Just received this for a new Dell 17.3" Inspiron Laptop and it fits perfectly! Actual measurement for our laptop: 16.54" wide, 10.87" Depth & 1.38" thick. The computer pocket is nicely padded and has a velcro strap to hold the computer in place, however, for our computer the strap isn't really necessary. Our laptop slides in easily - it's as if this bag was made for it. The enclosed info for this bag states that it will hold laptops up to 17" wide. This bag's measurements: 17.75" x 12.5" x 4.5". Finding nice bags for larger laptops is not easy and this one is such a deal. The bag is wide enough to hold not only the laptop, charger and mouse but also a lot of paperwork. It's actual tag says, " Classic 2 Gusset Briefcase - 17". It has many nice zipper compartments and a super strong luggage strap on back, if you are looking for that feature. The double carrying handles are covered and comfortable. There is a padded (adjustable & removable) shoulder strap and a nice organizer compartment to hold pens, cards, etc. The silver colored hardware is classic. This bag is everything one would expect for Samsonite. I cannot think of anything negative to say about this bag. It is not too wide and is very stylish for both men and women. It is perfect for both business and casual use. Also has "Limited 3 year Global Warranty.

This bag is exactly want I wanted to use for college because of how roomy it is. It has enough room to fit my 15.6" laptop, 1 inch binder with about 500 sheets of paper, a 950 page hard cover book, 3 folders, a mouse and charging adapter. Even though my bag weighs 10 pounds, the padded shoulder pad makes the bag feel light and if I was using the handles to carry the bag, I still believe that it wont be tedious because of the soft leather handles. The zippers seem high quality and while zipping and unzipping it, it feels like a knife cutting through butter. Due to its durability, I don't think I am going to need a bag for a long time. Overall its a stylish bag for heavy or light use, I would recommend it to everyone.

I have dropped my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars because of an issue with the product. After 3 weeks of ownership, and 4 days of usage total, I have noticed that the stitching on my shoulder strap has been half detached. I don't know if this is the manufacturer's fault or mine because I didn't fully examine the bag, when I received it. So its either, the stitching came loose because my bag is too heavy or it was shipped half stitched. I will be contacting the manufacturer about this issue and will update the review when this issue has been resolved.
UPDATE 11/21/12
Luckily Samsonite's repair center repaired my detachable shoulder strap completely free because it was defected. It took the repair center a few days to repair the strap because they use local repair shops for their repairs. Samsonite has a great warranty, but it would have been better if the product didn't break. Hopefully it doesn't break again and finally lives up to Samsonite's quality.

I just got this bag to lug my relatively large work laptop (HP Pavilion G7-1033cl - 17in screen) back and forth to work everyday. It has been perfect for this use, but it also is very well constructed for more heavy duty travel. For the price, it's really good choice for every day use, business travel, or both. The pocket to fit the computer into is plenty big enough for my laptop, and there is another full pocket area for notebooks or other items. There are also a couple addition zipper pockets.
Overall, I just think it's simple, does the job as intended, and is very well made (duh... it's a samsonite), so it's going to last.
