWiz UI is fine, and superfast now, but I prefer a 3rd party launcher - Go Launcher EX from the play store. Over a million users. So, the launcher is not a deciding factor in phone purchase for any Android manufacturer.

There are a few things that Samsung needs to improve in my opinion. I don't know how many thousands of people need to tell them that putting the volume rockers directly opposite the power button is inconvenient for users. The Note 2 placement was better but still wrong.
I do like the new speaker placement though. Its perfect for horizontal viewing because your hand channels the sound to the user. However, there should be two of them or a better one. It is Ok, just not great like the rest of the phone.
This phone should also be waterproof right out-of-the-box. Not a scaled-down version, just waterproof the thing. Other manufacturers are doing it for their flagship phones. That means Samsung can do it too. Truth be known, we users never want to see another flagship phone that is not waterproof. It's doable, so please do it. Smoke it with that nano-whatever waterproofing stuff. You went to CES.

All that said, I'm very happy, with the Note 3. IMHO the Note 3 is so powerful and functional, it is the first device I would classify as a hand held computer. As a professor, I researched it for days and used the original Galaxy Note for over a year now. There are other good phones, but the Note 3 does it in one package, and in most cases does it better, for the same flag-ship- phone price. I feel sorry for the fanboys and people believing advertising hype who don't research the market. They pay top dollar but don't get their money's worth. Amazon is a great place to get your money's worth and to find out user information. Thanks Amazon.

Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention, it's a really good phone too.

Recommendation - get a case for any phone, one that raises a bevel on the front glass, and try to find a good screen protector.
